Wonka | "A Good Chocolate" Clip - Only in Theaters December 15

Ойын-сауық

Only in theaters December 15. #WonkaMovie
Based on the extraordinary character at the center of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Roald Dahl’s most iconic children’s book and one of the best-selling children’s books of all time, “Wonka” tells the wondrous story of how the world’s greatest inventor, magician and chocolate-maker became the beloved Willy Wonka we know today.
From Paul King, writer/director of the “Paddington” films, David Heyman, producer of “Harry Potter,” “Gravity,” “Fantastic Beasts” and “Paddington,” and producers Alexandra Derbyshire (the “Paddington” films, “Jurassic World: Dominion”) and Luke Kelly (“Roald Dahl’s The Witches”), comes an intoxicating mix of magic and music, mayhem and emotion, all told with fabulous heart and humor. Starring Timothée Chalamet in the title role, this irresistibly vivid and inventive big screen spectacle will introduce audiences to a young Willy Wonka, chock-full of ideas and determined to change the world one delectable bite at a time-proving that the best things in life begin with a dream, and if you’re lucky enough to meet Willy Wonka, anything is possible.
Starring alongside Chalamet are Calah Lane (“The Day Shall Come”), Emmy and Peabody Award winner Keegan-Michael Key (“The Prom,” “Schmigadoon”), Paterson Joseph (“Vigil,” “Noughts + Crosses”), Matt Lucas (“Paddington,” “Little Britain”), Mathew Baynton (“The Wrong Mans,” “Ghosts”), Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins (“The Shape of Water,” the “Paddington” films, “Spencer”), Rowan Atkinson (the “Johnny English” and “Mr. Bean” films, “Love Actually”), Jim Carter (“Downton Abbey”), with Oscar winner Olivia Colman (“The Favourite,” “The Lost Daughter”) and Hugh Grant (“Paddington 2,” “A Very English Scandal”). The film also stars Natasha Rothwell (“White Lotus,” “Insecure”), Rich Fulcher (“Marriage Story,” “Disenchantment”), Rakhee Thakrar (“Sex Education,” “Four Weddings and a Funeral”), Tom Davis (“Paddington 2,” “King Gary”) and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (“Paddington 2,” “Zack Snyder’s Justice League,” “Mary Poppins Returns”).
Simon Farnaby (“Paddington 2”) & Paul King wrote the screenplay, based on a story by King and characters created by Roald Dahl. Michael Siegel, Cate Adams, Rosie
Alison and Tim Wellspring are serving as executive producers. King’s behind-the-scenes creative team includes director of photography Chung-Hoon Chung (“Last Night in Soho,” “Ah-ga-ssi”); Oscar-nominated production designer Nathan Crowley (“Tenet,” “Dunkirk”); editor Mark Everson (the “Paddington” films); Oscar-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming (the “Paddington” films, “Topsy-Turvy”); and composer Joby Talbot (the “Sing” films). Neil Hannon of the band The Divine Comedy is writing original songs for the film.
Warner Bros. Pictures Presents, in Association with Village Roadshow Pictures, a Heyday Films Production, a Paul King Confection, “Wonka,” set to open in theaters and in IMAX internationally beginning 6 December 2023 and in North America on December 15, 2023; it will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.

    Yeah, I don't get people saying that there isn't any of Wilder's psychotic side of wonka in Timothee's performance. It's subtle, but there are definitely moments where you can see the inkling of the crazy that Wilder's wonka showed off. Especially at the end when he glosses over whether or not the chocolatiers will come down from the extra-strength hoverchocs.

    I think that's on purpose. In-canon I'm willing to bet either the Hoverflies started to go extinct or Wonka realized putting insects in his chocolate isn't a great idea and started developing the Fizzy Lifting Drinks to replace what was his first public candy. It might also explain why he was so ticked about Charlie and Joe snagging those of all things when he had his big blowup at the end of the movie.

    Since the real Slugworth is present here that would explain why Wonka had Wilkinson pretend to be Slugworth to Augus, Violet, Veruca, Mike, & Charlie to test them since in reality none of them knew what the real Slugworth looked like. Not to mention I like how this movie also adapted more elements of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory like Fickelgruber, & Prodnose are present meaning that they existed in Willy and the Chocolate Factory but offscreen. I also like how this film has a diverse cast like having Slugworth being black & having Noodle as a niece it really just adds to the story so much.

    I like that Slugworth looks completely different from Mr. Wilkinson, who would later impersonate him. The Golden Ticket winners obviously have no idea what Slugworth looks like, but if people see the original film for the first time after seeing this film, they're going to see the impostor and be like, "Wait, that's not Slugworth. What's going on?"

  • @devonmartinez4961

    @devonmartinez4961

    I think that was the intention, Slugworth and the other two are only mentioned in the original book. We aren't even giving a depreciation of them, so we don't actually know what they look like. When they made the original movie in 1971 and introduced Wilkinson as Slugworth, they wanted him to look mysterious and menacing because he was supposed to be this Greedy, mean and nasty chocolate maker that stole from Wonka once before and wants to do it again. Having Peterson Joseph play Slugworth instead of someone who looked liked Günter Meisner ( the original Slugworth) makes sense because it gives us a chance to see the real character without being clouded by what we think we know. Does that help make sense?

His Wonka won't just be fun and funny and weird, I don't think. • @Jun1perB3rry
    @Jun1perB3rryАй бұрын

    Something I appreciate so much about this small clip is how much the music elevates the narrative so much, especially starting around 1:00. While Slugworth and the other chocolatiers are talking, there's a low, almost comedic villainous and moody menace in the score, showing their very uptight and prideful nature as well as their viciousness as capitalists in their chocolate economy. Putting down the new and innovative sweets of Wonka as 'weird' and unsavory, only to be caught off guard from their highhorses and begin to float up into the air thanks to Wonka's recipe. The music then shifts to reprising the Hoverchoc theme, and the instrumentation makes me think of a circus performance (which in this case it basically is). Not to mention, Wonka's outfit looks like a discolored Ringmaster's outfit, so it feels very intentional they scored it this way. It then swells into something grand and magical near the end, showing how much joy Wonka brings to the city through adding some humor and color to his chocolates while also toppling the very by-the-book strictness of the other chocolate makers. Absolutely wonderful stuff.

    Some of the best chocolates in the world are complicated. Marshmallow, caramel, and cherry probably isn't a good combination in real life, but there are some things that people like to mix with chocolate. That's what makes chocolate so great. There's nothing simple about it.

    @@manuelorozco7760 I just found out about the Moana remake the other night, feels so weird to think of a film being remade not even a decade later. It still won't have been a decade by the time the remake comes out. The How to Train Your Dragon reboot is another weird one, as that film series only concluded 4 years ago. I also really don't think it's wise for them to be doing it as a live action format, given the cartoony designs of some of the dragons (with some having a bug-eyed look to them).

    Chocolate is a vessel for it's own flavors(bittersweet to milk) and is also a vessel to bring other flavors in as well. It works especially well with mint and peanut butter. There is one ingredient that is considered the best friend of chocolate and that is actually salt. A small amount of salt in any baked chocolate recipe helps bring out the flavor. There are those that like salt directly on chocolate, not me but there are those that do. The three chocolatiers that Wonka goes up against have no imagination. Which is very sad. You want to try a variety of different chocolates from different chocolatiers, come on down to Salt Lake City, Utah. In places like London or a few other places in Europe, there is at the very least one specialty chocolate company and up to three at most. Salt Lake City, last I checked, has about five or six.
