I saw the Rollins Band less than 24 hours before he played Woodstock. He had told us he was going to play in a field of aging hippies the next day when he was on stage. IMHO The Rollins Band was the best act at Woodstock 1994 and it wasn't even close.

I could not agree more! This is EXACTLY what I think when I watch his live performances. This was not a heavy metal concert. Some people were there to see Sheryl Crow. It was a pretty eclectic mix of music that weekend. But look at that crowd and how into it they are. I doubt many people were trying to create enough space for their friend to film them while they shuffled. I doubt many people retreated to their cars to hit dabs, disgustedly saying to their friends “what the fuck is this?! It’s ruining the whole vibe!” Probably more like “who the fuck is this?! Let’s go nuts!” People seemed to appreciate music more back then, across all spectrums.

I took some friends to see the Henry Rollins Band at the Silver Dollar in Toronto, they didnt know who he was just a "very heavy rock show" I told them. the audience was so lit and rowdy all my company of friends joined in to the mosh pit, shirts were ripped off, a nose broken and glasses and a shoe was lost. One of the best nights we ever had as young 20 somethings. Thanks Henry for the experience man, we still laugh at the fun insanity

Henry has said in recent years that when Melvin joined the band he enabled/magnified the jazzier, more elliptical tendencies of Chris and Sim, and as a result Henry had a harder time fitting himself into it. But I dunno, they always seemed tight af to me. I saw them 6-2-97 not long before this lineup ended and even then they were crushing it.

Early 1990s: The last time rock was truly relevant, subversive, and dangerous to the mainstream. There are still great artists, and great albums, and great shows coming from the rock music genre, but hip-hop took its place as a cultural force during the mid-90s while Clear Channel Communications neutered originality, demanded conformity, and let rock strangle on its own advancing age.

Is that music about peace and love maaan ??? Hmmm , Don't think sooo .... I know who stopped the rain the day before and who brought the rain that morning during the Rollins Band concert , even though the announcer said right before they started playing ," we don't know who stop the rain from falling yesterday, but today there's not a single cloud in the entire state of New York ". Go back and listen the archives. I was there too maaan (28 years old) and i was in '99 Woodstock. LOVE ,PEACE AND NOOOO FEAR MY FRIENDS. P.S. Hi to all my friends at Hector's Inn (Bethel ,NY) from hippie Dino ,the Greek.
