Woodchester Church Clock strikes 9

Ғылым және технология

This video shows our local church clock striking 9. You can first see the quarter chime on the right striking, then the hour strike on the left.
If you look carefully, you can see the laser beam hitting the phototransistor on the right at the end of the video. We use this to monitor the clock.

It sounds like they use the lowest tone quarter bell as the hour bell.

The striking fan was on warning before the chime started

@@Gearz-365 I know that. The question was a bit ironic, since the guy I replied to originally said it like it was a bad thing that the striking fan was on warning before the chime started.

where were the ropes that connect to the hammers that strike the bells? in the video I couldn't see the ropes that makes the hammer strike the bell

They are wires, not ropes. One left for the strike, and the ones for the chime on the right

You see the plastic pipe in the middle? One of the bell ropes goes through there. The other ones are directly below the respective bells.

I doubt it, Westminster Chimes are very rare in non English speaking European countries. The only places I in Europe can think of are the Roter Turm at Halle in Germany and the Hallgrimskirka in Reykjavik, Iceland.

At 0:03-0:07, what is the purpose of the brief spin of the mechanism before it actually chimes?

The reason the fly fan moves briefly at the beginning is because it unlocks the camm that releases the great wheel that turns and rings the bells.

Yes I know already .. I would not have here a clock tower with Westminster heard, perhaps 1/4 hours strike. This must be something typically English.

Jörg Langanki There are actually several church towers in Germany which sound the Westminster Quarters. They are quite uncommon, and most German towers use a simple "blind man's chime" on one or two bells.
