I was 58 when I discovered them. Now 67 and still they amaze me. I am going to their concert (together with Evanescence) in Berlin in December. So you see, good music is for all ages......

Almost the same.. I was 21 when I first heard them (on the Kerrang top 40 I think it was) and now I'm also 31 and still appreciating their music. Best musical decade of my life I'd say, everything before was so shallow. WT are poets and bona fide geniuses. 🙌

I'm 70, grew up in the Golden Age of Rock 'n Roll and the naysayers are wrong to proclaim that today's music will never rival the classics. I love this band (my favorite); they show that today's music is still fantastic. Sharon is a deeply compassionate lyricist and this song points out the confusion and hypocrisy of organized religion. I especially like the way WT controls time and space - they are absolute masters of tempo... It's hard not to get completely caught up in their music and miss the message: "Don't pray for me" = 'your prayers are powerless' because of what the church has lost, because of what they've become...

It calls to mind the “thoughts and prayers” that are sent to the families of children who have died from school s--gs, especially those offered by political figures who can actually do something about it (be it g.c. or mental health or otherwise, there is a lot we can do). Thoughts and prayers are meaningless platitudes if we do nothing to protect our children. No God will come down and fix our responsibility for us. On a more positive note, you’re right about there being incredible music today! I am not a fan of a lot of what is available today; most popular music is usually synthesized, too similar/using the same few chords, compressed, too loud, lacking in complexity or subtlety, and leaving no room for any musician but the singer to show their skills. But I am glad to be reminded that we still do have incredible artists creating magnificent music today, like these guys. Within Temptation is one of my favorites as well. Btw, have you ever heard of Type O Negative? If you love Within Temptation, they’ll probably be right down your alley.

@@arimarianne7528 OK - so I listened to October Rust and this band is very talented. Their music is creative, their instrumentals are really, really good. I'm afraid I just can't connect with the vocal style. Not sure why, it's not pretentious but geared for a different taste than mine. Many thanks for the recommendation - I'm always looking for another first class symphonic metal band. :)

I'm 60 yo and deeply loved prog and rock we had back in the 70' and 80'. But here we have this beautiful band providing goog spirit, friendly behaviour, amazing and complex music with great melodies and meanings sang by the lovely Sharon.. Saw them in Paris every time they came, and their last show in november with Evanescence was incredible, Sharon was in very good health and shape. One of my favorite band since about 2005

My high school friend showed me this band and now I'm 32 and still listening this.

I think the second verse actually starts off with "Don't need a resolution, never had a war in mind."

Within Temptation is that band that you are always excited to hear new music, cause you know it will be good and their songs always have identity. I'm a fan since 2003 thanks to their song "Restless". I love you, guys! Please, come to Brazil!

Been a big WT fan for many, many years! They never, ever disappoint and have always been a band with class and integrity! Fabulous! ❤️🎶🙏

Agree 100%. Don't get the few that say that they've gotten mainstream and such, Resist was a really great album and every other one aswell. If anything, I'd say WT has stayed metal, melodic and symphonic, true to their roots so they have a heavy sound but still evolved. I cannot ask for more. But it's mostly those who want all bands become brutal tru blackened death metal who think that lol. WT is one of the best symphonic metalbands if not the best!

I first discovered this band in a dark time of my life, and their music means so much to me because of that. Amazing new song, can't wait for more.

This one has a Heart of Everything vibe. I like this turn to the older period--I liked The Unforgiving album too--hope we get to see a modern take on the earlier period style which is my fav WT. I want to see more grunge vocals intermixed like they did in Silver Moonlight and more guitar or bass and drums solos. 🤞

Better then their other singles that they released in 2020. I like this song alot but their other recent singles didn't do anything for myself. This song does have that old WT vibe while their other recent singles had the generic pop rock feel that I hear from most new songs on the Octane station from XM satellite radio.

You truely know what pain is. When you can feel every single lyric. One of the best, most talented bands out there. Takes pure talent to be able to make people feel your music.

Glorious voice. A flower blooming out of the dirt and constantly showing its beauty. An anthem for the people who are risk takers and believe in the freedom to exist.

Perfectly balanced. It's heavy melodic, cinematic and you can feel the emotion in Sharon's voice. That's what you expect from Within Temptation. I wish the song was a little longer. The old and new elements are mixed together without losing the essence of what WT means. I like the message of this song which is not against faith but against oppression and crimes committed under religious pretext from antiquity to the present day.

Within Temptation never disappoints. Their music, Sharon's voice, their aesthetics, in general everything that surrounds them has had one of the most interesting evolutions not only in the metal industry, but in general among all the bands out there. Every new album, every new song is not only a love letter to their fans, but also a testament to how much they love what they do.

The Purge and Don't Pray for Me are the new tracks that I love most. Hope both be part of the new album! Love how both songs keep the classic WT sound with a new flesh.

