Woman Wakes Up to Intruder Standing Over Her While She Slept

An Iowa family hasn’t been the same since they say a man entered their apartment in the middle of the night. Brittany Andrews says she, her husband, their five children and her mother-in-law were home at the time. Andrews says her mother-in-law was sleeping on the couch in the living room and woke up to a stranger standing over her. The man was in the apartment for about 30 minutes before he startled her awake and ran out the door. Inside Edition Digital’s Mara Montalbano has more.

My brother did this once. He worked at the railway and had been working on very little sleep. He stopped overnight at his dad's house that he'd only been to once before. He went in ate food out of the fridge, had a shower then went to sleep on the couch. The home owner woke up and found my brother asleep on the couch and called the cops. He woke up to police standing above him. I absolutely understand how terrified she must have been...my brother is 6'4 and huge😅. Luckily the police believed him and let him go next door to his dad's.

I feel like this could of been way worse, and it’s a good thing that the suspect did not hurt, harm, steal or even murder someone in the home. We see many videos of intoxicated people going into the wrong homes. Trying to punish this person so harshly if they were in fact intoxicated and staying at a friends house and went into a friends house just to me seems really harsh when you have the peace of your whole family being in one piece and no one or nobody being harmed or having any reported threats. If any one needs to have reinforcement of a lesson it’s the son who should know by the mother and father to always lock the door, especially at night. I’m not here to judge anyone, but it was a surprise to see and hear the mom really wanting retribution and punishment for the action.

What this guy did was wrong/weird, but how do you leave your door unlocked, especially for an apartment? You're lucky it wasn't someone worse. This exact situation happened to me.. I got too drunk one night so instead of going out with friends I decided to go to bed. Next thing I know I’m standing over some random dudes bed while he’s sounds asleep in nothing but my boxers.. I quickly ran to the front door, which I left wide open, and exited the home. This house was about 2 blocks away from my house lol and a place I’ve never been in my life. It was also winter and I was practically naked. Super thankful I didn’t wake up in a prison cell or not at all. Sleep walking (especially drunk) is no joke

One time I was very drunk and I woke up and went to the restroom and then I noticed this guy in my bed. We ended up dating for a couple months. I guess I met him at the bar and I did not remember meeting him.

He turned himself in. At this point, I would leave the guy alone. The overplayed rhetoric of "I apologize" is overrated nowadays. The guy was extremely drunk and is clearly not violent. Your son on the other hand needs to be taught a lesson for leaving the door open.

@Allison Maldonado yes. I agree. And he should go to jail. And he did. Because he turned himself in. The action of turning yourself in speaks more than to say "I'm sorry" (an overplayed concept with no deep meaning anymore)... turning yourself in, however, speaks with much more volume than a so-called apology.

  • @jns2820

@Allison Maldonado I would also add, no one's life was "ruined". No one was killed, beaten, or kidnapped. ...A few nightmares, yes, and some panic, maybe, but everyone in that house hold will be able to work, provide, and live a more cautious life by locking the door from now on. You want to know what a ruined life is go see the Vets homes, the cities in the Midwest with people dying of narcotics, war torn counries etc. Also, people in Caribbean countries go through that all the time like in Dominican Republic. Bad experience but none of the people will tell you that their lives were ruined. It takes a little more than that.
