Here are a few additional thoughts and scriptures on this topic that I hope you find helpful: "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit." -Titus 3:5 "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." - Romans 5:8 "The Gospel is this: We are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared believe, yet at the very same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope...Religion says, 'I obey; therefore I’m accepted.' Christianity says, 'I’m accepted; therefore I obey.'" -Timothy Keller (1950-2023) "The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us." - C.S. Lewis (1898-1963)

"What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them 'Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,' but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead." - James 2:14-17 "Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." - James: 25-26 We are all saved through faith, and our works flow with the intent of love. Protestantism gets this wrong everywhere. The one true church, the Catholic Church, understands this.

@@Christendom88 James was saying that you can't have true faith WITHOUT works to show you are truly repentant. Paul said I will show you my faith BY my works, yet also says by works you cannot be saved. We do works, guided by the Holy Spirit, because we are grateful for what Jesus has done for us on the cross. Not for our own gain, and what we can do, but to further the kingdom of God.

@@Christendom88 Your verse are also true. Though John 14:6 says: “6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” This doesn’t mean that we stop doing works it means that we start following Him so that we just naturally do those works out of love not struggle to follow some rules. It is a relationship He is looking for first and foremost. 1 Samuel 15:22 says “22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.” Jesus wants us to obey and follow Him so that He can help us because He knows doing it on our own (sacrifice) we WILL fail. He was the endall sacrifice so all we need to do is follow Him and He will guide us to do what He may. After all, Proverbs 3:5-6 says: “5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” To just do works without having a relationship with Him and having Him guide you is “leaning on your own understanding” of what needs to be done.

This is the difference between true Christianity and every other religion on earth. Christians believe that we are not worthy of forgiveness, and eternal life and that we need a savior, a sacrifice to satisfy the wrath of a just God. Only Christ could pay the wages of sin for us. Every other religion believes you can somehow earn your way into heaven.

Decide for yourself, if Jesus is someone you want to trust and put your faith in. I would say start there. When reading them think... what were His ethical Teachings? What were His moral teachings? Also. Check out the 10 Commandments. The 1st 4 are how we are to treat God. The last 6 are how we are to treat each other. God bless. Ask more questions of ya have them.

@Victorsesan3578 no, of course not. What Paul is saying here is that the only reasonnwhybwe believe is because of the faith we have given to us by our Father in heaven. A free gift. When we heard the Good News of the Gospel, we repented. In other words we felt ashamed of living on our own strength and understanding of life. Now that we have come to the light it is God's Holy Spirit that brings us to glory and glory. Being transformed the renewing of our mind. Good works won't save you. Good works us the evidence of God's seal.on His people. That's what Ephesians 2:8-9. But, remember Paul also explains that we're still in the body. Our flesh has sinful desires, therefore; our spirit is at war with the flesh. Which one are you feeding the most? At the end we are the branches and Jesus is the vine, without Him, we could do nothing. So, the fact that you are saved and doing good works from the Holy Spirit is all because of Him who died for you. Like Paul said to the church of corinthians, if anyone is gonna boast, let them boast in the Lord!

No one comes to the Father except through me.” This message alone should prove to you that you must be Christ like. Of course we are all sinners but being a Christian means you choose to live life without sin. Therefore you must act for salvation. I am so tired of hearing Christian say that all you need to do is believe in Jesus.

For the Word (logos) of the cross is indeed foolishness to those who are perishing, but to those of us who are being saved, it is the power of God. For it has been written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the intelligence of the intelligent I will bring to naught." Where is the wise, the scribe, the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For seeing that in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the preaching to save those who are believing. (1 Corinthians 1:18-21)

There are two things about salvation that go together that must be rejected as well. Salvation of faith alone (another false doctrine) and the Sinner’s Prayer. I’ve already just explained why at this point “faith alone” is not sufficient based on God’s Plan of Salvation. The “Sinner’s Prayer” is neither biblical nor scriptural and none of the passages used to support “sinner’s prayer” salvation work as advertised. The Reformers know that “Faith Only” just does not make any sense either Biblically or practically. Here is the problem: It is just too vague. When exactly is one saved? Don’t say, “at the point of faith alone without any works of obedience.” No one really believes that and that is NOT what the Bible teaches! There has to be some point of practical reference in which (at which) one goes from “being unsaved to being saved.” Where is that point in real time? Exactly when does the “new life in Christ” begin? With “Faith Only” there is just no real perceived point that is easily clarified in the minds of men. It is just too vague and nebulous. (“Faith Only” is a great sounding doctrine, but it is a lousy one when it comes to practice and practical implementation.) So, enter the “Sinner’s Prayer”! Now we have an actual moment, a line of demarcation, a dividing point from the old life to the new life. A time that can be specifically identified (and remembered) when someone “gets saved.” The Sinner’s Prayer is only the result of the doctrines and commandments of men, not God. It is a sorry attempt to fix the defective doctrine of “Faith Only.” What is more, it does not do a very good job of it. Saying the sinner’s prayer is simply a way of declaring to God that you are relying on Jesus Christ as your Savior. There are no "magical" words that result in salvation. It is NOT faith alone, but faith working in harmony with working obedience. You see when Paul talked about faith in Romans, his concept of faith was one that worked. He started the letter with, “Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name, among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ” (Romans 1:5-6). And he ended his letter on the same note. “Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began but now has been made manifest, and by the prophetic scriptures has been made known to all nations, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith” (Romans 16:25-26). The Bible doesn’t teach that salvation is exclusively by faith. That was a doctrine that originated with men. The Bible has always taught that salvation occurs when faith is joined by obedient action to the commands of God.
