Same here, almost two hours and probably more than 30 attempts. Sometimes I was so close to winning it was sickening, on one of my last tries I got him down to an inch of his life and I got killed by his horse.

No villain or boss in a game has invoked more fear than Lu Bu at Hu Lao Gate. Second stage on pretty much every Dynasty Warriors game and the dude was OP AF!!! Ahhh the memories. DW5 was the best!!! So awesome to see Romance of the Three Kingdoms in a souls like game. This is crazy.

Lu Bu was by all accounts a real life (at least the Romance of the Three Kingdoms version) Souls boss, so it all goes full circle.

If you fail to parry his lunge attack in both rider or himself mode, the punish for it is devastating.

If they ever do a balance patch, the should reduce his health a bit and also make his lunge attack not insta-kill, it should at the very most take off 80% of your total health. This fight goes on for an eternity with his current health pool!

@@FilSapia what level is your health at ? Make sure to also upgrade armour as high as possible I have about 20% health left after I missed one of the red attacks, make sure also to use your companions to distract the boss and give you a slight more time to heal

Just beat him thanks to this vid. The stone pillars are insanely useful. Especially when countering him on his charging horse, just counter and spam that move for tons of damage. Illusionary Shell also helps to mitigate damage.

The scaling from lu bu to the last main boss it insane

Bro this boss is just a tank who doesn’t stagger with delayed attacks god it’s so annoying took me forever holy crap

This was an awesome battle. Took me at least 30 tries. First boss in the game that I didn't get angry with the challenge. It's a fair fight. Just takes time to memorize the parry timing. I finally won on my last attempt for the night. The feeling of accomplishment was great. Reminded me of playing Ninja Gaiden years ago.

I did get angry at one point, mainly because it became arrow spam and he just wouldn't do his red attack to the point that he just got back on his horse.

I got angry at this fight, but it was moreso at my own incompetence during this fight. I absolutely love it, I'm just bad at it.

Man it was so hard for me to be patient and wait for him to attack..I’m a very aggressive player and had to change up my play style for this fight as he was whopping my ass..

Finally got him at 3 in the morning

OMG finally after good sleep I got him KO at lv 80 full earth based stat. also everything is at plus 5 with flame resistent. Oh my 2 buddy AI cao cao and Liu Bei alive! Pick them because higher HP and spirit damage and earth spike helps! I know someone can do it at lv 1. I have gears with A agility now and med armors though thats why I need Earth full! Now I can repeat him soon at 90!

dang if only dynasty warriors bosses are like this

So Lu bu is aggressive and offensive type so the defensive way is best to counter him did I got that right?

Just learn how to deflect his crits. The only one that’s fairly difficult is the on ground dash. There is a lot of chances for 1 or 2 hits in between his combos but it’ll definitely be harder

Two tries for me lol. Almost died tho, got lucky

Took me about an hour to kill him without reinforcements. Very frustrating but very rewarding boss fight. No margin for error for 4-6 minutes straight.

Me too,at first I needed reinforcements but in the end becoz of constant death i was like f** it ,let me solo him. Malenia style 😂 xD

How do you do that much damage? I'd estimate if I did t make any mistakes it would take me a half hour to wittle his health bar down all the way. And I'm over leveled for this area.

​@@bargaintuesday812 what's your morale rank at? I first attempted him at 9 and came back today and grinded up to 16 (make sure to go plant your flags too) and he was a lot more manageable. Also have you been upgrading your weapons?

@@MongoTheMagnificent666 Nah, I stopped caring about morale rank once I found out it drops every time you die. I'm not grinding it out each attempt. I just completely ignore it now. My weapon is fully upgraded as far as it can at this point. I have a few more flags to find so I'll probably go back and try to find them.

Biggest thing is not letting him get off his big attacks..otherwise he'll roast you to a crisp

His lunge into the swipe attack gets me every damn time the rest of his attacks don’t seem to hard for me..When he starts shooting arrows twice in a row can be tricky because you have to deflect twice without pressing too fast or you’ll dodge right into the second set of arrows..

This giving me sekiro and gyobu fight vibe

In my honest opinion this guy hits way too hard. There’s no reason I should have to literally not make a single mistake the entire fight. Makes it just not fun. I got his move sets down it’s just since I’m human I’m not perfect therefore I can make a tiny error and it costs the entire run. Extremely frustrating

It wasn’t that the fight is hard, because it wasn’t at all, it’s just that it lasts forever and when you make a mistake you really pay. He’s been beaten but I still stand with what I say.

I did do it with 2 less morale than what the game maxes but I didn’t think it’d make that much of a difference

dont care what anyone says for such an aggro style game this boss fight is such a bad design choice like??? ok cool you made it here , now you will fight an enemy where you only can get damage on him if you parry all his attacks... Genius!
