I purchased a clamp on Witt Muzzle Brake for my 30-06 because I'm 66 years old with level 4 osteoarthritis in my shoulders, ... and I love to hunt big game. My muzzle break is everything as advertised. When shooting using 180 grain bullets, I was surprised at the amount of recoil reduction. I never felt the recoil in my shoulder. It felt more like a love tap than a mule kick. However, the shot sound is loud, so wear a full set of ear muffs. Its the deafening roar of the gun going off that you have to get use to. I have had no trouble with my muzzle break, and I would recommend it to everyone. Just make triple sure your barrel measurements are exact because they machine it exactly to your measurements without any play.

Get a .308 with 180gr bullets wont beat you to death like an 06 and will kill any big game animal in north America

The Witt Machine Brakes are very nice. I have one on my DPMS .920" bull barrel .308 and just love it. With 175 grain match ammo it shoots 3/8" groups at 100 yards and 5/8" groups at 200 yards. Also, I can make rapid fire hits on the 200 yard gong because the recoil is so light that the scope cross hairs never leave the target. Besides the unbelievable performance, I think they are a work of art...

Have had one on my Tikka T3X 30-06 for about 5 years and simply love it. My groups were sub-MOA before, but with this installed, my groups tightened up to 0.750" @100. My reloads shoot 1.25" @200 yards regularly. Another benefit is that the majority of the sound gets deflected out to the sides, so your game doesn't know which direction the shot came from. The sound is pretty mild BEHIND the gun, but make sure the guys/gals on the benches on either side of you have hearing protection.

I'm so glad I came across this video! Yes I can have my unthreaded barrels threaded but this is so much more convenient! I love muzzle breakes and have them on all my threaded guns but this quickly solves the problem for the ones that aren't without having to go to a gunsmith. Thanks!

I grabbed one of these for my .308. It’s an amazing difference. I didn’t mind the recoil but the muzzle rise was pretty bad. It fit perfectly and install was straight forward and pretty easy. The directions were clear and easy to follow. The recoil is super light and the rise is almost none.

Thank you for the awesome review. I bought and installed the same thing on my S&W Sport II 223/556 which did not have a threaded barrel. I have an AIMS full length rail and this Wtt Machine COMB completes the build nicely with the full length rail hiding the fastener screws. Speaking of the fasters, there are 4 of them, so this thing isn't moving. As far as installing, I used a bit of lubricant to seat it down, as the machining was absolutely precise. It's a tight fit for sure. Some recommend blue loctite, but I've not found that necessary.

I had purchased a 308 Remington build from a friend with a huge clamp on brake (don't know the manufacturer) and there was hardly a recoil and was able to sight the rifle in easy. Good show and Yes the clamp on brake works!

Great review thank you , I have one exactly like this one on my Browning Target .308 . Even tho the rifle has a 28" Bull barrel , I still got muzzle jump and it was annoying . After installing this 3 years ago I can say that my shooting and grouping improved by 100% . I can say I put 3 rounds in 1 hole @ 100 yards and just a touch bigger @ 200 yards . My point of impact didn't change which was a good thing that I didn't need to re-adjust the scope .... Thank you Witt Machine . So it looks a little bulky and ugly as some friends put it , as long as I'm Happy who cares what others say ......

That's a nice looking muzzle brake and I'll have to try it on my .308 Savage Axis. Those Super Performance rounds can kick so I definitely want to see how this lowers that recoil. You and your husband did another excellent job with the video.

Got my Witt Muzzle Brake for my Savage 3006 and WOW ! ! ! ! VERY IMPRESSIVE how well this unit works ! ! ! ! Darn Good Product.. Can't say enough about this puppy accept that if you're looking for a Bolt-On muzzle break, you won't go wrong with this product ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Just give them your muzzle diameter at the muzzle and 1 1/2 in. back from the muzzle, send them yer money and You'll have your brake in about a week ........Follow the directions on how to put it on and you're good to go. It's easy as pie.......... Oh, and much thanks out to "Review This Thing" for posting this.... You are why I took a hard look at this product.

A guy at the range bought one for his 300 Win Mag he let me try it the kick was less than a 308 Winchester

@@ReviewThisThing it is legit. I do not know the overall durability? Time will tell but, the product is premium. Also, your required to give the a o.d. of your barrel and they make sure you get a proper i.d. size of the attachment. I'm shooting it on my channel. I'm not 100% sure how to link it too you. OBTW it's attached to a Beretta CX4 Storm. It's a fairly new video.

I put one of these on a Remington 700 in 270 WSM. It has very little felt recoil an you can now maintain sight picture throughout the shot. I put another one on a Voere .458 Win Mag and it drastically reduces recoil. This goes without saying- don't ever fire such a large rifle without earpro especially with a brake installed. You will regret it.

Just got a 460 and the 500 grain projectiles are a serious force to control. I’ve shot plenty big game/dangerous game calibers but I’m over 50 so I am definitely in the market for this caliber Great review and definitely the most informative one I’ve seen in a while

Eight of my rifles have Witt machine brakes and my present build will have one before it’s ready for the range, so I have nothing but praise for this product. From 22-250 to450 bushmaster recoil, phenomenal!! !,

Thank you for doing the review of this brake. I have a BAR Mk3 in 7mm Rem Mag, and since there is no easy way to remove the barrel for threading, no gunsmith will touch it. This may be the only way to attach a brake to it. Is there any trick to ensuring a perfectly level installation?

They provide some pretty thorough instructions. Just make sure you send them the specs perfectly so it fits right.

Put mine on my 270 and it legitimately shoots lighter than my 10.5” 5.56 AR. Going to get more of their products for the AR platforms. These things are amazing

@@ReviewThisThing just an old Remington 770. I now actually shoot the thing (hated the recoil before) and really tuning in longer range shooting (for me). We can only get about 300 yards at my place but it made that process much easier and more fun! I have videos but don’t think I have the ability to post that in the comment section lol

Oh and side note: last year was my first year hunting with it. Prepare to not be able to hear for a bit 😬 the recoil dampening was great but without plugs, in the woods… whew it’s loud!

Hmmm…what suppressor do you have? If your Sako is threaded, you should be able to just screw a suppressor on.

It does not seem to effect it negatively. It does change the point if impact, but, if anything, it makes me more accurate because I’m not anticipating recoil.

Haha. Hard to say because it will depend on the rifle and the load you’re using. The only way to know is to test it.

Muzzle breaks are great so long as you are nowhere near me when you are using it :-)

Great review, but it is ugly. It costs a lot to have a barrel threaded these days, but I bit the bullet and am going that route. You can use a suppressor at a later date giving more options doing that. It is a great product as a cost savings for those on a real limited budget and there are those that think this item is pretty. We all have our opinions. I have a lot of guns with brakes and some without. I do like muzzle brakes and wish all my rifles had them. Maybe they all will before it's over. Muzzle brakes work and with lower calibers you can see the bullet hit through the scope that you couldn't otherwise. Nice video.
