Love the simplicity. Thank you for not covering up the beautiful grain 👍. Appreciate the Acks coupon as I ran out. Just out of curiosity how do you get rid of the sweater wood chips? My sweaters get permanent wood chip embellishment lol.
@PFWoodturning

Ha! Thanks, Wayne. The wood chips are everywhere! Sometimes I have to wash them twice!
This is a pleasant video of a bowl par excellence Peggy🏆 Thanks for sharing your experience🙏 And adding many words of wisdom; much appreciated. May I ask How much raw video did you film to make this video ? I end up filming 3-5 hours to make a 10 minute video. -Mike

Beautiful bowl. Curious why you don’t reverse the motor when applying sanding sealer and abrasive.
@PFWoodturning
4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Sometimes I reverse to sand.
Sorry if I missed this already but is this bowl food safe? Commentary on why or why not would be appreciated.... thx
@PFWoodturning
4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's food safe. The finish is Ack's wood paste and polishing paste--and it's food safe.
That's a great looking bowl Peggy! Maybe it's the way it looks on video, but it looks like the grain is closed. Do you know what type of oak it is? The figure in it is amazing! - Ed
@PFWoodturning
4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Ed. No idea what kind of oak it is, but it is certainly more closed grain than other oak I've turned.
Like your bowl what kinda oak is it ? And how dos that past hold up?
@PFWoodturning
4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Not exactly sure what kind of oak. The paste holds up great!
Simple and beautiful design. What kind of sanding sealer are you using that you dilute with alcohol? I use a cellulose sealer that is diluted with lacquer thinner. Keep the videos coming.

Nice work. Do you ever work with logs rather than blanks. That's what I do. It's a bit challenging to get it from the log to a blank
@PFWoodturning
4 жыл бұрын
Hi there. Yes, I use logs as well. I have a few drying right now.
It seems as if you decided to leave the bowl walls relatively thick. Was there a particular reason for this? Also, did you edit out sections of the turning process when you measured wall thickness for consistency, or was this unnecessary given the small size of the project? Finally, I would be curious to see how you processed the foot. Thanks.
@golf2actual375
4 жыл бұрын
Me too. Getting rid of the foot requires some skill and technique.
@PFWoodturning
4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yes, I left the wall thick for my own personal preference. Next time I will film taking off the foot. I was late getting a video out this week, so I was hurrying!
@PFWoodturning
4 жыл бұрын
Yes. I'll be sure to film it next time. Thanks!
Nice bowl as usual!!!! Some woods need to be colored and some need their natural beauty to be allowed to show. I'm curious to know about your embellishment issue. If it had something to do with the wall thickness of the bowl then I have an idea that may be able to help you out
@PFWoodturning
4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! no, the embellishment issue was that I didn't have the right kind of resin to use.
I'm a bit confused. You applied a sanding sealer / DNA , then applied another sanding sealer ACKS. Can you embellish why for a newb. Is the use of the sanding sealer/DNA a prep for the ACKs application? I'm sure it's not necessary, but the first I've seen you perform in that order.
@PFWoodturning
4 жыл бұрын
Hi there. I apply JUST DNA to get the dust off. Then I apply the sealer (which is 30% DNA). When that dries I start with the Ack's pastes.
Are the Ack's products food safe? I'm guessing your bowl -- beautifully done, btw -- is purely decorative since you used the denatured alcohol.
@PFWoodturning

Thank you. Yes, Ack's products are food safe.

I have carbide tools, I just don't use them too much. Just personal preference.
I would eat oatmeal out of that there bowl. Oak can be a disaster or a dream or both. Question for you tho Peggy. If you were to embellish with color, what color?
@PFWoodturning
4 жыл бұрын
If I were to embellish it would be an inlay around the rim...maybe pearl white.
I would like to ask you a question why do you mix your sanding sealer with denatured alcohol I’m kind of confused on that is that you need your alcohol is a cleaner but your sander is supposed to be video in it and it kind of policies are your word right well just let me know why you do that for yourself OK thank you God bless
