Wolf Brand Chili 1960s Best Beef on the Range commercial. We really hope you enjoy this retro vintage 1960s commercial with Pop Myres the Original Wolf Brand Chili Commercial Spokes Person. Digitized by www.thewesternschannel.com from the original 16mm film reel from the Bob and Johnie Terry film archives. Lee (Pop) Myres was the official spokes person for Wolf Brand and several other brands. Many years ago Pop's Grandson Dale (Sourdough) Myres trusted us with five film reels to transfer to digital. The 16mm copy of this Wolf Brand Chili commercial and the other four we have may be the only copies to still exist. This is one of the very early Wolf Brand Chili commercials from the 1960s. Pop was a good bit larger in this commercial then he was later on. I believe Sourdough told us his grandfather had some heart trouble is why he lost weight. Make sure to watch for all the classic television commercials we are releasing from our film archives every morning in July of 2024. Thanks for watching.

For generations, the Wolf Brand unique blend of seasonings and good, hearty beef delivered authentic chili taste. The original Wolf Brand Chili recipe was developed in 1895 by a Texas ranch cook and Lyman T. Davis. Recognizing that they had something good, the pair brought their specialty by wagon to the oil boomtown of Corsicana, Texas. There they sold it for five cents a bowl in front of the Blue Front Saloon. By the early 1920s, the chili's great-tasting reputation had spread, so Mr. Davis began canning the chili. At the suggestion of a local photographer, Mr. Davis’s pet wolf, Kaiser Bill, was selected to grace the label. Suddenly the chili had a name, Wolf Brand, which became as famous as its flavor. Pop Myers was a man and if he gave his word that was gold. I once saw a skilled soiled dove in the Blue Front blow out a candle while facing the other way at a distance of almost three feet powered by this Chili.

I grew up on Wolf Brand chili (I'm from Texas), but within the last 10 years or so it doesn't seem the same. I'm still on the hunt for its replacement.
