It's seems to be the age of the activist, with their constant protests - they seem to be driving all the conversations around policy, culture, stories, and more. But in their zest to get their messaging across activists are disrupting businesses, travel, and calling large amounts of vandalization. This strategy is clearly hurting the causes they are fighting for and yet they will refuse to stop.
But why?

They will never stop because it's a replacement religion, and each new set of activists tries to outdo the last set in terms of proving their "faith" to their "God." The point at which they will start killing in the name of their replacement deity is not very far away, now, and if all of the circumstantial evidence is in the indication, the (transgender) female who shot up the Tennessee Christian School is one of the first suicide bombers in their belief system.

The cause of those activists are noble but what they are doing to achieve their goals results in terrible consequences. Sometimes the best intentions lead to the worst outcomes. I really wish the best for the paralyzed woman and that those activists will see that they cause real harm to the people with their actions so that they don't ever repeat those mistakes ever again. The activists should really just let ambulances and people in emergencies pass through instead of stopping them. On a side note: In my country those activists that glue themselves on the road even get a salary from their organization which is really disturbing.

The problem with activism is that, once you get what you ask for, you have nothing left to distract you from your actual problems. So, they move on to a new grift. A new "problem" to tackle. It's an endless cycle of banging your fist against society until society either takes pity on them, or their fist starts to bleed. It's an insidious type of religion that can not substitute an actual honest living.

  • @saskia9720

I've heard people argue that this is what's happening to the gay community. Gay rights were achieved, but the energy remained so the focus went onto trans rights, then trans children's rights, and they need to keep finding things to fight for, because the majority of gay people living in the western world are just living normally. So you frame "drag is not child friendly" as "drag queens are being banned, they're stripping gay rights away", and "children shouldn't be allowed to medically transition" gets framed as "trans rights are being taken away". They have to reframe and exaggerate the problems that are going on, because they can no longer direct it towards actual discrimination that gay people face - gay people can get married, are not discriminated in the workplace (they are in fact a protected demographic now), they can adopt, own houses, run for president etc etc. There's nothing big and meaningful left to fight for anymore, but that energy is still there so gets directed towards something else.

As a Nigerian-immigrant in the west, my opinion is that they won't stop because progressivism(cultural marxism) is an ideology and religion. Due to how privileged and safe the west is, many of the left (especially the urban and young ones) are without struggle and purpose. So being radical and disruptive is the only way they fill this void. Even those in the west who actually would benefit from activism end up being harm d by it because of these radicals e.g. Black Americans who largely opposed the BLM riots that led to lootings, killings and destruction of their neighborhoods.

I had brought 3 pages of the traumas I had written down to show him because I wanted him to know who I was. He refused to read them, which totally pissed me off. But when I realized that those pages were not "who I am," it changed everything. I was yelling to the world, "I'm not a victim," while blaming my issues on other people. People who got to live, rent free, in my head. People who controlled my life and didn't care or feel any pain from my hating them. It was ruining my life, and they didn't even know. I stopped giving my time to toxic people and truly learned to forgive. It was so freeing I can't even describe it.

1984. Orwell. Who's the enemy today? People who have jobs, who have no money, who live by the paycheck, who have a family to look after, pets, friends, neighbours, hobbies, they do not have time for protest. The absence of any responsibility is what drives most pf these people. In fact, they refuse to take any personal responsibility. The Old West called it a Clown Posse. They fire a gun and whatever the bullet hits is claimed as the intended target all along.

If friend B notices that Random Person C has said something outside of orthodox friend B will go through all the mutual friends of B and C and call them out to drop being friends with C. You must be 200% adherent to the outrage of the day. You can't even express anything that might even attempt to understand where the new enemy is coming from. I rarely use any more social media because it's too hostile, these people have nothing interesting to say. I also live in Chicago still, and the city is in free-fall (and has been), but you can't criticize the politician these people all back because that makes you a theocracy-supporting bigot. These newer generation of people are just as obnoxious (if not more) than I found the Baby Boomers to be 30 years ago, hysterical, anti-historian cliche-spouters.

