Got the amazing blunt bob that you talk about. It makes a world of difference with my fine hair. How do I keep it from looking triangular though? It seems like all the weight settles down to the bottom after a bit and then I have the dreaded triangle bob. lol.

I love these videos, but I would love to see some specifically for people who have fine, thin curly or wavy hair and leave their hair in its natural state and air dry. It’s hard for me to get a good cut because a totally blunt cut won’t work for me because it sticks out to the sides on the bottom too much. Hair stylists always tell me I need more layers for movement and to create the right shape, but they often mess up my hair when they do layers, and I wind up miserable. It sometimes cuts my hair in the middle of my curl and makes my curls point towards my face instead of away also. Very annoying.

Omg I wish hair dressers would listen to this. I can’t tell you how many times how many years I ask for blunt and hairdresser tell me I need layers and I walk out with the thinnest hair ever and they have a sorry look on their face. It’s so hard to find someone who does blunt

Given up too! im tired of hairdressers saying that u need to highlight hair to get volume n that they can give u the perfect highlights (even w/a pic) then u walk out with damaged orange or yellow hair! BUT THEY WANT THEIR PMT (no discount, no ownership) but there's a cancellation fee?! San Antonio, TX hairdressers need 2b in school longer!

I've had bob length short hair many times before and I'm really considering getting n bob again cause my hair just feels bleh, but I'm scared cause currently my hair is the longest it's ever been even though it's really not that long. Update: I did the chop and I'm so happy my hair feels and looks so thick and so healthy now! Also all the frizz I previously had is gone. Girl do it, cut it! Long, stringy dead ends don't look cute or actually long at all.

You are clearly super experienced and talented and I’m looking forward to learning from you. Have been fascinated with makeup since a little girl, but I am stumped. My veins are really blue/purple, but my skin tone is definitely more golden/neutral. None of the usual things you look for in discerning undertone seem to clearly apply to me! I can find foundations that work, and all the brown/bronze etc eyeshadows. But I want to explore pink tones and lipstick-but don’t know where to begin!!! Any guidance?? ❤️

Unlike most stylists these ladies love their craft and constantly learn, share and evolve. My respects ladies! It’s not the norm, most are lazy and uninspired. Haven’t we experienced the stylist with a gorgeous cut that can’t actually create it. Wish I could ask for the lady that cut my stylists hair. I haven’t seen a good cut on myself for years and I’m not going to chop shops.

Last fall I made the mistake of getting a shag cut that my fine hair just couldn't get on board with no matter how much styling product or heated styling appliances I used. Now, as I grow that cut out, my hair is much more of a butterfly style, but I'm not too pleased. I'm on my way back to a long bob - slight layers, blunt ends, and slight A-line just below/around my collarbones. That style looks and feels great, my hair loves and rocks it, and my hair seems thicker and healthier with a Lob style.

Gabi, love your channel, you’re so fortunate to have such full, beautiful, versatile hair. Your hair may be fine, but you have an abundance. All the cuts you and Summer showed looked great, but none can be styled when your hair is wavy, thinning and frizzy through out. All the cuts are smooth and have blunt ends. Hair that’s frizzy can not carry these styles 🫤, without frying w heat tools.

I agree w/the other 2 commenters. You have plenty of hair. You have as much as I USED to have. When I gather all of my hair into a ponytail, the part gathered up is about the size of the tip of my pinkie finger at best. And it's fine.....& wavy. And then on top of that, I've have what looks like a huge part .....I've always had it but now it's much worse w/my hair thinning out to about 1/3 the amount I used to have...& it was never a thick head of hair.

I took Gabi's instructions for a blunt bob to my stylist last year and she's been following it to the tee ever since. Very good results; she was impressed with how just a few tweaks like the undercut at the nape of the neck worked. It's just a great cut, even looks good just out of bed. I also have very thin hair, always. And since menopause it became a bit thinner. I haven't heard this mentioned on Gabi's platform but I did begin low dose oral minoxidil from my dermatologist. We are at 64 mg at month 6. I did see the expected shedding increase at month 1 and since then a marked decrease in shedding and now baby hairs visible at my part and forehead where my hair line begins. My part is definitely narrowing. Not everyone can use LDOM but my derm says that it is effective but takes time. I might increase my dosage. And it is inexpensive.

