I like it Rus, keep the great ideas coming. I got a sugar plum burl today at my son's place. Can't wait for it to dry a little.

Thanks Dan. Waiting is one of the hardest things. Make sure you seal it. Fruit wood loves to crack.

It keeps the creativity alive. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for all the helpful videos. New to wood turning, I'm using carbide, stayed with your 2x4 idea, I seem to have significant tear out. Any ideas wood be appreciated.

I don't use carbide. The only suggestion with carbide is try tipping the blade about 45 degrees for more of a sheer cut. You could also coat the wood with a finishing oil. That will soften the fibers and cut down on tearout. Good luck.

@@RcWoodturning thank you
Really nice but why not start with a smaller blank?

This is what I had. But you definitely could.
Great ideas without spending a fortune on turning blanks. I really enjoy your videos. Congratulations on your craft show successes. I have to ask. What chuck and jaws did you use. Thanks again. Jon.

Thank you Jonathan! The silver chuck is a Nova. I got the aniversary edition. It came with 3 sets of jaws. The black one is a wen chuck. Very inexpensive and works great. Thanks for watching!

Sorry to bother you again Russ. What brand is the deep serrated jaws on the nova or is it a wen. I can't seem to find it except Vicmark. I'm a poor retired SENILE CITIZEN. Thanks again Jon F.

@@RcWoodturning Not the pin jaws. The ones with the grooves inside and outside. ???? Shark jaws ??

@@jonathanflynn9467 That's a smaller wen chuck. I got the jaws seperate. I'll have to look into it. Don't remember the model.
What gauge do you use for most of the work & what oil finish as I’m fairly new to the wood turning Cheers 👍👍

I use a 1/2 inch bowl gouge and friction polish for finish.