Protesting is saying that there’s something wrong with the world and not with me. It’s deflection. I used to be a vegan activist (cringe) and went to a few “demonstrations”. At that time in my life, late teens early twenties, I felt so lost, lonely, insecure, depressed. But instead of focusing my energy on improving myself and my circumstances I would focus my attention on “saving the world”. It was definitely a form of escapism so I wouldn’t have to face what was going on in my life. I remember going to those demonstrations hoping to get some meaning and purpose from them but I never did. In fact, when I was “protesting”, that’s when I felt the most empty and lost. I remember driving home from the protests wondering why I felt so anxious and empty whilst I was there. At 26 I’m so much happier. I got saved, got married, started eating meat again, no longer an environmentalist either. I’m sooooo much happier and healthier. Glad to be done with that stage of my life.

Compare this to a career activist, who has a purpose ONLY when there are problems. Their livelihood depends entirely on the continued existence of those problems. They exist to "combat" problems that can and should be eradicated, but not to actually run the systems that would survive the problem's resolution and ensure things function smoothly. I find it terrifying when people are allowed to block emergency lanes and face no/minor reprocussions for it. If their actions lead to fire/ambulance/police/essential workers not being able to get someone in time they should face criminal charges. Its just unacceptable, there are so many other ways to protest that aren't likely to result in the deaths of innocent people. I suspect if people knew they could potentially end up in jail for a long time on manslaughter charges when someone who would have lived dies when stuck in an ambulace traffic jam or a building burns down with people trapped inside, many would think about more than their own self rightousness for their own self preservation even those that don't really care about others.

What’s funny as my former college history professor (also a accredited historian) once told me “social activism is one of the most overhyped phenomenons in modern history. There is a common myth of its importance and positive impact on the world. In reality it’s been consistently one of the least effective methods of societal change.” As a young naive then activist I was stunned, and resented him for this statement. Later realized he was very much correct via my own experiences with “activism” and further research into historical precedents. More often “social activism” as it is typically practiced by ideological extremist (which is exactly what these people are) is the catalyst for violent revolutions and civil wars that often result in the polar opposite of what the instigating factional movements wanted. As they are often deemed the source origin (mostly because truthfully they are) of the societal destabilization that led to armed conflict in the first place. Thus a lot of the societal resentments and anger of the common masses when the pendulum inevitably swings back in their direction falls on these activists. Good examples: Czarist Loyalists vs Russian Reformists vs Bolsheviks vs Mensheviks (Bolsheviks were the more disciplined and ideologically unified faction that won out over the others. Still quite aggressive but compared to the others considered more stable to the common people.) Jacobins vs Imperial Reformers vs Royalists (Reformist aligned factions linked to Napoleon won out in the end, especially as the Jacobins became morally unpalatable to the general populace.) Loyalists vs Patriots (Patriots won out, also many forget the Loyalists were in the beginning actually way more aggressively opposed to the Patriots and their initially peaceful activities than vice versa. Which led to a gradual radicalization of the Patriots whom became more aggressively hostile to them in exchange. Patriots won out among general populace due to the popular perception of their violence being more contextually justified than the British aligned Loyalist movements.) Abolitionist Northerners vs Pro-Slavery Southerners (Abolitionists ultimately won out, often people forget that it was the pro-slavery advocates whom were the most overtly aggressive throughout most of these interstate struggles leading up the Civil War. With groups like John Brown being the exception on the other side rather than the rule. And largely being organized violent militias led by religious groups that formed out built up resentments against the aggressive tactics long employed by Pro-Slavery “activists” whom were really ore akin to intimidation mobs, criminal gangs, and domestic terrorists, in the frontier territories.) Communist/Socialist and Spartacist Inspired Movements vs the Nazis and fascist aligned movements in Germany (Unfortunately the Nazis and a coalition of other groups won out in the Weimar Republic due to its establishment’s universal unpopularity. And the public backlash at the decade long undisciplined and random violent escalations. That were often perpetrated on common civilians by the various socialist revolutionaries and anti-government movements. Thus leading to the erroneous perception that the comparatively less overly aggressive and disruptive fascist groups were more stable and less prone to extremism. And the unpopular Weimar Republic establishment much to their future detriment chose to ally themselves with these forces as a protective bulwark against the then more radical socialist movements.) And too many more to count. Point being right or wrong usually the side that curry’s less popular favor from the common masses ends up losing.