Sharon is the reason why I listen to metal! She blasted that door wide open! She is incredible and her vocals are so soothing 🥺 this is talent right here! Great song 🤘💕

Sharon looks and sounds unchanged. So amazing. The band is killing it in this song. Guitar, drums, bass, and her voice blend perfectly. Deep lyrics too. Wow this is like a combination of the best of the older stuff mixed with some new style. I hope all never stop!

I was waiting 15 years to see her.... In July I saw her , I got a picture with her ... Time stopped for me. I cried my soul out. WT are everything to us . I love Sharon's voice. Always mesmerizing!! I'm a person though who does believe in prayer and I'm struggling to understand the perspective of this song. I know of the current trend of regarding people's responses to tragedies, when they say, "I'll pray for you", as flippant, and indeed some are, but sometimes it's all we have to offer, a simple prayer for good to prevail for someone or in a situation which really is what authentic prayer is. If there be a God, it's an asking for His intervention to fight for, defend, help and minister to the person(s). I know people misuse prayer and attempt to manipulate people by saying such things as, "I'll pray you see the truth" when they really mean, "I'll pray you see it my way". But that is not authentic prayer. True prayer also realizes that I do not see everything perfectly clear and the Grace and Mercy given me also applies to them. True prayer also asks God to reveal where we are wrong.

I think you kinda answer the question yourself, because in the world of today, most prayers are not "authentic" like you describe it. Especially because religious people tend to confuse belief with knowledge. The churches are the pharisees of our time and I think that Jesus would dislike them as much as he did back then. I mean just look at the U.S. where a relatively small group of religious fanatics has succeeded in enforcing a legislature that goes against what the great majority of that country wants to have. And even here in Europe we have a bit of an overlap between fundamental Christians and the Alt-Right trying to enforce their thinking unto the masses and pretending to speak for the majority (ironically all the time claiming that it's not them, but the rational-thinking people trying to enforce their "ideology" unto them.) And yes, on the left, there are also people trying the same, and while I sympathize with most of their points, I absolutely don't sympathize with how they are going about it.

I'm a fan of this band. And I also pray for people. I will have to say I am disappointed with the lyrics of this song. It sounds great, but sad that alot of people don't realize the depth of prayer and that there are sincere people out there who care about others and that prayer is about a relationship with God to ask him for whatever it is you're praying about for others and ourselves. Prayer is all about knowing we cant answer everything so we ask for guidance through a prayer.

Sharon, and Within Temptation, are simply one of the greatest bands out there. This one cuts right to the core, end of the world urgency, triumph in the face of defeat, the only way forward is to jump off the cliff and rise. Transcendance in the abyss of chaos.

So many years I've been listening to this band and I'm still in a deepest awe possible from Sharon's voice. Incredible!.

Закидают какашками и закрутят гайки что ни концертов давать ни альбомы писать. А так в песне как по мне есть отсылка на Украину в виде строчек "Oh, I needed a revolution I never had a war in mind". Так что всё они скорее всего прекрасно понимают.

I've seen you guys many times in Italy, but it's never enough! I also took my mother to concerts, although she doesn't understand much English she loves you. Your music crosses the boundaries of words and goes straight to hearts.

Is it not sad that commercial radio will never play this, just in case people discover something better than the dross they churn out 7/24. Thank god for WT.

From the first few seconds I felt it was the actual Within Temptation. They came back to their identity. Don't get me wrong, their previous songs are decent but this is WT's Core.

The first concert my boyfriend and I went to together was a within temptation concert! 🖤 So excited to see what’s in store!!

within Temptation is my favorite band, I say millions of times they are the soundtrack of my life... Winning a concert ticket and meeting the band in person would be crazy, one of the few dreams that would come true... It would be totally surreal. I love within Temptation

This band is a new discovery for me. Awesome consistently technical, harmonic, in fact philharmonic, music with power and drama. Planned a trip specially to see them play in Newark with Iron Maiden

Every time I listen to this song, I can't help thinking it's a visualization of Lanfear in the Wheel of Time

Normally when someone celebrates an anniversary (Sharon) it is the rest of us who give you little things but you go and give us this gift to the world. Thank you my Goddess of temptation. 🤘😍

Love this band. I don’t need a church. Don’t need religion or Jesus.

This ist the first WT song that really caught my attention. Darker and heavier, I love it.

I love this band. So consistent and talented. Been around since the beginning and glad you all are still going strong.

I will always be grateful with this band, they saved me so much times and that's something I'll never forget ❤️

Its been 22 years since I heard them for the very first time and Im still in love with this band and Sharon's voice.

I'm a PROUD Within Temptation fan! I love the concept of the video, the music of the song, the lyrics, the old vibes. One of the best songs you've ever done in the last few years. For me this is different but the essence is the same. You're still the same. Thank you for this. Much love & respect.
