Shadaan Dehlavi reciting two qatas and a beautiful salam at Akhtar Wasi Ali's yearly majlis in 1986. Shadaan sahib was born in Delhi in 1931 and is renowned for his contemporary marsiyas, and particularly his observations about the culture and phenomenon of azadari. He penned his first marsiya in 1968 and published at least 14 books of his poetry. Shadaan sahib passed away in February 2019, and is buried in Karachi. His grandson is the renowned poet, playwright, satirist, and professor, Salman Haider.
