Ironically, if half of the feminine activists went to games and watched WNBA games regularly, the league would be turning a profit and players would probably be making 2-3 times as much. They still wouldnt make as much as NBA players- but it would be a big raise. You have people like Malika Andrews constantly pushing for WNBA players to make more, but she spends most of her time covering THE NBA because she wants to get paid.

I agree that she was wrong & profits should be roughly proportionate to revenue generated=popularity. And it is silly to assume sexism due to saying "female"-many woman use it, & it is a neutral term that if still feels depersonalized to you, politely ask for a different term-do not assume bias. However, your own comment is sexist. Substitute "black" or another group for woman. Or put in any other negative stereotype, lazy, violent, stupid... Saying not ALL woman are like that is laughable as a protection against being seen as hateful &/or prejudiced. You know how many say whites will describe people of color as something vicious-in traits &/or using the N-Word...but have many "exceptions" for celebrities like sports stars?!? Unless you can show woman being statistically LESS likely to be accountable... If anything the opposite will be true if you look at something basic like raising families... You cannot use one person to slag off or assume the WORST about either a whole group... OR generalize that they are less responsible!

@@interviewwithdevin2902 Not only that, but the players have literally kept the WNBA alive through subsidizing. The pay, travel and hotels they complain about getting now wouldn't even be available to them if it weren't for the men helping. That doesn't mean people hate women playing basketball, it doesn't even mean there can't be a league for it. But the players sense of what they're worth in terms of business is flat out delusional and manipulative.

MPJ and all nba players have a right to speak on WNBA. The NBA financially support the WNBA which actually takes losses financially. The WBNA players want a higher shared revenue. NBA players are higher but women's is at 20%. The problem is WNBA is not a profitable business so to increase their shared revenue %. They will need to take more from the NBA.

These women need to learn business before they keep complaining about wages. Don’t nobody care about their feelings, everything people are telling them are hard facts. They also need to realize that majority of sports watchers are males, so that being said, males are going to prefer to watch other men play sports. Why don’t they get at women for not supporting their league?

I just appreciate Michael Porter Jr for being honest because I know he’s not the only NBA player that believes that like the thing about the WNBA players that they don’t get it, the main reason why they not get paid like NBA players is because nobody is watching their games nobody is going to the games, so how would these WNBA players want to get paid like like LeBron and Steph if you don’t got the fans support your league and he’s right they need to lower the rims 🤷🏾‍♂️💯

Let me get this out the way. WNBA players deserve respect, they worked their ass off to get to the positions that they are in and they are very talented… With that being said. If you compared to the product of the WNBA vs what the product of the NBA. It’s a big difference as to how much more entertaining the NBA is. It isn’t an issue about men vs women but that NBa players are more athletic, more skilled, you see freaks of nature like Giannis or Wendy at 7 feet tall moving as fast as a 6’1 point guard. People throwing crazy dunks and alley oops. It’s a more entertaining product. The WNBA doesn’t have not even close to the level of entertainment because they don’t have the same kind of players as they see in the NBA. If they did they would be making just as much money as the men do. Simply put, the NBA is just a better product to watch. Just as there are spaces in the entertainment industry where women dominate men but men usually don’t say shit and take things as is

This is the most respectful, logical, and humane comment I've ever seen in regard to this topic. I've been watching NBA since a little girl. I just became interested in WNBA (considering it's still a pretty new league, not even 50 years old I don't think). NBA players are literal freaks of nature with how big they are, all muscles aside (i.e Wemby & Giannis in his rookie season). It all boils down to differences in genetics at the end of the day. However, there's always a way to approach these kinds of topics without being condescending about it, and I wholeheartedly applaud you for yours.
