Wow this movie is rougher than I ever thought! The suspense is killing me about how it’s going to end!

It's funny how the people who pass judgement on other people see nothing wrong with their own horrible actions. This movie was filmed in 1979. After having watched many movies on Tubi recently, I would never go to a cabin in the woods, or camping even with people I knew well. Rod Steiger was an amazing actor.

I don't think this is a patriotism advertising movie. It is about a group led by a fanatic father (at least he has the biggest mouth) who had lost his son in Vietnam. This father meets a young man at Wolf Lake who deserted from combat while being in the midst of military action, machine gun fire, killings and screams in Vietnam. Now the father gets crazy, because his son had to die in order to "defend" his country while this young man at the lake still lives. And the story develops as the other members of the group for some coward reason don't step in and stop that crazy father. Absolutely worth seeing and learning the lesson. Rod Steiger in an awesome role, but the other actors too.

I couldn’t watch it till the end, I am from Ukraine and I the world patriotism is questioning a lot this days. 2 years of bloody war in my country, people tired, soldiers tired and I am not sure that the patriotism is really keeps them in trenches. All of them would need a lot help after the war will come to the end.

This film is all about a Nigerian adage that says and i quote:!yanga dey sleep, trouble go wake am up. Charlie was a real sadist that should have gone for serious 'Therapy when he lost his son in war.

Had no idea the man from Sparta could take on this kind of role too. great acting. Thanks for posting.

That was a really good movie I really enjoyed it. It's too bad how it ended. It's like an eye for an eye !

I guess this is what they call noire? It got the point. Patriotism can kill, innocence, and the innocent. Anyway, the bird song was a delight. Made it all worthwhile.

Rod Steiger is an evil MFER in this one! He sure knows how to play the evil role!

I think this just went to a place where I don't want to watch it anymore.

In real life in a most precarious situation like this , you don't wait until the last minute when you know things are going to get worse , you get out secretly and fast ! And especially with a young attractive women there among a bunch of drunk immoral thugs !

Synopsis doesnt jive. No community. No one is married? Just 4 guys supposed to be hunting but drinking instead while one goes on about the war. Almost half way through.

11 minutes: Charlie should not have gone into the kitchen area to talk to her. He should’ve just stayed outside and talk to her if, if, if, he had any morals.

Modern movie makers and watchers take note.....this is called building tension and creating atmosphere. They knew how to do that back then. This is a pretty average film for it's time.... But way more interesting than most of the blockbusters I've seen in the past decade

Perhaps it's just me, but I believe most of Steiger's acting is ham. He also seemed to have believed he was good with foreign accents; I am not sure where he got that idea from.

It’s horrible but typical of its time and genre. Gratuitous female nudity and abuse and searching for a “point” to make about wars and killing and empathy. Handled with a sledgehammer.
