    Cats are gentle creatures. When you are depressed or crying because you are sad, have you ever noticed your cat snuggling close to you or staring at you with concern? Cats don't use their whole body to express their emotions like dogs do, but they are gentle creatures that will snuggle up to you when you are sad or depressed.

    A therapist once told me, when you tell am only child “you’re going to get a little sibling! But don’t worry, we will love you and her equally” the child can experience it similarly to a woman whose husband tells her “I’m getting another partner! But don’t worry, I will love her and you equally.” Obviously it is not the same, because the parent never promised the oldest child (or cat!) that they would be their only one, but if it’s all the child or cat knows, it feels similar. So yes, territoriality definitely exists, for cats as well as children. But you can eventually get them used to it, and to even appreciate and love their sibling.

    Introducing cats to each other can be a delicate thing. Doing it wrong cat lead to cats hating each other for life. You can find videos on how to do it gradually on youtube of course. Sometimes they just get used to each other, but not always.1:30 Generally though, once cats start grooming each other, they're friends and you can relax.

    @ILuvAyeAye

    I know, that can happen too. I was relieved to hear that Jackson Galaxy say that he has a house full of cats, and they definitely don’t all get along. The goal is an uneasy standoff, it doesn’t have to be perfect. Is your cat getting abscesses? Apparently a “real” cat fight will result in blood or abscesses. If not, the one doing the chasing probably thinks it’s fun, but that doesn’t mean the one being chased is enjoying it. Trying to tire out the chasing cat by playing a lot can help, but it is hard. Good luck. I know it’s never simple.

    Just today i woke up to two big beautiful male cats (one white and another black) hissing, growling their lungs out at each other. I am extremely sure that this is happening as i already put food in my front yard for stray cats and i have seen them before also many times but on separate occasions, I thought maybe these cats have figured a way to live in peace and harmony but was i dead wrong about it. Could you please suggest some practical solution to this. I am willing to feed both of them as im already feeding two other female cats, until they cause a problem to the female cats. P.S. they are a little bit scared from me as when i went out to stop the fight, at first they were reluctant to leave their positions, but as i got closer and closer they ran away in different directions.

    We were fortunate to be adopted by two neighborhood strays, who proceeded to gift us with nine beautiful princes and princesses. Harley and Ivy (the mommies) are a bonded mother and daughter, and were taken by a great family, as were all seven demon cupcakes. Vincenzo and Michelangelo are as bonded as their mother and aunt, and have remained with us. This was my first experience as a foster, or whatever happened, and I haven't had another like it in 60 years. When we dropped them off at the shelter, I cried like I had just found out the moon wasn't real.

    NEVER LET THE CAT'S FIGHT IT OUT!!!! Most cats who "Fight it out" end up fighting thier entire lives and are very unhappy and stressed. Please don't upload videos with incorrect information about inducing animals to each other. Cats should always be introduced slowly through scent swapping first, sight swapping, then gradual introduction through a gated door during meals.

    Especially if one of the cats turns into a bully who thinks it's funny to make the other cat mad. Been there. The only time they could be in the same room peacefully was if one of them was on my lap, where they both knew I wasn't going to let the other attack.

    Fully agree. I've seen what happens when cats are introduced like this....this one ended OK, but my aunt's cats hated each other. Thankfully, when she adopted another cat after one of the old ones passed, she did things the right way and introduced them to each other slowly. They do sometimes annoy each other, but I think thats more of a "OK, you've been grooming me for too long, let me go" kinda annoyed, so nothing bad.

That made me sad and annoyed when she said that because I have seen multiple instances where things don’t end up like they did in this video and one cat ends up living in fear/extremely unhappy and confined to certain areas because the other cat doesn’t accept them. Please do not just let the cats “fight it out”!

    Im sorry but this isn't a coincidence that Lychee here was sulky and impulsive towards Taro. When a new cat is introduced, the previous kitty isn't acting violent or "jealous" just for the sake of being sulky like humans. Cats are territorial and when a new cat is approaching their "territory" in this case the owners home and the owners, they get scared that they are losing dominance over their residence, just like when a random stranger just appeared to stay at your place, eating your food,using your belongings etc! The scent and presence of an another cat can trigger a lot of unwanted behaviour like attacking the other cat to fight over the territory, spraying which is peeing over areas where another cat could be smelled or seen. You should introduced your cats slowly like another comment had said, through feeding cats in seperate rooms and that way they can get acclimated to the scent of the other cat and slowly be less aggresive to the other cat then you can slowly feed through a mesh where after a while you fed them in seperate rooms to again slowly get to know the other cat.Then once you feel it is safe then introduced the kitties together in a situation where if you need to seperate them from a fight, that you can. This regime of introducing may sound like a joke but it's better safe than sorry, unless you intend on stressing the cats involved. Sometimes you can have a smooth transition of introducting of the kitties and sometimes you don't ; situations like I stated could happen. So while I'm glad that Lychee and Taro got along well at the end, a part of me is rubbed the wrong way when the owners i the video had said " We read that soemtimes you just need to let the cats fight it out and it'll be fine" or something of those lines, you can imagine the discomfort I felt when they said that.Sorry if I sound dramatic but that is a no-go in my book. I'm worried if other cat parents impulsively get another kitty while already having one at home that they wont have the same happy ending as this video here. To put this into perspective, imagine you as a child maybe and your parents decided to have a sibling for you to play with.Some kids would excited and overjoyed to have a sibling while others would get jealous and angry that the new baby is gaining the spotlight while children can communicate through words and their emotion as we can understand them.Cats can't literally SAY anything but their body language shows what they're feeling so keep a eye on their communication. Remember when you're dealing with pets, to always, Always remember to research to deal with new pets!! Just because they got along with each other after SOME TIME, this could stress out your existent cat if you hand them a "cat sibling" when they haven't introduced them safely and calmly, that cats wouldn't be aggressive against each other. I'm not a cat expert but this sort of irritated me that the cat seemed to be forced into meeting before they were ready, not sending hate but yeah... Please dont assume that all things will work out and everything is fine. Sometimes things cannot be helped and thats just life. Again not sending hate and a warning to future cat parents wanting a new cat into their homes.

    The cat doing the grooming is usually the dominant cat, or trying to become dominant. The one receiving the grooms is being submissive. Some partnerships take turns of course but usually it's one cat grooming the other and you can tell top cat from this. However it doesn't really matter if both cats are happy together. Or three or more, I've got one dominant cat that grooms the other two, the two submissive cats get very confused asking each other for grooms as neither of them want to be the groomer, lol.

    @@_inflection3209 I have to admit that I twice failed (different cats) at introducing cats the standard way by separating them and using scent swapping. However, I think I should have given it more time.
