I knew Leslie as a kid. She and her family moved in around the corner from me in Maryland, in the mid 80's. We were friends growing up until she accused me of saying things that I didn't say. Her parents called mine, i got grounded for 6 months, and she went on to tell all the kids at school and her parents told all the other parents in town and that was a wrap for me. My childhood changed forever because of one lie. I'm not even remotely surprised that she managed to ruin Star Wars, and I'm also not surprised that she would work for someone like Harvey Weinstein.

If Episodes 1 & 2 are to the Prequel trilogy what bad CW tv shows are to Shakespeare script-writing/directing-wise, then episode 3 is the equivalent of a middle school play compared to even the wooden dialogue of Attack of the Clones. I mean, for all the flack Jar Jar's actor got (and boy did he get a lot of flack), Jar Jar Binks existed t o fill the comedy relief gap for The Phantom Menace that was normally occupied by 3PO and R2. He had a reason to exist in the setting narrative-wise. The cast of the Acolyte... I'll be honest the only character who feels like he belongs and isn't human-shaped cardboard cut regurgitating dialogue to move the scene along is probably Sol/Lee Jung-Jae's character. A good part of the issue here is this arthouse -Rashomon- non-linear storytelling the show has going on. While that might work for some settings, in Star Wars it doesn't really work well at all. Hell, even in the old EU this sort of 'multiple perspectives covering the same situation' storytelling style only really worked *in the novels,* and that was just for novels with certain themes (think heist, spy thriller, etc) written by veteran authors who knew how to write compelling characters/stories such as Timothy Zahn.

Leslie herself said repeatedly that she made this show for herself. Why is she surprised that nobody else liked it?

Time to sack responsible producers! Stop the woke and start making good true star wars action movies without agendas!

Yeah - Disney got all of its apples in that basket. All of them. If it was subtle instead of bludgeon-like, Star Wars could have been a wonderful vehicle for diversity, by its very nature. But somehow what they did doesn't translate as love for the diverse, but rather disdain of either het'ero, 'white' or masculine values. I'm not recognizing myself in it anymore. A lot of people say it’s women, but I think women could do an amazing job with this, but just the right women and not just this who are looking to ‘correct’ starwars. I’m also okay with female leads or protagonists, but the problem is that Disney is giving scriptwriting to directors. Disney and the world has been blessed by a few standout writer/directors , but expecting that from most directors will create problems. They should have simply contracted the best scriptwriters they could find, approved that . Then the best storyboard / concept artists. Then approved that, then hired directors to match these.

How bad is a show when jar jar is much better and more interesting character to watch than the crap you’re showing now ??

It's like a rich dad buying his son a production company and when everyone inevitably hates it, they just blame it on people being too poor to understand lol. No, we just hate it.

I just don't understand with Disney being a multi billion dollar for profit company, how could no one there have NOT done the math: When you make content geared towards a specific niche audience that does not represent your traditional audience demographic, you are not going to get the ratings you want. Being inclusive is fine, but when your entire content is focused on a tiny minority of the population that's a very small cash pool to pull from. Of course it's going to lose money. It's one thing to completely wreck a beloved series that's been popular for multiple generations, it's another to not be able to tell in advance that certain decisions are guaranteed ways to lose income.

Mike, I just don't understand Disney at all. They got major props for "Rogue One," "Andor," the Kenobi/Vader scene, and the first two seasons of "The Mandalorian," but instead of seeing the pattern, they decide to double down on woke garbage and in the process lose millions, or maybe a billion dollars. It's insanity.

Disney needs to be out of business or fire the people running Disney or hire people who actually care.

It really is quite impressive, especially since years ago marvel was breaking records with Avengers. Everyone loved endgame and the climax and now Kathleen Kennedy and woke activists have legitimately f*cked both marvel and star wars franchises completely

Who in their right mind would allow this poor business performance to continue. I hope the board puts its foot down. The Disney company is about making profits not broadening social perspectives.

The board won't do that. They voted against someone who wanted to make Disney produce content people want again. That vote basically confirmed that the board and major shareholders won't hold Bob Iger accountable. Notice how there are no plans for a new CEO despite Bob saying he's temporary. She was Harvey Weinsteins Assistant for literally years, there is no real world way she didnt know what that slime was doing all that time - and yet she got away scot free and no one seems to have a problem with her having to have known he was a perv and did not call it out. At the very least if she escaped actual charges she should have been blackballed and shunned for being an Enabler , but instead DISNEY hired her and put her in charge of a 180 million project. that makes ZERO sense., in ANY reality.

If a director attacks fans or critics, you know they should never be in that position and they don’t know how to improve on their work..

I took my family to a special screening of ANH last month. When it's gloriously shining on the big screen, It's unbelievable how far off the path everything has gone. There should be a mandatory in-theater, audience attended viewing of the original for any writer and show runner before they even start putting their pencils to paper.

It's time to act effectively, cancel Disney subscriptions, don't buy Disney products anymore, let all this pile of rubbish involving Star Wars pile up in stores and warehouses. This is the only way that produces results

As a female fan, I gave up after “The Farce Awokens” with a female lead who struggled to do absolutely nothing. My husband and son hung in longer, but they are done.

I remember talking so much trash about the force awakens and how it was terrible and cringe inducing with terrible writing and a confusing/recycled plot line and I got mega shited on by people on forums and KZread comments for being wrong. I don’t understand what took people so long to change their mind. Unless the only people replying were the morons supporting that BS lol.

The most surreal thing is they actually thought this show was going to generate any money.

It baffles and disturbs me that a corporation is completely fine with wasting millions of dollars instead of making head over heels profits.

What’s wierd is that all these companies just double down on destroying franchises instead of just… making a new one. Maybe if this show was its own thing and not an entity of Star Wars it would have been received better. I canceled HULU because it includes Disney + for free. That’s how much I don’t want anything made by Indoctrination, I mean Disney, in my home or around my kids.

Didn’t Disney actually report a net loss for the first time ever a year or 2 ago? Do you realize how hard it is to lose money when your company legitimately owns half of all things the average person sees every day? It is literally next to impossible.
