This dispenser let's me roll out brown builders paper to protect the surface of my workbench as well as the things I'm painting and finishing. Plus it has room for additional roll items such as paper towels, tape, craft paper, etc. Note: there is no dowel roller for the lower roll. It is much heavier and just drops into the box.

It is so much fun to come back to your older videos and rewatch them. I wanted to rewatch how you made this so I can make a standing crafting cart with storage and some paper rolls. I still think the Gripper promos were genius... I got a pair of them for my table saw and use the heck out of them! And lastly, sadly, RIP Princess Meow-Meow... I liked the theme music every time she'd make an appearance. I had a cat that lived about 20 years and I know how that feels to lose a cat that's a member of the family
seriously your microjig commercials are awesome. they get me every time.
I use a large piece of heavy clear vinyl, like you can buy at craft stores per foot off a large roll. Glue does stick to it real well and just wipe it off if something is spilled or splashed on it. Best part is it can be reused over and over and folded up when I dont need it.

Sorry, glue doesn't stick to it well.
great job and it was so nice to hear you say throw it in the recycle bin instead of throwing in the trash
Hey Steve, Thanks for the videos. For a source for cheap paper try your local newspaper. We sell end rolls of paper cheap to the public. They are not as heavy grade of paper but are great for many projects. I used to keep a roll in my daughters room just to roll out on the floor and draw on.
CASPER MATTRESS. You need to know that this is the only KZread channel's commercial that I actually watch. The next mattress I buy will probably be a Casper. You need to pay Steve Ramsey more!
"For a shop project that no one's going to see..." and as I''m watching this there have been 12,546 views of this video.... But seriously, this is a timely project for me as I'm going to be setting up my garage shop in a new place. Thanks!
You do a great job with your ad spots. They don't try to not be ads and keep it light and self-aware instead of heavy handed, forced, or disingenuous. Kudos
Fundraiser idea!!! Kittens from Diresta's cat and Princess MeowMeow. A woodworkers dream shop pet.

Spike Diresta and Meow Meow Ramsey - A collaboration build project :P
I made your wood storage rack a few weeks ago. It's the first build I have ever done using plans. Now every time you show yours it's 'extra fancy' to me.
Now that I´m retired (finally jajaja) I have tried to made many of your projects watching your videos and following your plans, that have help me upgrade my shop and my house. Best regards from Panama.
Looks like a handy addition to a worktable. I might add a row of old hacksaw blade along the rail to help in tearing off sheets.
I love that your videos are geared to those of us who are novices...lol...you show when you mess up, as well as how to FIX those mistakes!!
maybe only channel where I love to see advertising....

Totally agree, in most of the channels i skip them, but it this one i actually enjoy watching them
Helmet-cam, baby! Woohoo! Foosball season is back!
I like this. I think I will switch the roll locations for mine, so that the big roll is on top. That way I can get to the smaller rolls when the big paper is unrolled onto the work bench.
I like these useful improvements in the workshop.
Princess Meow-Meow! I've missed her in your videos!
I am excited about the fund raiser. I miss the plane build last year. Oh, your adds are ma favorites.
I guess i havent watched enough videos yet but the intro gets me every single time

I almost find myself looking forward to the weekly weird MICROJIG!!!!!! insert.
That's a pretty good one and very practical.
Well done. That's a very useful project. I admire your passion for tour work, that's inspiring. Thank you for sharing. Thanks to MicroJig and Casper for sponsoring the show.
Steve, you're a hoot. Love your sense of humor!

Man i love the way you make your videos. They are very entertaining!
Purrrrrrrfect timing, I been wanting to add one of these to my workshop, and this is the best one I have seen. I like that you added space for shop towels, and a smaller width paper. -Steven
That would be a nice upgrade to any shop. Nice job Steve.
Just to clear up some confusion: There is no roller for the bottom roll of paper. It just dispenses from the box. That roll is much heavier and doesn't need a dowel roller.

Thanks. I was wondering ...
My wife has the same kind of paper roll holder in her classroom. Pretty much the same set up, except the paper is pulled out and the kids draw on it. Great video !
More Princess Meow-Meow (less Steve) What's funny is how you don't care about grain orientation, but we can't have veneer tear-out! Very cool as always.
@ragnkja

Tear-out can cause splinters getting stuck in someone's skin, which is rather unpleasant.
Enjoyed the sponsor ad too.
Great idea, thank you.
literally hit subscribe after that ad thing in the beginning haha brilliant
I don't know why .. but during the first part of the build video I found myself wondering what advert was going to be in the middle. LOL. Love your work Steve.
I was just thinking about how I need one of these rosin paper dispensers in my woodworking shop. But I think I need one of those glue bottle camera things even more! That was a cool angle.
I had one i'll be changing to a design like this, the only thing i'll do different is have the rolls under the workbench. I personally don't like it sticking out and working around it. The only other thought I have is leaving the bottom open. I realize the bottom makes it stronger but will also catch saw dust, wood chips, etc. Thanks for the videos and giving me some new ideas.
Very useful project Steve!!
Great project as usual.
The new camera angles is a nice touch to the video, keep doing that, also helps with the perspective of what you see as your doing the project, thanks!
Nice job Steve! Really great idea for painting or staining.
HAHAHA! Scarlett Johanson! I loved the single frame flash in the promo Steve. Keep up the good work!
Love your videos, Steve. Watching your channel has definitely made me more inspired to start woodworking more. Maybe a video on simple first time projects?
really good tip on the tape with vinere
This is what my art teacher did in highschool to protect the tables. Giant roles of thick paper that he taped to them.
Steve, thanks for the pointer on using painters tape when cutting cross grain.
great job Steve that would even come in handy with the big rolls of wax paper keep up the good work keep creating thanks for sharing
Liking the new camera angles and even a little hand-held action! Cheers! Chris.

