Learned that at least for LAPD, you pass one physical test and NEVER have to stay in shape again, plus some of the built guys even said its hard to chase people who aren't carrying anything while officers have like 30 pounds of equipment. If you see an officer actually keeping pace with some goon in sneakers and a t-shirt, they're doing a pretty good job.

PT standards depends on the agency you work for. They all have different SOPs as far as PT goes. When I was a state police cadet our agency required an annual physical and if you failed you had 6 months to prepare yourself for a retest and if you failed retest then you got the boot which includes your pension and benefits. A lot of rural agencies don't keep up with PT practices and I'm shocked to hear LAPD doesn't have continuous PT protocols. Usually your larger city agencies are strict on it. Also contrary to what people think foot chases don't happen that often or not at all if you have a positive ID on your suspect. You just file the capias and pick them up later.

I agree. I been hit by a drunk driver here in Houston where we have the highest rate of drunk drives in US. And I live north side more Country which is worse. And this guy tried to run. Texas state trooper caught him and did the test in front of me while I was being checked by medics and now I have permit back and kneck issues and ptsd at every light I'm parked at mostly at night. You don't drive better drunk. You risk killing yourself or even worse a family or someone's mother or brother or friend. And I had a friend who slid in to a tree and got split in half. So I agree Charlie. Drunk drivers deserve everything they get for a punishment. It's not hard to not drink and drive.

I use to go to a college in the midwest, and some guy was out drunk driving from our dorms. The cops started POUNDING on all of our doors at the dorms, wanting to know where this guy was. Someone asked what happend, and the State police officer said that the dude fled on foot into a corn field, and thought he came back to this dorm hall. What was funny is when one of the kids told him very directly "What, you scared of chasing someone through a corn field?" the trooper was NOT happy and began lecturing the guy. it was great.

After that they come up with a plan to avoid future arrest by going somewhere that hopefully they can stay without getting found. I guess the final part of the plan is to move someplace where the cops aren't gonna be actively looking for you? As we saw here she probably didn't plan well enough or didn't have the luck to get away a second time.

@@UncannyBeagle Yeah I guess that’s an option. But from where the traffic stop started it would of been a standard speeding/dui charge. But in Wisconsin I know how lenient they are about dui’s, especially if you cooperate and give a good excuse. I could only see what you’re saying as a option if they were easily looking at life in prison. Otherwise I’d prefer the slap on the wrist over uprooting my entire life, and still risking the possibility of getting caught. And by then it would be much more than a slap on the wrist lol

I say 50/50 shot she can skate by until she's wrecklessly driving drunk through a checkpoint again.
