First time having Spike Jonze there to direct, but it's not the first time he has let the artist do more than just stand on a mark and do their latest song. Maybe it's the stage musical geek in him, but he seems to love giving them the the whole stage and the freedom to direct their own performance and make it more than just another guest musical appearance.

I love that moment at 2:30 where Beanie and two dancers huddle together. Such a simple way to depict sisterhood. The way they whispered, too, seemed like they were sharing stories and making sure everyone was all right. That sense of collective consciousness was so stunning.

Karen O is badass

Unprecedented. Must have been nerve-wracking with all the planning, choreography, short set-up time, prop placement, black-out auditorium, bright lights in the performers' faces... my goodness. How in thee hell did Spike Jonze use all of the available space? That's a seriously interesting mind. BTW, Karen O can friggin sing all get out. Thank you Sir ColdBeer for hosting this.

Huge fan of Karen O, have been since the 'Master' EP by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Can't believe all these years later she's still the same creative force she has always been. Fantastic stuff!!!

This is spectacular, and I love the glee on Stephen's face, as he participates.

Karen o's voice control is amazing for how active she is on stage! I would be up there gasping for air

Alex M you may be confused by the delivery of my comment. I’ve obviously seen enough live performances to determine what’s legendary and innovative versus that of a gimmick w/ borrowed stage presence. This isn’t a live performance you see on national television everyday. To be precise in your art direction and all while having your live audience cued in on time ? I think it’s you that hasn’t seen enough live performances.

What television should always be like!! So freaking bold stuff here!

Karen O is herself already a peculiar mix, she's probably not the only one out there, her mum is Korean & her dad is Polish (only if i remember well, i've read this a dozen years ago)

I have admired Karen Os stage presence since I was 10 and playing Maps on Rock Band...she makes me believe that artistic visions can come to life!! Such a badass!

You only see her for a couple seconds but the drummer Carla Azar is a fantastic drummer. I saw her perform with Jack White and she is insanely good. 🤘🏻🔥

I thought: nice, he's presenting a cool music video. Until I realized that it was performed live o.O AMAZING!

If this was a play id go and see it. Love Karen, love danger mouse, loved the dancers and the retro Ronettes hairstyles. Bravo

Seeing this on Colbert made go out and buy four different records right off the bat.

This is probably the most commercial song on the album, kinda knew it would be the big single. The rest of the album is better. That said I'm super happy to see her back on the scene.

My wife helped produce the show. They removed the audience member from their seat prior to the music performance. Mr. Colbert danced live.
