Hi do I have to optimize images before I download or is it enough to optimize them with a plug-in like Smush?

Hey Bjorn great explanation! I manage a journalism blog student with A LOT of images right now in the media library. What you recommend? First Bulk process all media images with SP Image Optimizer and after done that use only SP Adaptive Images? have a better idea? Thanks for your time!

Hello thank you for the video I got a problem :( You shown in your media tab that you have the compression ability, I do not have that. I can access the plugin compression, behaviour, areas, exclusions and clear CSS cache only through settings but I do not have the option to compress the images sizes like you do in media tab. I did activate my api key and register my domain . please help

Does Shortpixel optimize images that are already in the media library ? Also will it serve WebP file format on your site.

Aren’t the megabytes (etc…) more important than the dimensions? I always fix the dimensions once I get them downloaded. I think I’m confused about the terminology. I had Wp Optimize so I’ve never optimized before I get them downloaded. Then I was told that I need to do a compression before I get them to my website. Now I have Ezoic and they are telling me to disable the photo optimize feature because it’s not working well for my website. I am totally confused

Does this also cover images uploaded via a community? This is great for the frontend of my website, but what about users uploading through a BuddyPress section? Thanks :) …Oh and, what do you recommend for video compression for both of the aforementioned? Also... If I add this php code: add_filter('jpeg_quality', function($arg){return 75;}); ...will an image compression plugin, installed at a later date, override the php or will the plugin not perform correctly?

Hey Big G, It should compress any images uploaded to WordPress, even through a BuddyPress section. If it doesn't do it by default, you can use the "folder compression" settings to compress all the images in the folder that BuddyPress uploads to. You can even compress images in Google Drive now with ShortPixel. The only video compression software I've used is HandBrake. I have tutorial for that here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/m2F-rsmblZnTgbw.html I don't really do my own compression any more. I just output video on my computer and then upload it to KZread or Vimeo. I rarely use AWS or other cloud services for video delivery anymore.

Your API key is visible while you're explaining the plugin settings.
