Parker found a bit of a kick. She’s a superstar. Congrats Parker. I don’t think people realise how young she is for this distance. Huge huge future. I always thought the 5k but it’s going to be 10k wow

At this point she’s still not on the team. Both Valby and Schweizer are hoping they are high enough in the world rankings that come out later today to get in. As of now they are both too far down to be likely to make it (Schweizer 55, Valby 81) The rankings are based on a clearly defined point system. They will definitely get points for this race but will it be enough?

@@classicalwit I agree, she did far better than I expected at this point in her running career. She has a very bright future. At the same time the fact that only three US men and two US women had met the Olympic standard for the 10,000 (Alicia Monson is the other woman and she is out for the season with an injury) indicates the sad state of distance running in this country.

Not fast enough for the 5000m at the professional level but 10,000m shows promise. Lots of development still needed as the World runners are much faster than the US in the 10,000m.

Congrats to the top three finishers. Very exciting and enjoyable race. And goodness, such awesome runners. I'm so happy for Kelati. What an extraordinary life story she has. And Schweizer is having such an amazing year in running. I think it was very smart of Parker to not try to lead the race from the beginning. Conserve your energy as much as possible so you can stay with the runners at the end. She is learning and growing. When she runs against the world's top runners at the Olympics, it will be another huge learning experience. For her to finish in 2nd in this race is awesome. Go Team USA!

Elly Henes has ran a 14:47 5k and 30:48 10k last year...if only the olympic trials was held last year she'd be a household name and probably an Olympian in one of those. Someone has to acknowledge this, she is one of the few NCAA champs in the last 4 years who actually got significantly better as a pro, but she hasn't peaked at the time of big events.

In due time she dominate any distance.. most important factor she's 🎉 going the main arena

@@CCat52 Sorry, that’s not correct. The world rankings are based on events within the past 12 or 18 months (depending on the event) and must include a minimum number of competitions. The calculation is a combination of performance scores (based on place and time), event rankings, and other elements. There is a long description of the methodology on the World Athletics web site.

She did, it it's her ranking and points based on all her races this year I believe in that event. For the 5k if any of the top three winners who are all doubling decide only to race the 1500, then she would be number 3 on the 5k team. So basically she probably will be in the 10k and 5k, but will probably only do one. We will know within a week or so for the 10k.

However she goes to Paris only if the USATF selects her which apparently they will not which means that slot is instead made available to the rankings-based pool.
