    I have PTSD and a lot of social anxiety that makes finding a job hell. Most jobs require you to talk to people which I’m able to do, but really exhausts me. A job where I don’t have to talk to anyone and repeat similar tasks is not good for everyone, but for me it’s prefect. EDIT: thanks for the likes guys!! Thought I’d give an update… I’ve been working somewhere else for a few months now. Amazon was good, definitely not perfect. I think it’s depends on your site, your task, management team and your peers. My fulfilment centre was small and did not have a lot of the new technology, we moved a lot of stuff manually and it was too physically straining for me.

    For those that starting at Amazon, ima give you an update on how its going for me. It's been over a month since i've started working with them, you don't have to deal with customers and 9/10 times (as long as you don't screw up) you will hardly see your managers/supervisors. It's hard work but as he mentions in the video, it's easy work. Headphones aren't allowed BUT if you have a neck gaiter, you can wear it and hide your airpods in it and listen to music while you're working, just don't get caught lmao. I personally love it and it's perfect for people that don't want to deal with the general public and the karens.

    Idk if anyone would care but I’ll tell you what I just did for my first day. Just to be clear I only did customer returns today nothing else. So you walk in get your badge then they walk you to a room where you sit for 5 hours and watch video on what to do and not to do. Heads up get a seat in the back lol my neck still hurts from looking up. You take a 30 minute lunch break between the 5 hours. Then you go on a Tour of the factory then after that they show you everything you will be doing. All you have to do on the computer is basic self explanatory stuff of the job you will be doing. It’s okay to Ask questions they know you don’t know anything and you don’t want to just stand there looking like a deer in the headlights. If you want me to go in depth of the job just tell me and I’ll respond

I had no idea what I was doing. Lol 😂 the trainers didn’t really train you they just stood there and asked me questions if I knew this or that. I’m like “Um no” lol 😂 a 5 minute video ain’t gonna train me. So after a few days my manager started to come around to every station and gave us tips on how to stow better and faster. Congrats! questions: 1) if you can’t or shouldn’t carry your phone, when do you know your times for paid or unpaid breaks? 2) iHow loud is the warehouse, say for a person who has a hearing problem and where her hearing device is not suited for spaces that have continual incessant noise level? 3) are you still working at amz, and if not, how did it prepare you for your next stage career work?

  • @Terrie.Nguyen

    1. you can have your phones in your pocket. the area manager will tell you the break and lunch times. it's the same time every shift. 2. it's not loud, but there are area's where there's a constant sound of air flow. like the air flow sound by the entrance of grocery stores, that blocks the bugs from coming in. when you speak to someone standing next to you there's no need to yell. 3. i left last year in december. The area i'm in now does not have a warehouse nearby. it helped me to be humble, i truly appreciate the opportunity and experience. I knew it's not something I wanted to do long term and helps me understand how the process works whenever i buy something on amazon. it's definitely not for everyone, but it's not a bad job as some may say. just different.

I know, its crazy to get promoted that quickly but my tip is to work really hard but dont push yourself too much. Just do the hourly targets and be punctual. And the most important thing is to be friendly to people, If someone needs help, you should help them especially if one of the managers needs it.

It's a hard-working job the machine decides for you to work nonstop have to keep up the speed with the machine. You get very tired at the end of the day. I don't see many happy people while working there, most people working quietly don't really care about others. If you enjoy working hard alone burning off carolers in a not-very comfortable warm environment. It might be the job for you, sure it gives you a lot of time to think of what a way of life is.

    3:43 those original clippers bringing back the good old days when i met cool people. My first days and months. I got laid off recently. I worked there for 1 year and 2 months. I was always top 10 rate employees. But that doesn’t matter. Depending on certain days, you’d get a slow rate due to slow work or no supplies. In 2022, amazon was the slowest it’s ever been. They laid off many employees. It sucks a lot, because i know some people like me were hard workers as well. Now we gotta look for jobs to pay rent.

    No mention of the mandatory (MET) overtime? That actually violates labour laws here in Canada. An employer can't force you to work over 40 hours a week unless you agree to it. I was just handed a revised contract stating that there will be MET at my site.

  • @Terrie.Nguyen

    @Terrie.Nguyen

    2 жыл бұрын

    from my experience during the holidays and during the week of Prime day is where MET pops up. if you're a full timer, they want you to work 1 extra day (on top of your regular 40 hours week). also we would come in 1 extra hour early in the morning too. so if you were scheduled Sun-Wed 7AM-6PM, during holidays and "peak season" we would have to come in Sun-Wed + 1 extra day 6AM-6PM. hope that helps.

    some trainers (learning ambassador as they call them) are very thorough. some just throw you in there and only help when a problem occurs. good thing is that the majority of the jobs are very simple. the work area is not clearly labeled, but it's typically very easy to learn. the difficult part is that it's very repetitive so it can get extremely boring. delivery stations on the other hand can be much more fast pace and demanding. your first week you're with your new hire group and trainer. they will tell you where to report each day.

  • @Terrie.Nguyen

    Ask your area manager. I’ve seen it where a few people come in during a mid shift so their breaks differ. The manager gives them work while everyone else is on break. Now if you’re not doing anything while everyone is on break then yeah they can get you in trouble for time off task (TOT) which can be termination. So be sure to ask your manager!

    New building ways of doing things is so weird. Rebin is strange at that FC. Old school buildings you are surrounded by 3 rebin carts, a giant robo cart piled full of usually 100s of items, you scan each item and put them on one of the three carts. Then it gets wheeled to a pack location or packer. Also strange that your FC uses boxes only rather than also using poly bags and jiffies.
