Thank you for the information. very helpful
I want my first column to go through all the way down the end of the page before it starts the next column, but it automatically keeps forcing the lengths of the columns to be the same. How do I fix this? Is there like a reverse column break? I cannot figure it out and it is driving me insane. Thank you.

Unfortunately, we don't have a definitive solution for you, as this isn't a problem we've run into. With that said, we would start by checking the column margins on the ruler to make sure you haven't accidentally changed them. Hope this helps!
Thank You

how do you make columns to start on the right side of the page. (for typing in Hebrew, for example)

As far as we know, this feature unfortunately doesn’t exist. Word supports right-to-left languages, but columns will still flow from left to right. Depending on the document, you may be able to use text boxes or a table to get the desired result, although this may not be an ideal solution.
quarantine I have to watch this lol

how do I edit independently in the left and right columns of the word and they do not interfere with each other

Generally, columns are designed so the text can flow freely from one column to another, so if you want them to be independent it is usually better to use a different feature, such as tables. However, adding a column break at the end of the first column may be enough in some cases. It will allow you to make minor changes to the first column without affecting the second one. Hope this helps!
thank you very helpful, (14. Columns)
awesome! Is there a method to keep the right side column only for comments or signatures?

How to do columns in android, because if I touch this option, happens nothing
great
Even Word 2016 still has no option for parallel columns? That's just silly. Give us *parallel columns* please -- pretty please! It's torture having to work with tables and text boxes...

Depending on the situation, tab stops can sometimes be a good workaround for this. They allow the text to be aligned in a way that is visually similar to columns. You can check out our Indents and Tabs video for more info: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qH57u7mPlZiYhJc.html. Hope it helps!

@@GCFLearnFree Hello, thanks for the reply. Yes, tabs might work on a few lines of text, if you're working on something like a resume. I'm thinking more of long parallel texts, for bilingual translation. So far, a two-column table is the best option I've found in _Word._ But inserting long texts is still a pain. For fellow translators who might be looking for tools, _WordPerfect_ has that feature (parallel columns). _Nova Text Aligner_ is also useful.
very nice
