The Mooch is a bit like Samba with the constant change of rhythms - aka timing. The challenge with the Mooch - rhythmically, is the lack of the chasse rhythm (the "1a2" or "3a4") in the rock steps and the kick steps. To help you master the Mooch, wait until you do the "rock step" rhythm (1 2) and then resume the chasse rhythm (the "3a4"), and you will partially understand the complexity of those different rhythms in this beloved jive figure.

This school figure has 11 steps on one side, and another 11 on the other side - kicks, the rock steps, and the chasses - all included in that!!! 22 steps in all!

Soon you will have 20,000 subscribers!!! Congratulations on all your teams hard work so far and thanks again for the videos. I teach basic latin and ballroom to my friends and I refer them to the lessons to show how a professional teaches. It is difficult for beginners to understand how much repetition with good technique is required to become a good dancer. It seems they want to be good after 15 minutes and know dozens of step routines!

Thanks Peter!!! I think we should "allow" for beginners enjoy basic things and what seems to be easy. If they enjoy then they will repeat and repeat. I sometimes tell a joke: don't worry, first 10-15 are a bit difficult and then will be much more easy :)

Well, this is a good lesson, but one little detail is really bothering me... can someone explain what is going on the dance floor? My concerns: 1) it's hard to tell actual participants' skill level, but they are definitely far from beginners. Such a good bounce, intuitive leading, good moves - they are at least intermediates. Why do they learn basics? 2) I can be wrong, but participants looks like Russian (or other Slav nation), but original language of the video is nor Russian, neither English. Where is it? 3) who are all these people on the background? The main question is: what kind of event is that? It's not a generic KZread dance lesson, not a real-life lesson... some kind of international showcase with current students? Please, tell me! I'm dancing for 4 years, and I haven't seen such a strange event before...

Thanks for interesting questions. You are a very observational viewer. This was a seminar for those who want to learn how to teach beginners. Participants are former dancers and others who aim to become dance teachers. Event is taking place in Riga, Latvia. So people speak both latvian and russian. Hope this helps to satisfy your curiosity.
