I really admire people like you. Adopting a senior pet is a selfless act. For them the new family is their everything and they can finally live their last years in happiness. For the family however, in my eyes, it's very painful, because you won't have much time to spend with them and therefore suffering will come a lot faster if that makes sense? That's love right there. Putting the pet's happiness above yours, knowing that they will spend the rest of their lives with you, but you will only spend a short span of yours with them. Oh boy, this thought makes me cry so much.

With that many dogs I was really impressed with how clean the facility is. I did not see feces or matted dogs. This is most impressive what this woman is doing. I realize many probably lost their owners due to death or health issues. Many however were probably rejected just because they got old. So sad. I've kept all my animals until their death except one which was a chinchilla. I found him a very loving home with another chinchilla. I just didn't have time for him at the time and I've had many animals. So wonderful what this woman is doing. ❤

At rescue sites, one common way I saw dogs left was when their owner died and family did nothing, just discarded dog. Some were just put out of the home, no rescue requested. Those people are heartless . So many of those dogs were small and when at rescues, they adopt out pretty fast. The seniors are slower to get picked. I understand the financial expense some seniors take, which grieves me because I would help more were it not for money. But isn't it great that MORE senior dog rescues are oiut there. NOW we need cats to have same.

We went through a lot of hardship together but the last few years of his life were stable and full of love. It warms my heart to see so many senior dogs loved and taken care of because that's when they need us the most, to know that they have someome who loves them and all of their needs taken care of before they pass on. Bless these people for what they do.

He's still healthy, but he's an old boy and I knew what I was getting into when I got him. Anyone that takes on the care and responsibility for so many of these elder angels is a saint. It breaks my heart to think of my old boy being gone. I couldn't imagine having to deal with that on a much larger scale. This was one of the most epic stories at The Dodo. I am happy that this place exists and how dedicated they all are there. This place would make me happy too. All those cute and thankful little angels. I am just like how do they do it? It must cost a fortune. A place like that is so important. I once sat at a vet with my dad and our sick family dog. A woman came in with an elderly lady dog. I was eighteen at the time but the female dog was 19. Her owner had died that night of old age and sickness and the dog was now left behind. The neighbor brought the female dog, who was already sick, to the vet to let her put down to spare her to have to go to a shelter in her old age. But the dog seemed still to be somewhat okay, so that they all were not happy about that decision. If this place here had been there that cute dog could have gone there. It was a Dalmatian and for me it was impressive to meet a dog who was older than me at that age. They put her down in the end cause she was sick too but we all felt bad sad about it. To put such a dog down. I think the owner would have cried her heart out about it. To get a dog to be that old means that you have been a good owner to them. It was just sad.
