Woodturning: Epic Live Edge Burl!
Ойын-сауық
Thank you so much to all my subscribers, commenters, and viewers! This is my 13th filmed project. For a fairly simple concept, it seemed to take me forever to execute. Some things are worth taking time to figure out... In this case, simply getting used to the shape of the live edge and trying to avoid any catches or bad tool approaches was a fun learning process. Fortunately, the piece did not end up taking flight.
Since it will be Christmas 2019 by the time this video goes up, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. May you find cheer, relaxation, and inspiration!

I would love to have this beautiful object in my world. This is a wonderful celebration of that original burl. This feels somehow alive.
There something therapeutic about watching woodturning.

I found your channel one night when I couldn't sleep. After watching one of your videos, I was so calm, that I fell right to sleep. I can only imagine being so talented as yourself and not have to worry about losing fingers with my clumsy self. Thank you, Sir for sharing your world with us.
The grains and textures of this bowl are simply outstanding - I love it! You have incredible foresight to begin with a piece of wood and create something so beautiful. Great Job!

Joe I'm 75 and have always had trouble working with wood until I started turning 3years ago on a old/used Delta Midi lathe! We're never too old to learn!

If your eyes are ok and your hands don't shake you're never too old. But you might find it helpful to wear gloves. A lot of mature-age woodturners find the little flakes of wood tear into their skin - our skin gets thinner and more fragile as we age.
That piece turned out awesome... Really loved how it turned out. Thanks for sharing

A beautiful piece of wood in the first place, but you absolutely did it justice and then some. Outstandingly beautiful.

Thank you for starting every video with a portion showing that you sharpen your tools before every turning. For years I turned really rough looking and lousy pieces and couldn't figure out why. I started doing this and now they are very smooth lousy pieces. Oh well, baby steps!
This is exactly why I want a lathe, ideas are endless. Great Job!

One more stunning example of skill and 3D imagination in wood. I’m green with envy and when this Virus goes I am going on a wood turners 2 day corse. Hope every one stays safe and well. Eddy

Another very well illuminated video with NO annoying music, and NO annoying volume levels. This is refreshing. I like your style of video to posts the types of abrasives and sanding sealers and such as I am not aware of this process at your level. Another cup of coffee gone. A wealth of knowledge gained. Happy Turning.

Thanks very much Lee! I think the music can sometimes be the one thing that turns some people off of these kinds of videos, so I’m really glad you’re enjoying it! Cheers!
I'm so happy you added that decorative touch to the pedestal portion of the foot. That simple touch really makes it stand out!

So beautiful I'm so addicted to your video's!! It doesn't have to be fancy to be spectacular! As always your loyal fan 😀
Dear David, I stumbled over your wood turning videos and simply admire how you work with the finest woods and also your vision for each project. My special moment is always when you apply oil to the surface. The wood starts to shine as if it comes to even more and brighter life. I also got to see some wood which I didnt know of. So pretty. For me thats art: to have the vision, the power, the craftmanship and the corresponding tools to make such things like you do. Your videos have also changed my perspective for any wooden object like lamp post, wooden bowls,or any other such item. Time isnt essential when crafting. I know that out of my own experience. But I craft with copper wire, beads, gemstones and wool. Please keep posting your videos. Thank you. Please stay healthy and take care.
