Well, I'm glad that green and black don't have a ton of artifact and creature destruction or that card would be broken.

Flubs' art is a reference to the classical depiction of the fool arcana

Camella and Ygra combo together really wrll. Ygra says all other creatures are food, and when a food goes to the graveyard from play it gets 2 1/1 counters. Then Camella says whenever you sacrifice a food you create squirrels. Include a KCI, Ashnod's Altar (because they're still creatures), or a savvy hunter and you can sac squirrels to make squirrels and have a variety of other bonus effects.

Flubs artwork is great flavor. it's literally a frog version of "The Fool" from the Rider Tarot.

Maha will be an interesting commander, but there are a lot of ways to avoid the 1 damage or -1/-1 instant kills you describe. Anthem effects and +1/+1 counter strategy dodge a ton of what you described. That is not to say he won’t be dangerous, but I do think some fairly common commander play will render him a bit less scary than you make him out to be. I expect he won’t be consistently wiping boards, but more frequently disincentivizing attacking with big creatures. Not to mention he will probably be a prime target for removal especially for anyone with a lot of card draw to offset the ward cost.

I feel that it would have been better if your creatures also had toughness 1. It would have been lore relevant because it would cover everything even your own in darkness And can also do fun things in black sacrificing your own tiny creatures

Ygra + Fade to History. First everybody gets a bear (that's also food) then you destroy all artifacts. So you destroy all creatures besides Ygra... after that you can propably one shot an opponent.

Since it's green it's easy to have a ton of artifacts boardwhipes, also you can put a lot of regenerate spells with it so you can keep your board, that's cool as hell

I really want more Mouse Support. Still Not enough for a Mouse Tribal Commander Deck 😅

Maha is a auto include in any deck with minus 1/1 counters like the one from murders at Karlov

I don't think Valiant is wealer than heroic, just different. Yes, it is limited to once a turn, but it triggers on ability, which heroic did not. The play pattern is also different. Heroic wanted to you to get one creature with heroic on the table and trigger it repeatedly, while valiant wants you to get multiple valiant triggers on the field and hit them all at once each turn. Mitch's unwillingness to understand *why* things are limited to once a turn is really limiting his analysis at times.

It's kinda that the "once a turn" part really limits it's potential. The best way to compare it is to Heroic vs Valiant. Think of a card like Fabled Hero, and hitting it with something like Astral Steel. That turns Fabled Hero into a neat little combo piece BECAUSE of it's lack of limitations. Heroic was already a limiting thing as it needed to be TARGETED, meaning spells and abilities that say "Creatures you control..." don't trigger Valiant or Heroic. The addition of the words "or ability" really don't make the card much better than heroic and in the end, Valiant is just a neutered version of Heroic, with an upside that won't really matter all that much except for a few niche scenarios. An already meh ability becomes even more mundane. With your point on play pattern, that's the key thing. You WEREN'T limited to get one big creature with Heroic. You could, and often times would, but you didn't have too. The mechanic was left open-ended allowing you to either split up your heroic triggers or stacking them all on one big boy. Alania on the other hand is not really limited by her "First time" trigger because she is already quite powerful already, and if she didn't have that trigger she'd probably be a busted card. That's not the same thing as Valiant though, because you'd be comparing limiting a powerful ability from game-breaking to really good, versus limiting an already meh ability (While heroic was decent during Theros block, it wasn't super powerful by any means and didn't require any sort of limitations) to a pretty underwhelming ability.

Yup, if it wasn't once per turn it's a 2 card instant win combo. Better than the stupid bird. Imagine getting a lightning greaves and "all move get +1/+0 eot. You just do it till you have more power than the table and swing. It's all of 2 mana. If you get lucky and drop sol ring and greaves turn 1 it's over.

Wait. Flubs the Fool is ACTUALLY inspired on the Fool of the Tarot??

finality counters only exile if the creature in question dies, which means flicker gets around it

This set looks awesome especially the artwork and commanders

surprised you didn't mention Pestilence for Maha, basically lock down your opponents just by playing a single black mana, its pretty cheap too price wise.

If i have a tribal tribal deck and something that makes an etb trigger twice do i get two creature types for three tree city?

No. Three Tree City says to choose one "as it enters the battlefield"; This is not a triggered ability.

Maha is as close as we are going to get to ‘Deathtouch, Trample’ on a card.

The fact we have a GOOD Bird Tribal commander now is what makes me happy. I'm so glad some lesser loved tribes have been getting good commanders in recent years, such as Werewolves with Tovolar.

