Women's Self-defense Technique - Man Pinning Both Wrists in Mount Position

Спорт

This is an 8-minute "Slice" or variation from Lesson 4 of our new women's self-defense program, Women Empowered 2.0. The complete lesson is 62 minutes long and there are 20 lessons in total!
For the first time ever, you can get certified to teach the Women Empowered program anywhere in the world! In the past, in order for someone to be considered for instructor certification in the Women Empowered program, they had to own or operate a professional martial arts school. We have since realized that in order for this program to reach women everywhere, we had to eliminate this entry barrier. Women Empowered 2.0 was designed from the ground up with this objective in mind, such that any person who successfully completes the curriculum and achieves a score of 95 or higher on the Pink Belt Test will be invited to participate in the Women Empowered Instructor Certification Program (WE ICP). Those who graduate from the WE ICP will be certified and authorized to teach Women Empowered anywhere in the world, for profit or not! Our goal is to have certified instructors in every city around the world so that Women Empowered is being offered in every fitness studio, college campus, church, military base and beyond. There are women all over the world haven't yet found jiu-jitsu, and with your help, jiu-jitsu will find them!

When I was attacked by a man I did not allow him to know my strength. I knew he would overcome me at my strongest point, so I became quite limp, this reduced the pressure he placed on my arms with his grip so they did not hurt as much. He became concentrated on his next move and at that point I struck and wriggled my arms free, pulled hair and punched as hard as I could. I started yelling and he kicked me very hard in the shin and I nearly collapsed and he thought he had me but at that point I smashed him very hard in the nose. I was lucky because at this point some men arrived and helped me. I don't like fighting at all, I am not a fighter but I was not going to allow him to do what he wanted. These techniques are useful to know, also that you can fight people stronger if you keep calm and if you believe in yourself.

My dad was martial arts trained and tried to teach me, but I never liked it. I remembered though that he told me to never hit the nose flat but to punch up and I did this, it seemed to really knock him off his concentration.

I’m always suspicious of these self defense techniques. Most of them don’t work without a lot of cooperation. I was hopeful yet skeptical about this. I was willing to give out a shot because of the Gracie name. I showed this video to my 14 year old daughter then had her try it against me. I am 6’4” and about 250 pounds. After a single view of the video she was able to break free from my grasp easily. I was NOT being cooperative. I was holding hard and trying to not let go. This is amazing and I definitely want to go through the whole program with both of my daughters

Well well, I'm 5,01 and my boyfriend is about 6,13. Play fighting with him taught me very well that the only thing that small people can do is to play dirty. Never did with him, but biting a nipple, lower lip, grabbing an ear and twisting it, kneeing the crotch or raking the nails are about some of the few things that can stun a bigger opponent enought to give a moment to wiggle away and escape. The goal is simply to gtfo, forget submission. Also, kidneys are sensitive. But the moment someone grab your hair you are toast.

Yeah whats also horrible is that its hard even if if they arent strong (yes there are instances where ppl weaker than you assault you yet its hard to do stuff abt it) but they are your close aquaintainces/friends which causes ppl to be shocked and freeze since it was unexpected and hesitate because its easier to hit a random creep than a loved one/friend thats a creep (thats why interpersonal relationship violence is so scary). Or pulling this in public in front of aquaintainces in a way thats not visible to them but known to victim only subtly because even tho its said to scream etc most ppl are too embarassed to say a thing till it escalates especially if ppl surrounding you/your society seems like/is full of victim blamers/shamers than helpful and its not even a matter of strength any more, which is why even men are vulnerable to sexual assaults. And thats why its not a physical/sexual violation alone but also a violation of trust, psychological + verbal, reputational and emotional violation and makes it hard to trust any one that touches you and sometimes even talks to you. And may be one of the rare ways to recover that trust is to meet as many good people as we can and find healthier relationships even if our trust might have been broken by people we trusted. But also learn psychological+verbal+textual+emotional+ physical defense (not just one), understand your own and criminals psychology and use the information and awareness to your advantage. And there are myriads of resources online to learn from. And if all else including online self help fails you can always ask for help from a therapist. And believe you will get through this, not right away but as you learn, change psychologically/physically and in time emotional wounds may reduce.