As much as i love the idea of the bixie, i wouldnt go there at this time as i just git finish growing out my pixie a year ago. But its such a cute style, maybe someday, just not now. I love the butterfly cut idea as that would solve some of my weight problems. Im going to bring that up to my daughter who is also my stylist too. I'd love to do a full bang too, but in the summer i sweat too much and i straighten my wavy hair. So that might be too much work once the heat hits. So ill stick with my curtain bangs for now. Wavy hair can turn into a triangle when it is cut in a blunt way so if you want to wear it with waves, try the option that Summer suggested and get some light layering. Just a little bit of weight removed from the bottom will help the hair have more balance when it is curly and it will still look fantastic straight as well.

I was wondering, do you think you could include some ideas for postpartum fine curly hair (low maintenance)? I have fine curly type 2 hair, 1 year postpartum with hair fall of almost 40% , now about 5 cm regrowth that looks like a micro curly bangs that spreads on the sides and top of my ears. If I straighten my hair, the regrowth will curl back in few hours. Putting my hair up, will result in a Jane Austen hairstyle ... needless to say out of style. It's a one length lob now (diy), but still looks weird with all this length, thin from the ears down and this silly micro bangs. Is waiting patiently the only solution for this postpartum hair loss?

I think you need someone else to do it so they can clean it all up and even it out so that the in between stage isn't as painful.

The butterfly cut is a perfect example of a 90s haircut. It is beautiful because it is so bouncy and light BUT there is a lot of layering so you lose the baseline perimeter. If you hair is VERY fine and thin, I wouldn't suggest this because the ends will become too wispy. If you have a regular amount of density, you will be okay to get it as long as you go to someone who is skilled at cutting and can customize it to your hair.

Roll it. Use wide rollers and plop it on top of your head. If your hair doesn't take to heat styling well (mine doesn't and will drop the curl unless I absolutely fry it) do pin curls. I don't use bobby pins because my hair is so fine they fall out. I use snap clips which work like those 90s slap bracelets and are more secure. I do 4 pin curls, two on top and one on each side. If I do it while my hair is damp, when my hair dries I will have curls that last 1~3 days. The looser you roll them the more "wave" you will get and less curl, which is great for volume and texture. You can also do this on dry hair (for when you aren't washing your hair) for a touch up, however it doesn't last as long. Bonus, rolling takes ten minutes tops for my entire head since less hair means less pins!

That is how my hair is so I was so surprised how much I like my butterfly/layered cut! If you prefer your hair to look as thick as possible in the front, a bob is your best bet. I have the same issue as well. My hair has density at the back but next to no density at the front. For me, the biggest solution to this issue is to keep the sides completely un-layered. I recently got a modified butterfly cut like Summer did and the density is significantly minimized at the front but I still love it because I have more volume at the crown. It is all about finding the cut that works the best for you and what your end goal is.

Depends on how fine your hair is. If it’s VERY fine, you need to keep the baseline so you don’t want to get layers and make the baseline too thin. If you have a regular amount of density (amount of hair per square inch of scalp) but it’s fine in texture, you can get light layers. You just have to make sure that you’re always maintaining a strong perimeter or the hair will look too fine.

  • @StylesBySummer

Hair color can make a huge difference in making ones hair look look thicker! Having highlights expands your individual strand so it will look and feel a little more full. If your hair is very fine/thin I suggest keeping it more medium to short in length as when this hair type gets longer it can look thinner and lighter hair will increase that look. Overall a darker color tends to make the hair look more full, IMO.

What cut would you suggest and also, would I be better off on stage by fixing my hair (up do of some sort) from the start. Thanks 😊

Gabi, I know you have said before you look better w long hair and you feel the prettiest. I do think you look the best with short bob looking hair that's caramel. So posh and youthful. Just an opinion