I don't like the new angles but the video is still great.
There's another use for your project which took me back almost 60 years to my father's WW business. The "Layout Room" had two 16 x 8 foot tables with rolls of brown paper hanging on one end that were pulled out and used to by draftsmen to make full-size drawings for every job, with particular attention to joints. After the drawing was completed, a parts list with exact dimensions was taken off and sent together with the rolled-up drawing to the break-out break-out room where rough lumber was turned into boards that were jointed and planed precisely, but slightly over-sized in length and width. These were then taken to the machinists who cut them and any required panel goods to exact dimensions, produced any moldings, and and sent the package to the cabinet makers for assembly. Both the machinists and cabinetmakers used these drawings extensively. When the jobs were completed the drawings and list were stored against the possibility of repeat orders. In an era long before computers and CAD, it was an effective way to minimize mistakes and ensure both quality and efficiency. Just as useful in a home shop today.
I really need to make one of these thanks for the video Steve
muy lindo. felicidades
Super handy project Steve
Useful project for the shop!
Enjoyed your project! A change you can make to your project is passing the big roll of paper to the top and the other ones to the bottom, so that you can use all of them at the same time.
Ducking awesome Steve! Thanks!
keep up with the great work
Thanks!! very smart!!
Please make a table saw extension, I get so nervious watching you rip longer pieces. Also, I enjoy the new camera angles.

And there's a guitar hanging around in the workshop! Oh yes! Does this mean there's a guitar-build/repair video coming up? *puts on a hopeful smile*
Ooo, action shots! :D Extra fancy!
Love the new filming angles. Reminds me of the good 'ol days when Wyatt was in charge :)
GREAT project Steve, we all should have one of these. I like that you have 3 paper sources as most of the ones out on the tube only have the big paper roll 01:26 EXTRA FANCY ACTION SHOT - Nice!!
You should build an out-feed table next. Nice project.
love this! I have two huge rolls of kraft paper that this would be perfect for!

Tape! Great tip! Thank you!
I enjoyed the video and the princess meow meow special effects
Anybody else get the weird urge to watch a Scarlett Johansson movie all of a sudden? Intriguing... Great video, as always, Steve!
P.O.V. camera shots...extra fancy!
I probably would have put the big roll on the top and the small rolls below, that way you can still access the smaller ones while using the big one. never the less, it is a fantastic idea that I'm sure will be used until you no longer have a shop!
great simple project!
Love how you Incorporated Red Foreman into the video!

very usefull!
Nice project and great video! Steve I always look forward to your videos on Friday. Dude you always make me laugh.. Thanks
Great video work as always. I love kraft paper rolls for this use. Your roller dispenser is much nicer than mine.
some new editing and shots Steve? looking good!
I don't know that I've seen the, "First-Person," GoPro footage in other videos of yours, but it looks really good! Love you cinematography, despite not being able to currently do any woodworking, I still really enjoy watching your videos! Keep it up! 😊
I don't know why, but your intros are always funny. "Aww what childhood memories could be better than sledding down the mountain in a MicroJig maker of the Grr-ripper"
We now know it's princess the cat who is REALLY responsible for all these great videos. She is an excellent director/editor.
Love the Casper ads as well always entertaining
i was just thinking of making something like this last week.
Looks like there's room on that spindle for a roll of tape or two. Nice project idea!
Cool enhancement of Jay's/Nick's version, I really like the added secondary rolls.

There's nothing new under the sun, or very little. Most are not content creators, although a few are. Glad that he's showing people how to make it, I really am, but it's not new and it's not Jay's or Nick's idea either??? This idea has been around for a long, long time as I've been in half a dozen shops that did the same thing...15 plus years ago:):):) But again, I'm glad he's producing a video for it.

I agree, the idea has been around for many many years - in fact I'm making one for my outfeed table this week - I think it was how the Jolly Green Giant used toilet paper, lol - I do appreciate the mention though Left Flamingo!

You're absolutely right, it's nothing new of course. We had it in the school woodworking shop, over 30 years ago. That's also why I specifically said Jay's/Nick's _version_ (as opposed to "idea"), and that I like the enhancement/addition in this version =) They are all in the same "community" (YT woodworkers/makers), and Jay&Nick just made their version recently =) So it was a reference to something I guess many might have seen =) All good in the hood =)
@todlawson1263
7 жыл бұрын
You are correct, I apologize as I didn't mean it the way that it might have sounded. Even though it wasn't my point, you did say "version" and I should have put that in my response. A lot of things are recycled and although some are content creators, others are not. It's not a rip, it's just an observation. I don't recall the KZreadr, but many call his miter station his version. In fairness, it may have been new to him, but it wasn't new as I've seen dozens just like it long before KZread came about. Regardless, if he tweaks something original out of it and shares the video, it's a good thing and I hope he profits from it (I don't know how KZread pays people???). Peace:) Toilet paper???, that was a funny one!
@LeftFlamingo
7 жыл бұрын
No sweat, bro =) I think the miter station you are talking about might also be Jay's =) At least it is referenced quite a lot on many YT-videos, but as with many things, as you said, similar stations have been built by a lot of folks for a long time =)

Top job :-)
If you find that tearing the paper against that small upper strip is too difficult or inconsistent, you could try attaching one of those floor threshold plates, if need be you could grind that to a sharper edge on your sander, a low grit would even leave it with a serrated effect to grab the paper better.
