Ever since I was young me and my sister's played this game with my dad where we would attack each other and have to find a way out. most of the time my dad would be the "bad guy"or "monster" and he would attack when we least expected. I never realized how much this game did for me, most of the time I found it annoying since my dad would come and attack me out of nowhere. now I realize my dad was teaching us how to defend ourselves against any real life attackers. I'm not the strongest, tallest or biggest person but because of the little annoying game my dad played with us, we are able to fight off a full grown man if we have to.

+Fernando Wong she was walking home from school when a guy came from behind and grabbed her. She elbowed him hard enough for him to kinda bend and loosen his grip on her. she then found a way knee his face (if that makes sense) and ran as fast as she could. the guys nose didn't break but she did hurt it pretty bad. Also my dad always tells us that getting away from the situation is always better than staying there to fight the aggressor which is way she was mostly focused on find a way out and hurting him just enough that she'd have and advantage on him

true. glad you're not like other people in the comments saying that men get sexually assaulted more than women and stuff. it would also be good to teach this in schools at a youngish age because then kids would grow up knowing about this issues and maybe prevent them doing it when they're older.

@@crowinawell4635 yeah I've seen some info that says they won't bother if u look like trouble but since it's all about power I feel like there's also a chance it won't work. Also heard that playing batshit crazy works. And yelling there's fire instead of screaming for help (but I'm sure everyone learns that at like 5). I wonder if pretending to have a seizure or smth like that would work as well. I also carry a knife but I'm also afraid to actually use it because it might end up in his hands. I'm not a physically strong person someone sneezes at me and I'll break :') And spending the rest of my life in jail for defending myself is not a fun outcome too :S But all this stuff is for "stranger in the bushes" situation. Most of the times it's someone you know. That's why knowing how and where to hurt them (in a way that won't lend you in jail) comes in handy.

Most self defense is taught by men. I did karate for many years, i asked my sensei once why it seems to men teaching the self defence, he made a good point. Men know what a mans instinct in attack is, so who better to teach how to fight them off. Plus i personally would rather learn fighting off men with a man, fighting women is totally different, i fought in mixed tournaments and it was def a way different ball game with women

If you get attacked (which hopefully never happens) some weak points are •eyes •nose •ears •crotch •breasts •toes •fingers If you are being held from behind, drag your heel down your attacker's shin (especially effective with high heels) Aim for the stomach to try and wind them Try to draw blood Punch with your thumb on the outside and mainly using your elbow Use your knees, a knee to the stomach or crotch can be enough to get your attacker to the ground long enough to get away As soon as your attacker is on the ground run to the nearest busy place Remember adrenaline can make you more tolerant to pain so it may take more than a punch to get them to the ground Stay safe and if you can think of anymore comment them because it might help someone out one day

Muscle memory. You need to practice till it's instinct. And keep practicing. Years ago I watched a video like this, but later on they ambushed the women to see how they would react, they freaked out and didn't do what they were taught. It's a perishable skill. Use it or lose it.

I need to do a self-defense class! I was repeatedly bashed and raped for 2 hours 5 years ago when I was 16 and unfortunately, I became paralyzed with fear before I was able to defend myself. By the time I was able to fight back, he had completely over-powered me. I don't blame myself or my body for reacting in that way, however, I know that if I had done a class like this, I could've gotten away faster. You can't prepare for an attack but knowing how to defend yourself is incredibly important and I'm ready to learn. Stay safe, everyone and be strong!

I recommend martial arts. Martial arts is much more than self defence, it’s the ability to tap into your person strength. Martial arts taught me so much about myself at a time when I was struggling most with confidence. I recommend you go talk to an instructor near you. They will go at the pace you need. I’m incredibly sorry this experience happened to you. I hope you never have to deal with evil like that again.

Except a brief self-defense class is quite useless. Do you want to maintain a level of skill and physical fitness that will give you a good chance to fend of the average male? Well that is now your life-long hobby. You can not take a class, and then it will work 2 years later. You need to keep at it. Even if you are an accomplished martial artist, your skills are perishable.

I told my friends that I'm pe classes we should be taught self defence, the boys were taught that, but what were the girls taught? Dance. Someone tried to attack a girl walking home a couple weeks later and she only really got away because she had a hockey stick with her.

Get a gun, get training, practice. If you do martial arts you might spend a full month of training sessions to work on one single move. A self-defense class has some value for about 1 month perhaps then it is pretty much gone when it comes to a real situation. So either become an amateur mma girl or get a gun.

Especially as their skills to do any of these moves go away after two weeks. A fun fact, people in martial arts that get a black belt do not high five each other and stop doing it. It is a perishable skill. You need to keep doing it, and do it. And do it more. Or you can perhaps get a mechanical device that evens the playing field and requires less time to provide a good defense.

+Haily Bui The problem is most self defense classes are really crappy. I think it would be great to have some at school, but the classes that were offered at our school were really bad (I only went because a friend of mine didn't want to go on her own, I've been doing self defence and Judo/mixed Marshall Arts since I was 6 so sadly I knew more than the "instructor") Girls don't need dozens of techniques they need two to three universal ones and enough training to know where to hit and how to fall without knocking yourself out or breaking your wrist. The point is everyone could do it, if the instructor does it right

It's also important to point out that in 90% of cases, victims know their attacker (in sexual attacks). This would probably be better if someone is trying to punch you or rob you on the streets, but if a friend or loved one starts attacking you, you gotta be ready to hurt them as well even if you thought you loved and trust them. Also, women can be attackers, and men can be victims. But great video of course, it's always awesome to see the Ladylike crew do a wide variety of things, from make-up to more action-packed topics! :)

For self defense and fighting skills is suggest trying KMRED (Krav Maga RED). It is fairly new and is adapted to real life and street fights. It is NOT a sport because the main goal is to do as much damage as possible in a short time so you can escape the situation. It is not for spectators and is not meant to look beautiful - just effective.

I liked the fact that they had the right amount of fear, as if the teacher actually was someone who was trying to hurt them and they were able to use it to "fight" him off, and he showed them the different real situations that could possibly happen. That's why I clarified I'm in Arizona where you can legally carry without a permit as long as you're 18. You can conceal carry at 21 without a permit as well, but it's worth getting a permit to conceal. It would help with any legal problems if you ever had to draw your ccw.