Right, it’s also about muscle memory. If you only do it once or twice it’s not going to work, you have to practice a lot so it’s like second nature to you, so that it becomes a reflex because in a stressful situation you probably won’t remember to do this. I mean most people would just scream and flail around. If you’re panicking you can’t pull it off so you have to stay calm. Also consider that these people might be on drugs, steroids, or be drunk so they might not feel pain like normal people.

But when I tried it with a student, who was very athletic (5ft 6 in. 130/5-ish lbs rock climber and martial artist of 4 years) she was able to do this exactly. In my particular case, I managed to climb a tree before he got to me. Most people can't climb for shit, even on adrenaline. He couldn't. I was raised in a martial arts oriented family with 2 brothers who had 2nd and 3rd degree black belts. Besides their coaching, I belonged to a dojo and trained in martial arts for 4 years before having to stop when I became pregnant with my first child. I lived and breathed karate my entire life, and won many awards & trophies in both sparring and Kata, at tournaments (besides getting my butt kicked on a regular basis by my brothers. Lol). Fast forward 10 years and I was unfortunately married to what turned out to be a very abusive man. He exploded one day, locked me in a bedroom and sucker-punched me across the face. I tried to fight back, but NONE of the martial arts techniques I was taught over the years worked. None of them. He had me on the floor in the position described in this video. I couldn't move or try the technique suggested, simply because he had his weight shifted back and was basically "sitting" down on my hips. I was powerless. When someone is a lot stronger than you are, and they surprise you with the first hit (which can be really disorienting and painful), sometimes all that training just doesn't work. At least it didn't for me. It's been years since I left him (I had to pack up and leave in one day while he was out of town for business). I took basically the clothes on my back my dog. I'm still afraid to be in another relationship.

To all the people who say it won't work. There are no techniques that will work 100% of the time. But it's better to have a plan and get a chance to escape than give in to the offender. However, every technique must be practiced properly over and over again to be able to perform it and succeed if needed. Stay safe, everyone. Always be aware of your surroundings and remember to maintain as much distance as possible from offender at all times.

Thank you for this video. The best help for eliminating attackers to have the advantage is to teach women, and men, how best to overcome the attacker and escape. To me, when someone (usually a man attacking a woman) attacks another I no longer view them as a man or woman, but of dark energy. Unfortunately, most women are sheltered by loved ones and are not taught how to confront this dark energy through self defense. Remember everyone, by not teaching women in your life how to protect herself you are only enabling the dark energy. No fear...do not live in fear. Learn techniques and how to use and utilize the necessary tools to take care of yourself.

ramon 19, She is in no pain right now. Assuming a rapist would put you in no pain is idiocy, suppose he started twisting her wrists almost to the breaking point would she still be able to get out? Before you say yes you must acknowledge that pain can easily send the person in pain into a state of panic. When you start to panic you stop thinking. In this situation during a state of panic the brain would most likely resort to trying to free the arms. The only way that this would truly work is if they were trained is some form of combat which most people are not. I believe you would be better off biting the shit out of his arm. He can’t use both of his hands to pin your wrists and immobilize your head at the same time. Then when he releases your wrist go for his eyes or dick most likely the dick as it is easily injured with one hand. I’m not an expert by any means however I feel my method would work much better in a state of panic. There isn’t a way to train a woman to fight off rape because no man you hired would be barbaric enough to make the scenario realistic.