Wizards needs to chill out with all of the new keywords that are already existing mechanics. This is the second time Delve has almost been duplicated this year. Collect evidence is Delve that cares about cmc and Forage is just delve with the added option to sac a food instead... "say delve, or sacrifice a food" it's a few more words but come on

delve is a diferent way to pay the cost. foraging is a additional cost. so foraging is more like a variant of escape, since you can not only exile from grave as additional cost, but you can also sacrifice a food as additional cost instead of exiling from grave

Alania lets you copy the first instant and the first sorcery spell. So you can get multiple triggers off of her a turn. Imagine if lutri were legal in EDH, getting to copy lutri who would get to copy your instant or sorcery that you also just copied.

Yeh this is what I thought, is this right?! You can copy the first one of each of those card types, per turn?! Obviously sorceries and creatures (otters) can’t be played on opponent turns typically, but there are ways around this if you want to chase it…

Ygra is also going to be good with the new Forage ability and Osteomancer Adept's ability to bring things back later for another round of triggers. Plus, artifact hate can hit anything with it out.

Mabel is clearly a “Secret of Nimh” reference and I love it 🐭

3rd lvl of artists talent +the izzit tyrannid human feom 40k (basically same effect) = any one damage is now 5

Some easy budget cards for that mono-black have no friends deck : pestilence and plague spitter. Too easy to keep opponents off creatures it's miserable.

I already have a list for Ygra and am waiting for it to be added to sims to try the deck.

This set is amazing! I love the Squirrels and Otters in this set!

@@OfficerYeet “Rule 106.1a There are five colors of mana: white, blue, black, red, and green”. Colorless is not listed here. I guess you can still use it to cast the generic parts of a card but you’ll still need to have colorless sources

Three Tree City is going to be NUTS in Kindred Decks that go wide like Slivers, Vampires, Elves, etc.

My Kuro, Pitlord deck has a new friend in Maha, Its Feathers Night. :)

Interesting that they changed Precombat and Postcombat main phases to First and Second. It makes just as much sense, to be honest, and lowers the character count while still getting the point across. And to be fair, players typically referred to them as first and second main anyway rather than pre and post combat.

I think Three Tree City is more like a less broken but also improved Gaea's Cradle than it is a Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx.

With the Ral emblem, storm stacks, (702.40b) so any cards that already have storm now have “storm, storm” so make two copies for each spell cast before it this turn

Ok question for those who are more into rules: Alania So it says when you cast a spell if it was the first instant, first sorcery OR first Otter. Does this mean if I cast a sorcery then cast an instant BOTH can be doubled in 1 turn? If so, what if I use something that lets me cast a spell at any time, does this mean I can also double instant and sorcery on another players turn? If so YEAH that's strong

Cooking, this set is peak Oh yeah and Zinnia is absolutely insane

Maha plus Tims or 1 damage artifacts, find a card that lets you draw a card whenever you do damage.

To include "dread of night" in the mono black commander deck, also include painters servant so everything becomes white. 👍👍👍

That second card he shows the putting counters on a non flyer create a loop with like cloudstone curio and if your playing blue white red a dock side to create infinite treasures and etbs for the plumecreed mentor or use deadeye peregrine drake create infinite mana and just flicker it infinitly and you have infinite counters. There are easier ways to do the same thing but hey it's just a thought I had after seeing the card

Three tree city is def goin in my Cayth Mad mechanist deck. Can get 10+ servos pretty regularly!

So, step one: run Bowmaster. Step two: play every and all hand rip. Step three: drop the owl, f*** EVERYONE because your opponent never plays another creature and you've eliminated their hand- so game. . . . Between this and (prowess) Narset's new right hand the balance of this set is borked from the gate. . .

The best part of glarb is that he's in sultai and he's pulling the Tasigur the golden fang pose. That's just the Sultai pose I guess.

Think you read flubs, the fool wrong. You only draw one card and only if it was the last card in your hand. If it wasn't the last card in your hand, discard a card as well. There is no additional draw. Just additional land drop.

Ygra seems cool with mangle horn and bane of progress too.

I'm excited to run an Ygra deck with all sorts of golgari artifact hate such as bane of progress, kill switch, roaring slagwurm, fade from history, etc. Not including all the artifact synergies I'm going to run, this should be a fun deck to run people over with a large cat!

@sapphiredraggytheflygon8521 my bad. Saw the mana generated by AR being colorless and assumed it was a colorless terrain... Yeah, remove Academy ruins from this list, but I still stand by the golgari artifact deck idea

you know, after Nadu I'm kinda ok with the "once each turn" on valiant also it's spells or abilities, not just spells, which makes it more of a sidegrade to heroic
