Two super novice questions.....1)what is the liquid you are putting on the bowl once sanded? 2) For someone looking to get started, can you recommend a lathe or better asked, what should someone look for in a first lathe? Such a beautiful piece! Thanks!

Hey Joe, I was applying some sanding sealer to the bowl before doing a bit more sanding on this one, I then used Shellac on the bowl as a finish! In terms of buying a lathe, I suppose you want to figure out your price point and then think about how much your projects are likely to be & it will help you make a choice. If you want a beginner lathe, I had a small Jet lathe to start and it worked perfectly, I upgraded to a Record lathe but I didn’t like it so I got this Laguna which is a great lathe (in my opinion).

My friend, MAC, says wood will be inside😂

What a fun hobby...to take old ugly stupid stumps of wood and turn them into such works of Art!