He has all these wonderful tools, but he hasn't been able to build anything for himself. He needed that reality check from an older, secure masculine man to put him in his place. Without it, he wouldn't set off on the right path. These days people will undermine the message by saying "Ok, Boomer" as a means of avoiding the uncomfortable self development that needs to take place. Age works here, but race, orientation, financial status, gender, etc are all now grounds on which you can dismiss someone's ideas, even if it's exactly what they need to hear.

You have to find a strong balance between passion and intellect to do it successfully, example Martin Luther king jr.

Insightful, unbiased, and honest! Thank you! If only the activists could think and speak in such a rational manner -- but I guess the only they can get attention for their irrational agendas is to scream and make a public spectacle of themselves -- which only turns rational people away.

They were the ones that were literally holding rallies BURNING Harry Potter books in West Texas where I grew up. BEFORE that, it was the Satanic Panic. Right-wing nutters were also the ones Harrison ANYONE who went into any planned parenthood. Right-wingers went after canceled anyone who was against the Iraq war, like the Dixie Chicks. THEN they turned around and worshipped TRUMP, who said MUCH worse about the Iraq war and George W Bush than the Dixiw Chicks did. Then there were all the Anti-masks/anti Vaxxine KARENS during covid. I guess what I am saying is: while I can't stand the obnoxious, often overzealous attitude of the Regressive Left, thisvvideo is laughably one-sided and you are a biased HACK if you have NOTHING to say about all those idiots who decided to riot on January 6th, try to shoot up Pizza Places, OR ARE STILL part of the Q-anon psychotic shit bags that are STILL waiving signs here in Dallas saying that JFK is still alive and is going to run for President again with Trump.

And yet they manage to be productive like everything is fine, like ants. While being morrons some of them will rise and become brilliant engineers, scientists and use their skills to force a valueless world. They are like a pure expression without any insight, just chaos. The fact that someone takes it upon themselves to destroy classic art pieces that belongs to humanity itself, in order to get attention upon whatever it is that you are trying to communicate, will get lost in such an attempt. I'm sorry, i totally missed the point, all i can see is the destroyed painting, after that i don't even want to talk to you because you're a entitled psychopath and should be taken in for psychiatric evaluation and intervention immediately. I think your point about positive discourse between oppositions is really important. Something thats being talked about but not actually realized by a lot of people is that society is becoming more and more seperated into groups like the left and right and all inbetween. Instead of finding solutions we are more focused on defeating the opposition. Which blinds people to the problem of the people in power dismanteling more and more of their lives.

This is why they are activists trying to save the Earth, in doing this they don’t have to deal with the immediate suffering of humans or even have to do something constructive. They are able to be violent, destructive and angry and feel good about it.

I remember how Gina Carano lost her role on The Mandalorian and was basically blacklisted for her views on the handling of the pandemic. While I disagree with those opinions, she didn't actually say anything that was hateful, illegal or worthy of getting canceled. Suddenly, people that are essentially powerless in every day life felt the power of being able to destroy someone's life, and of course, started looking for new victims on Twitter. Even though canceling people wasn't new, this felt like a turning point where people didn't even have to leave their houses to feel powerful in their moral superiority.

The rising tide of authoritarianism in the west shouldn't be taken lightly. We are human beings, the most successful species to exist. Not dogs attacking eachother for a bone, not bees attacking the males for not doing any work or any other species. We have come so far to be destroying ourselves from within and i sincerely hope the people who think its okay to attack, scream at or belittle others with different opinions can get a wake up call one day, just like i have. Instead of being woke, try being awake.

Some of the most totalitarian and outright EVIL regimes in history were all created by people just like the woke activists in modern times. The Brown Shirts all fought believing they would help bring back Germany to its former glory and the Reds in China and Russia fought because they believed they could create a more equal world for the workers to live and grow in. All three of these countries turned into the most evil and heartless of empires whose effects we still feel today as China is still sadly around and Putin still clings to the Soviet Union of old while a new American Soviet State seeks to create itself and repeat the same mistakes the Reds of the past made. It's a viscous cycle that will keep repeating itself as long as people with jealousy and hatred in their hearts remain.
