As someone who grew up with 2 abusive birth parents, she may have missed out on years of dysfunction and trauma. Though I understand her need to know where she came from, she is very blessed to have loving adoptive parents. Sometimes, what we see as a bad thing can actually be a blessing in disguise. I think it's probably easier for us who were raised in toxic environments by parents who didn't care but us to see it this way. So many times I would have preferred to have adoptive parents who really love me, rather than biological ones who didn't. But I now understand that everything that happened in my life was part of my path. I have learned from everything. And I'm okay. I survived and I have grown so much through the process. I love myself and I know my value, even if others don't.

Hallelujah. What a blessing to hv been adopted by Mr. & Mrs. Smith. She loves them and she knows they love her. Knowing your biological heritage info could mean finding out about issues that are crucial. In particular, suppose she needed a bone marrow or kidney transplant, or a rare blood type transfusion? No. They have safe harbor locations just for this purpose. Those places existed when she was born. The mother left that baby on a cold apartment doorstep in January after midnight. The infant wasn't found until like 3am. If the biological mother loved her baby she wouldn't have hid her pregnancy from her family and abandoned her baby hours later. 18 year olds were having babies in 1992, it wasn't a huge taboo then. I mean an apartment complex? You can walk into any hospital or fire department and surrender a child newborn to two years old. I agree with you that she hit the adoptive parents jackpot however. This young lady deserves so much more than the sad lonely start, her life began on a doorstep.

It was a good meeting, but I never imagined the guilt I would feel.....This woman I had searched for in my dreams, and as an adult spent 8 months trying to find- and when I met her and heard her story. She was 17 when she had me. Her very Catholic parents sent her away to hide her pregnancy. She lived with nuns till she had me. She didn't want to give me up. but she had no support. When she came home, no one talked about me. She had to grieve in silence, it broke my heart....but I felt so guilty- she went through so much....but I felt guilty, because I love my mother who raised me so much, and I don't think i could love my birth mother the same way or even close. It still weighs on me 10 years after finding her....be prepared for anything when you find your birth family~

I am happy she has found a sense of peace about who she is, and her adoptive parents appear to be great people. I hope they each find forgiveness & grace through their continued familial processes, it can't be easy for any of them. Humans can make awful decisions especially early in life; being teenagers who knows what their own lives were missing or like. Thank goodness someone found her in time. Had a mentee who was abandoned in the garbage as a newborn; took years of real work to overcome the trauma from such an abandonment. 🥺 Such stories can emphasize the maternal while the existence of the paternal is equally crucial to healing. Having myself been raised by an orphaned Father who lost both his parents early in life, he was the most significant influence in my own life. Hopefully young people in similar situations find that there are acceptable ways to be responsible even though they themselves are overwhelmed. 🖤

She could've helped her feel special & treasured, but chose to make it a negative. This a very tragic.

This is how I fear it will be with my kid's dad. He left when they were babies, never cared for them, threatened us if I ever went after him for child support.. lived near poverty as a single mom to 2 kids and no financial help. My son always asks about his dad. I told him that he's mean and will probably never agree to have a relationship with him. I know in my heart, he'll just break my kid's hearts all over again. I understand their desire to know their dad, I would too if I were them. Just wish they could forget about his existence so he can't hurt us all over again.
I was adopted. Jamaican like this girls mom. I always knew. I was told it was a great act of love on the part of my birth mother. I never felt empty, only loved by my family. Certainly, I wouldn't have searched for anyone who had abandoned me on a doorstep. But to each his own and each story is personal.
Unfortunately, the birth mom is probably really worried about criminal charges coming her way if she gets discovered, so it’s not surprising to me that she was in denial about leaving her daughter at the doorstep of a strangers apartment! Thank God it was a decent stranger that called the cops and she ended up getting adopted by awesome parents.. especially her mom! I love how supportive she was about her daughter finding her birth parents! It’s a lot of adoptive parents’ worst nightmare to face the whole “finding my real parents” issue.

The last thing she said about being ready for the real emotions- is so true. I'm adopted. Ive always known im adopted. I fantasized about my birth mother through out my childhood. I always knew I would look for her 1 day, and was so nervous, and happy and anxious when the day finally came.

I'm glad she was raised by great adoptive parents. I put no blame or guilt on her biological parents. You never know what people are going through mentally. God bless them all.💕
I’m so glad that she got adopted by such a wonderful family. She grew up to be a beautiful young lady with a lot of determination and I’m sure much more. I’m truly glad that her birth parents left her on that doorstep and that she was found because you so often hear in the news about newborns being thrown out windows and into the garbage and so many other horrible things. I mean a fire station or hospital would have been better but I’m sure they were terrified. I’m so glad she found them and I hope her and her son meet them and develop a beautiful bond with all of them and I hope that she gets all the answers that she’s been searching for all these years.
I'm glad to know that you've found your family. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks to you for sharing your journey! Much love and prayers!❤
Wow I've never heard of two parents making the decision to leave their child on a door step. Glad she found them

That's why you abort pregnancies you don't want. The kid will eventually seek you out. 😶

@@alphaomega1351 That is not the only option, there are some cannot have a child. Adoption can be an option.

@Elicia Ellis Negative 👎! There are some without many things. You learn to live with what you have or don't have. 😶

@Elicia Ellis Not to mention, kids deserve their REAL parents. They are not pets that can simply move on without the desire to link with biological as this case clearly indicated. 😶

The adoptive parents are so beautiful i love them hugs 🤗🤗
She's beautiful and clearly that was the best thing her mother could've done for her
My heart is so happy this young lady had a beautiful family to raise her. Her adoptive mother is a blessing
You are beautiful and what precious adoptive parents.
I can very much see why they left her there- I mean they were young and I’m sure they were scared- but she set out on her own to find them regardless of what they did- shows you someone with a true heart- I’m sure she’ll definitely want to meet her father and the rest of the family- her birth mother though is questionable since she denied abandoning her when she did. God bless this beautiful soul and her family.
