    Can use a 7S nimh 9v battery (like EBL brand), buy 2 of them, keep one float charged at 1mA so they're ready to swap. Or just buy 1 of them, and use a USB input built in to the multimeter (as shown in video, but a booster supply instead of a charger) to go straight to a resistor (to limit current to 1mA) to the 7S 9v nimh battery, so that it can be charged when not in use. (Would take about 2 weeks to fully charge if flat, but nimh won't overcharge at this ~C/250 rate, hence also covering the issue of cell balancing.)

    Battery must be drained because it is boosted all the time even if the multimeter is switched off, u better put a switch button outside for battery connected to step up module

    Better to use 2S battery, with step up charger. Charging will go faster, with higher currents, and DCDC will be stopped when multimeter working.

    Interesting project although picking a multimeter for this is an odd choice imo. Would love to see a electronic tootbrush get converted from NiMH to LiPo with charge limiting for practically unlimited battery lifetime.

    If the USB-C jack is galvanic isolated from the multi meter itself then this is a smart idea, but if not, then it is potential dangerous.

    When I looked at the + and - leg of the multimeter from the USB jack with buzzer mode, I saw that there was no transmission. Do you think it is a sufficient test? Thank you for yor comment

  • @K2teknik.

    @K2teknik.

    2 ай бұрын

    @@LifeHackTipz No it is not a sufficient test, but it is sort of a starting point. You need a second multimeter and measure resistance from any/all pins and the shield of the USB to all of the input jacks of the multimeter one by one, and do this at all positions of the rotary dial's positions of the multimeter under test. You can make a custom USB cable with all pins shorted and connected to the shield as one measuring point, and a other custom cable with all the jacks of the multimeter under test shorted as the other measuring point, that will save you a lot of time. In the real world you would make this isolation test with a isolation tester with a testing voltage of 500-1000 Volt, but it may fry your multimeter under test. Professional multimeter's with build in rechargeable battery's have either galvanic isolated in the charging circuit, or they are made so that you just can't use the instrument while charging, and there are damn good reasons for this, that reason is your safety.

     @K2teknik. I will try the method you described with a second multimeter and a short-circuited type-c cable. Thanks for your information. I think thi test will be enough. I work with low voltage as a hobby and I don't want to fry my low-budget multimeter 😀 As you said, those who work with high voltages should prefer a more professional device. Have a nice day.

    The one I have is the TP-4056 clone. The problem was solved with the TP-4056 I bought from a different place. There are so many clone TP-4056 in the market. You need to be careful when buying. Additionally, it would be logical to add a switch between the booster and TP-4056. When the multimeter is off, the booster consumes a little electricity.
