Xmen was always my favourite franchise. Just a shame the movies got absolutely butchered. X1 and X2 were amazing films. X3 (last stand) was the beginning of the end. Wolverine (Origins) added to that. When it was rebooted with First Class it had a chance, and then Days of Future Past made everything feel right again with the Timeline fix. But then then they shot themselves in the foot again with Apocalypse, and I don’t know what they were thinking with the Dark Pheonix movie. When it’s rebooted again within MCU, I hope it gets the justice it deserves.

This might surprise a few people, but Cyclops has beaten Wolverine quite a few times. Hand-to-hand combat as well. Apocalypse's brain-washing of Cyclops proved that if he actually wanted to, Cyclops could obliterate Logan down to his adamantium bones at any point with a wide enough blast. No room for dodging, and too powerful to block it. I've always remembered those facts when watching this scene and it fits perfectly with Cyclops' respond to Logan's threat.

I would agree with you save for the fact that Scott and Ororo were completely wasted, considering they're the leaders of the X-Men after Charles. Scott is a master tactician and combatant, yet he gets bested by Toad of all people. It also skirts around Wolverine and Sabretooth's relationship. The only hint we have is when he takes his dogtags. This is more of a problem with the movie, but we're told that Scott and Jean are together, yet Jean has more scenes with Logan than with Scott. Storm isn't anywhere near the motherly figure she is in the comics, etc. It's far from an excellent adaptation.

In X2, why does she need to jump through the ceiling? If nothing can touch her couldn't she just walk through the soldiers and doors? For that matter couldn't she just chill in her bed? It's not like they had the power to stop her without touching her (the cure, Rogue) like with the mutant itself in X3. Maybe there are some telepathic attacks, a voice attack like that other girl, maybe some smell attacks or visual ones? Which makes me wonder could she change her status so she wouldn't notice bright lights, loud or dangerous noises, or even gas smells? Couldn't she also just walk up to the soldiers grab their gun and only their gun and pull it through them? Danny Phantom worked at lot with that power, he could get rid of water or dust quite easily, also with other people. Can that other girl really just scream to cause pain, etc, or can it be a bit more useful, or at least differentiated, like only noticing mutants or humans, noticing instead of hurting, breaking glass but not hurting anyone else? Cyclops' power needs to be modulated, but she at least can turn it off, unlike him and Rogue. Cyclops' power for me was the biggest warning against Rogue EVER learning to control her power, even though in X2 she could kiss Bobby for at least a second and only had his powers before the second time when she hurt him. A HUGE improvement in my book. But if that wasn't control, just new rules, it would be dangerous in moments where she needs to suck the energy and power the micro second she touches.
