I agree that Woodkid has been underrated. This vid is 13 years old, so that's a view compilation over a long time. They were killing it in 2012, some of the earliest YT vids of awesome concerts. But there was so much else happening, like Nirvana, Oasis, & other giants. I'm glad their online distribution is working out great for them.

I'll give you a reason, I dislike the fact that woodkid decided to completely remove a song called "the spiteful chant" from all streaming platforms just because someone sampled that beat... pathetic.

The internet is real. True, but it still fits rather perfectly. I like to watch a story unfold in different ways.. It just depends on how you interpret the song. Perhaps watching a video along with it will help with a different story. To me, it only strengthens the song. The song alone is great, but you get a better understanding with the video, yes? Same here, And everytime I look at it, it almost makes me cry... Deep inside the boy knows they are going to die... But he is ready "for a fight, ready for fate"... The music powerfuly underlines the feeling of impending tragedy... With a sad smile he looks at the girl, moved by her bravery, her beauty, her purity... Soon to be removed from the face of the earth... Part of the fight is to protect that purity from the incoming dark forces... He then looks at his companions : the wolfmaster, the falconer, the priest, the rider, the warrior, the scout... Each one of them incarnating an unaldutered quality, an unadultered power and purity.. This is what they are fighting for : this purity and this innocence as incarnated by the sleeping child... And they are all going to die (because the current world doesn't value purity and innocence anymore), but it's a worthwile battle and so they are "ready for a fight, they are ready for fate...."

Not 100% sure because in a regular army many will be payed to fight + usually armies fighting will be with a 50/50 chances to win... Whereas here there is heroism, little bit like in the movie 300 but more heart touching because here it is young people who would probably prefer to live and love... Anyway since you like the song, a few comments lower someone was asking for similar ones and I was advicing him : • Burzum - Ansgardaraiwo For the Nordic-Viking atmosphere and the dark mood (like the bells from 100 churches warning of impending doom)... • Iron Sky - Theme Song [HD] For the cry to battle and the warlike theme + the powerful drumming in the background .. Just a pity there are no images to go with, but If you have imagination enough you can use your own like for Burzum some from the Witcher's video game ... Since we are at it : what makes you come again and again to this song : more the music or more the visuals (= the story) ?

It's very hard for me to describe what I feel about the music, the images and the lyrics of this song. It's like witnessing the agony of the world raging and seeking to be free, a spark of desolation that have been asleep for a long time, finally awakening, and one can't but join it or despair.

Same. I first didn't recognise it, then saw I had "liked" it before, then the first beats hit. I could barely contain myself when I realised why I knew it. Time to download the games again

Both song and video give off serious Dark Tower vibes, to the point I can't believe its not connected. Especially that boy with bird, he fits young Roland description 100%.

11 years later this song is still badass
