Hi my name is Carl Jacobson,
I started woodworking with my grandfather as a young boy. I continued woodworking through high school, and started woodturning after seeing a turned project in a friends shop. Some of my fondest memories are working with my grandfather in his wood shop. Being able to share our passion for woodworking, ties it all together. We also do a lot of epoxy projects as well as woodturning.

I have found that using a 1" drill bit is more effective that the 1 1/16" forstner. Extensions tend to get a lot of wobble and that ends up with unclean cuts and depending upon the extension it can take it off center from the 1 1/2" hole. On smaller grinders, 5" range, the 1" drill bits are often long enough to go all the way through and are often cheaper than the odd sized forstner. You may still need to drill some of a 1 1/16" hole in the end pending the kit insert sizes but just enough to fit them. The 1" drill bit is just a cleaner whole for me and eliminated the potential for uneven cuts from bit extensions. It is also a cleaner hole than what I typically get from forstners. No one will know the difference of 1/16" in the hole. The body of the 1" drill bit is also more surface contact so more stability as well. I also use the Rubber Chucky grinder tool set as well and it is designed to work with the Robust live center specifically so it may be right up your ally. Thanks for the video, these are fun projects.

looks like you used the combo salt shaker/pepper mill kit. That kit is very finicky in measurements if you want the shaker to function. never thought to use it as just a pepper mill. Takes lots of the pressure off.

I'm going to be honest with you Mark lol I didn't even look at the box until last night, and the video was already edited! I didn't know the top plate was for a shaker. In our defense 😆 We only use Salt and Pepper grinders, so the shaker part didn't even register! I didn't even know there was any pressure until I read the box. Take care, Carl