My older sister Jenelle taught me this move and I had to use this once. In high school and college I was a cheer leader. It was my sophomore year of high school and after the one home football game we went back to the locker room and I put a sweatshirt on over my uniform top. I was the last one out so I come out of the locker room to meet up with the rest of the girls. All of a sudden I get grabbed by my pony tail and I get put against the wall. I realize it’s a boy so I try to leave but he pulls me back. I yell at him to get off of me and I slap him. He then immediately slaps me in the face. At the same time he grabs my leg I’m thinking he’s about to put his hand up my skirt. He pulls my leg out from under me and puts me on the ground and he then mounts me. I’m screaming at him he then slaps me again and pins my arms like this and says I see you’re a feisty one. He then says that feistiness is going to get you killed bitch. I all of a sudden remembered what my sister had taught me. So I used this move and it worked. As I rolled him over I gave him a quick punch to the face and I grabbed my equipment bag and ran. I could hear people yelling Kristen I knew my girls were looking for me I ended up running into the rest of the girls which they were coming back to try to find me. Then all of a sudden heard someone yell you’re in trouble now bitch he came looking for me but when he saw that I had my girls backing me up and Jamie our squad captain said to him if you take one more step towards her meaning me that she as bd the rest of the girls would hurt him he needed to get away and he ran away.

GracieBreakdown quick question, I find jiu jitsu really interesting and am seriously thinking about joining a class, should I start with gi or no gi training? Self defense would be one reason I would start training so I’m thinking no gi maybe. Any input would be much appreciated. Love your videos too

@Orangeassassin65 You're an idiot. It's because females are physically weaker than males and require more training to compensate and are also targeted more as victims of rape, assault etc. It's just common sense.

Please be careful hoping this will work. I am a 165lb construction worker my wife and daughter are crazy fit and do spartan racing the two of them together can't get loose if I hold them down and I'm being gentle. Granted some men aren't fit, but men are very strong. Stronger than most women think. It is best to avoid potentially dangerous situations.

I see a flaw in the start of this. The guy locking his arms straight out then supporting himself on her arms at that 80° angle. The escape relies on changing that angle and tipping him over so his body is no longer parallel to the ground. (2:08) If he is quick enough to react he would bend his elbows a bit and bear down more weight to stay in place (like a pushup).

love this. wanted to add you can also soften your assailant with some good stomps first. cant really train with a partner on this for obvious reasons, but if you wanna soften them up first and you are in a position to? stomp down on the ankle shin area before the hip thrust. can maybe break it if your lucky and at least redirect their focus with some pain if you arent as lucky. ideally smash the foot of the same leg as the arm you are targeting to grab and roll out of the mount. also reccomend carrying at least a knife in the shoe and stabbing them like youre the only employee at the swiss cheese factory and the machines went down but hey at least you have a hole punch and 2 hours to meet your deadline. everyones strong till they got extra unwanted holes in em.

@@bobs5123 oh 100%! that said theres a lot of restrictions for vulnerable people that need to stay strapped the most. ableism and misogyny are constantly used as a weapon against women by their abusers and bigotry is so inherently and purposefully baked in to the system of law enforcement and gun restrictions that it keeps many groups of people (bipoc, lgbtq+,etc.) defenseless and disarmed while ruining gun ownership with silly rules and restrictions rooted in ignorant, bigoted fearmongering rather than the facts (like gravity knives, sawed off shotguns, and the like). if you can carry a gun, definitely carry a gun. but not everyone can, and those of us that carry often such as myself still may not have a gun every single time a threat happens. (not to mention that a hand combat opponent can close a 40 fast enough where drawing from a holster may not be fast enough every time. ) still 100% would rather have a gun in that sitch, but relying on one tool is complacency and death. one mind any weapon as the marines would say.

Comply. Sex is the healthiest thing a human could hope for, and it is extremely detrimental to mental health not to engage in unprotected intercourse. Yes, from the moment you hit puberty you NEED to fuck, regardless of age. So stop worrying about resisting and start thinking about who is best suited to ram you.

My bf at the time (now, ex) pinned me down like this when I refused to have sex with him one night. I had never been frightened of him until then. As much as I pushed up with my arms, tried to struggle from underneath him, screamed 'No!' and 'Stop!' repeatedly, I couldn't get him off of me. When he was done and rolled over to fall asleep, I got the hell out of there. Never again am I going to be so unprepared! Thank you for sharing these techniques.
