I think they set up the family camera and all that ahead of time. The US media coverage through NBC was all eyes on Jacoby after this event though

LYDIA HADNT WON AN INTERNATIONAL RACE BEFORE THIS. She wasn't even the fastest USA competitor - up to this race. Absolutely the cameras should have remained on the winner - Jacoby. World record time. Gold medal swim.

A plus! Caught a glimpse of her victory just before walking back into work at Vanderbilt offsite. 😁

Schoenmaker and King have the same style breaststrokes, a very “vertical” style with their heads bopping up and down through the water as they go through their strokes. Jacoby, on the other hand, has a much more “horizontal” style, lower down into the water. That style of Jacoby’s seems well-suited for sprinting at the end of a race.

with a vertical style u can push ur body way further/better than with a horizontal style therefore better for sprints...

I'm always curious to know their height. I swam in the '60s and have always wondered how important height is in swimming.

I know nothing about swimming but the first thought i have for lydia's swimming was "it looks elegant" 😂 how she doesnt go that high when breathing(?)
