Here I show why and how to size a drawbar for your lathe. The drawbar is an important tool to secure Morse taper work-holding devices in the lathe spindle. When using the Elio-DR Safe Drive center without tailstock support is is imperative to use a drawbar.

    How tight should the drawbar locking nut be? A great addition to your video would have been to work the drive without a tailstock and drawbar. Also you might point out that there are other drives that require a drawbar when the tailstock is not engaged. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.😀😀

    Good question, Glen. Not super tight just snug enough to hold. This is an older video and I need to probably remake it and add in other information. Thanks.

    Tod, do you know if your drawbar is the same thread as the Niles bottle stopper mandrels?

    Tony, no. The drawbar I sell is 1/4" x20tpi. The Nile bottle stopper mandrel are 3/8" x 16tpi
