Im not a bird expert. But i think they see their own reflection in the lense. Resulting them thinking it is another bird. If male bird they thnking its a rival and will try to fight their own reflection. A friend of mine has peacocks and the male bird HATE black cars, because the color is best at making a reflection. So the dumdum always thougt there was a rival bird in the reflection.
