Classic Monty Python trick. If it's just a regular woman character (co-worker, mother, etc), bloke in drag. If it's a sexy character (as seen in this sketch), hire a real woman. Think about it, while it'd undoubtedly be hilarious, how less sexy & more uncomfortable would this sketch be if Timmy or Darren were the woman? Or if the Python's marriage counsellor sketch had Terry Jones or John Cleese as the woman? It would just be less funny. The guys use this technique throughout the series, & in my opinion, it was the right call.
