you calling someone who suffered a mental break a "monster" just shows that society has a long way to go in understanding mental illness and the effects drugs can have on a person's latent mental genetics. she suffered a psychotic break, she was not in control of her actions and was entirely withdrawn from reality. Having a psychotic reaction to a small amount of marijuana (not knowing it can have that effect on you because it's not very common) is very different than choosing to drive while intoxicated. A lot of people don't know that if you have a dormant mental illness marijuana will trigger it 1000x I only say this because I am one of these people and had a VERY VERY bad trip on marijuana were I became suicidal and threatened to kill my loved ones.

There was even less evidence that it was a drunken psychosis because he even tried to hide the murder weapon but he got off on the same defense. So apparently this psychosis/ insanity plea will work for anyone. Playing male/ female victim card won't work here. The point for this case is that psychosis isn't something you control. It has the potential to happen to anyone. She now knows about it, what triggers it, and can take precautions for it not to happen ever again. Locking her behind bars for something she had no control over won't benefit anyone. She did not consciously kill anyone. It's obvious she was out of her mind when she was stabbing herself and her dog, and she had to have her arm BROKEN for police to make her drop the knife. Nothing to do with being a man. I'm not sure that the sentence was enough, but I wouldn't sentence her to prison either. Here is why: You can fake being crazy or blame drugs when committing a crime, and 99 times out a 100 you'd fail to convince a jury. But what you don't do when you're faking madness is stab yourself 40 times and stop stabbing yourself only because a cop broke your friken arm by hitting it 9 times with a baton. Let's be real: 99% of all people would let go off a knife if a cop hit their arm with a baton once or twice. And more importantly 99.999% of people wouldn't stab themselves 40 times to begin with. Your brain wouldn't let you. Even people who commit suicide want to minimize pain. She was clearly out of it. I believe it. A faker would hurt others but wouldn't have the mental capacity to hurt herself to that extent. She really was out of it in my opinion, you can't fake that, the pain would be too great.

Weed doesn't make people do what she did. Typically, it will make people lazy (but super relaxed) and want to eat some Doritos and make them laugh at even the lamest jokes from failed sitcoms that lasted only a season and make them become a pseudo philosopher wondering about weird mysteries of the universe, but it doesn't make people do what she did. Yeah, there are SUPER RARE cases where it can make someone angry or make them paranoid, but not to the point of becoming Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th and slashing someone over 100 times (she literally slashed her victim over 100 times, I'm not even exaggerating on that number). There is definitely something else going on here. Anyway, I find it insane how the media is being super duper nice to her while they are typically a lot more vicious towards others that haven't done even a small fraction of what she did. Even on social media, the vast majority of people that typically like to cancel others over insignificant little things like edgy jokes that were made during the early 2010's online are being nice to her. This is madness!!

Almost no one in the comments knows the difference between intoxication and drug induced psychosis. A bad trip isn't psychosis, and psychosis doesn't involve the typical symptoms of intoxication. Psychosis involves a severe break from reality (hallucinations, delusions, and disordered thinking) that outlasts the duration of intoxication of the drug, sometimes for months, causing complete functional impairment. It doesn't necessarily mean anything about how the person is outside of psychosis. THC IS well known to cause psychosis in some people, and although those with a family history or prior history of mental disorders are more at risk, it can induce psychosis in those with no prior risk factors as well. Often, because the sufferer no longer has their mental faculties, the episode goes untreated and ends in tragedy, and THC is not recognized as the causal agent. It can be caused by chronic or acute use. The higher the % of THC, the higher the risk of psychosis. While it may be unclear that psychosis was truly the cause of the tragedy in the video, and I'm sure the legal system is open for abuse, everyone claiming marijuana can't cause psychosis or implying being very high is the same as psychosis are totally ignorant.

@@w.r.harvey7751 Is it customary to charge a DUI killer with murder or manslaughter? I found an interesting article about that. It says DUI Manslaughter is the more common charge compared to DUI Murder (after a drunk killed somebody). In case of DUI Murder, the prosecuter does have to prove _intent_ as well as _conscious_ disregard for human life. To follow the DUI analogy to this woman's case, it makes sense to me that proving intent is difficult (just as in DUI circumstance). This woman was convicted of manslaughter, I believe. It actually matches up with the more common charge applied in a DUI case.

@@televishenimoniker5546 Not exactly, DUI related killings are so common place that most jurisdictions have specific DUI vehicular manslaughter statues, so there is less room for interpretation. What is not so common is stabbing related manslaughter. Plenty of stabbing related killings happen under the influence of alcohol, meth, etc and in those cases the perpetrator is typically charged with 2nd Degree Murder; which I believe would have been more appropriate in this case. More people I think are upset with the sentencing, rather than the conviction. Three years probation for this type of domestic abuse violence is a wild miscarriage of justice. Even if I buy her defense, which I don't, and we say it is manslaughter the sentence is atypical and extremely light.

@@w.r.harvey7751 Yeah, I think the sentence was too weak as well. + For Murder 2nd, don't you still have to prove malice _intent_ ? If so, what would you base that off of in her case? There doesn't seem to be any evidence of planning the stabbing out. No mention of preceeding domestic issues (unless I missed that). Also, it wasn't committed in the context of another serious crime. It is hard for me to believe that anyone would plan a stabbing like this with the expectation that a rare reaction to weed would get her off the hook for murder and land her at manslaughter conviction. Most people have no idea that weed can have these side-effects. I suppose she could have been planning murder, then got super enraged over some issue & went to town with the knife. Then panicked & stabbed herself to pretend to be crazy, then intentionally act crazy strong while ignoring the tazings? Seems farcical: )

It is documented as a rare reaction. Different people react differently, you already know that. For example, it is quite common for people to get paranoid on weed, right?

@@televishenimoniker5546 The people that do get paranoid on marijuana is because it has been demonized, seen as "bad" or thought to be "illegal" in my opinion. As we know, alcohol is much more dangerous but not looked down upon as marijuana has. A lot of people who drank probably got paranoid when they were tipsy during alcohol prohibition.

Of course. That's just how it goes. There are two primary classes of humans: those with and without coin, connections, crews, clout, computer code, control, corrupt communities, and shady opportunities. Obviously, if you have "the eight", you're great! If you don't, you're p'wned.

She took a hit or two of weed. That was her sin. She _was_ convicted of something. It is her sentence that is frustratingly lenient, just like you see in darn near _every sentence_ nowadays. So you really want her locked up for years cuz she smoked weed?
