That's a different joint, haven't see that one before.

After watching a lot of his videos, I am seeing something I must point out. These joints are not perfect, just shy of it. I believe he is close though. One nick away from going from "Okay no more" to "Ah dang it, gotta start all over". I see it as a lesson. That and it is acceptable to use a hand plane iron as a chisel.

Hate to say this but those aren't called "mitered dovetails" , but they are a version of "rising sun dovetails" that are way cooler. Nice work
