I loved this episode. I think Scott had lost Jean by this point, so his only love is the Job. Note carefully he only calls Iceman by his codename or Drake, while Xavier and Hank call him Bobby. Also Wolverine is a great contrast to Scott in a different way. The "glad we cleared that up" line is just that: a soldier doing this job he has no personal stakes in. Contrast this with Wolverine and Cyclops' reactions earlier with someone like Sabretooth ("C'mon they're gonna kill him" "GOOD") and in both scenarios the characters respond differently, but for personal reasons. This series was the best X-Men we'll ever get.

Beast being so supportive towards Iceman while Cyclops is being so offensive towards Iceman.

The claw pop at 02:39 is one of my favorite memories of this show

1:25-1:27 Xavier wasn't in the mood to hear Cyclops' complaining.

Neutral Good is an individual, who can follow the laws, but he or she doesn’t always have to follow them, and doing benevolent actions. Chaotic Good is an individual, who never follows the laws, but still does good things (like Zorro or Robin Hood for example).

As I revisit this show as an adult, I am 100% on Cyclops' side. I have dealt with my share of people like Ice Man, in school and work. I always hated how they are repeatedly enabled because they are charming and/or ridiculously talented. Seeing him get zapped in this scene is satisfying.

Sometimes I feel if someone doesn’t agree with cyclops, he will just optic blast them, because I think iceman has the decision to stay with the x-men or leave, it’s his decision, but the professor just wanted to help him, I know he wanted to live a normal life as a human, but he just needed to accept that he’s not human, he’s a mutant, and the professor wants him to master his powers and use them to help people, save the world, and live in a world where humans and mutants come together and coexist peacefully, all of the hate needs to stop, not all mutants are evil, and also I would always take wolverine over cyclops any day, because he was one of my favorite x-men, along with Deadpool and Cable, and wolverine has decades of experience as a soldier and a hero, he’s one of the most powerful x-men and characters in the marvel universe, and I think he’d be a way better leader too

In one of the later X-Men series (which features Hank as a high school teacher and coach before his blue fur transformation and many of the X-Men as high-schoolers), there was an episode where Angel came to Charles for help and the two of them asked Jean, Scott, and Hank to accompany them to stop Magneto and his team recovering a small statue of a spider that was the key to keeping Apocalypse sealed away. Bobby (who was a young first year student at the mansion) overheard there conversation and stowed away on the Blackbird. This is the only X-Men episode of any modern series that I know of that showed Xavier and the original five X-Men in battle (other than an episode of Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends which featured a 10-15 second flashback of Bobby becoming the fifth member of the original team).

To be fair, it makes sense. As a ex-X-Man, he is not their enemy; at the same time, they're not *with* him - aligning with him in his wayward goal in destroying government property. The Professor simply wants them to subdue Iceman so he won't create more mess.

The whole idea that there were former members was a retcon made by this episode. For example, the episode shows a recorded video of the old team (original comic team, except Angel) fighting Magneto. But in Magneto's first episode no one had ever seen him before, except Xavier. Angel had already been introduced and established as not having been a member, and the Magneto change was bad enough.

Seeing Iceman in the Xmen portrait for during the first episode of Xmen 97 makes me hope we see him make an appearance.

With his claws and the rules against bloody animation and death back then, he couldn't really. He does get his shots and beats some people down, but in Season 1 and part of Season 2 they tried DESPERATELy to put Cyclops over Wolverine. Didn't work. The MAIN reason is the rules concerning cartoon violence in the 90's, though.

Cyclops was never my favorite x-man, his admirable qualities notwithstanding.

I like how Scott is Furious about Iceman.

"You'd never let the rest of us get away with half of the things he did" - You only need to look at Wolverine to know that what Scott said was a load of crap. Wolverine wasn't exactly the nicest person when he first joined the X-Men and that was towards his teammates. Wolverine also takes a piss all over Scott's leadership in front of everyone, including Xavier. Xavier's kindness and patience extended to everyone, including boy scout Summers over there, yelling at Xavier who could have easily lobotomized Scott with his mind just for that.

Anyone notice Cyclops' lack of Gloves in one frame then are magically back in the next?
