him ‘disowning’ his own granddaughter and on her daughter’s wedding was the IT for me. this guy is really toxic, people might defend him bc of his past experiences but it doesn’t justify his behaviour. it is like he married his wife just to benefit from her. ugh i have so much things to say but yeah im just hoping the mum and son supports and stick with each other no matter what

I started working at 14yo and my dad would only pay my sister for working at the restaurant. In high school I worked 3-4 jobs as well as going to school in case I would be homeless. It was hell. Decades later, I've never been unemployed, but that crazy fear we had to do when I was a child has put a toll on my body. The relationship with my dad has broken, he always asked for more, and took all our money. I had to work to buy my own school lunch.

I don't know anything about women in Korea, and it probably wouldn't be good for her if she left him either. But you shouldn't call someone ignorant simply for stating facts based off of their own culture. I'm not defending anyone here, but in other countries situations like hers would be an instant divorce. We foreigners could stand to learn a bit more about other's cultures. She / he said, this woman should protect her children = she is not protecting them right now, because she is staying with her husband, and goes along with agression. For me, that is (very close to) blaming. For any korean woman, that comment is highly offensive. And really? Foreigners are searching Korean videos that they don't understand, foreigners are commenting on cultural things they don't understand, foreigners are saying hurtful things without even realising it, because they know nothing about Korean culture or society, but still, Koreans should understand that foreigners are from a different culture. Well, we see things a little bit differently than. I kind of understand where are you coming from, but her / his comment is really offensive considering the situation. If he's opening every day, there must be slow days where not many people come. It’s weird because he’s in between sociopathy and psychopathy, he has no emotions but he expresses anger a lot. It’s like those are his two modes. I’m sorry but the woman should leave him, and I’m sorry for stereotyping but old Asian men or women are very, very stubborn. Especially in the mainland countries, since older people are always put on this pedestal and treated like they can do no wrong. It pisses me off to no end since my grandma is like that. She controls our family! Yeah she had a rough past growing up but she manipulated our family with tears and anger. She even outcasted one of my cousins (were very tight knit) and refused to talk to him about something he did 8 years ago! Now not many of our uncles and aunts really talk about him, they ignore him basically. He’s an asshole, yeah, but that’s a shitty situation. I’m not talking about all old Asian people but a lot have a superiority complex ...

My dad grew up in a very poor family cause his dad died when he was very young so he started working and with that money he will buy books and today he has government job so i hope that father will take care of his health and put his family first. Yes, but you should live and learn from your past childhood, not use it to punish your family who loves you. He isn't insensitive, he is heartless! He should love and protect his family, but he is actually abusing them just b/c they love him. That's inhumane really. He doesn't care, only care for himself. How can he say it's her fate and her fault for marrying him? He doesn't think she did out of love and stay out of love? You take care of your love ones, not beating them up b/c you want your ways. That's not what a father/husband should do. His family is not his priority and he doesn't want anyone to be happy.

@@user-mk000 I sure hope so. There's no point to be stubborn and hardheaded when dealing with those you love. Nothing is more important to have those you love and love you around, and live a happy healthy life together. I grew up poor too and without family, but never once I would compromise my children or husband. I know planning for your future is important, but you should live your life also as you go along. Life really is short, no one knows how long we will be here and if we will make it to retirement day. Working 3yrs straight, no days off? He may not make it to his retirement, he can never bring back time. Children grow older, people grow apart. So, to me being happy with my family is more important.

The man is not unwilling to change. As dogmatic as he is, you can see that at the end, he responds to his wife’s tears. There is hope to revive the softer parts of this marriage.

He also gave me a credit card under his name so i can buy school supplies, buy meals or just going on vacation. He always tell me to work hard, cause he came from a poor family background to the point he couldnt even finished his high school due to financial problem. I feel so lucky knowing my parents always taught us, it’s never always about money. When you want to buy something and you have the money, just buy it, don’t just always save it because you could die the next day and all that money was for nothing, when it could have been used to travel, buy delicious food, and something that makes you happy. Being happy is more important than money.
