... It seems like he's saying if you give McCarthy a perfect situation he can succeed, but that's true for most of the guys at the top of the draft.

Analysts are all saying this now in part because it gives them a cop out to not look bad. Basically praise every QB prospect but say they’ll only succeed in a great situation, if they flop then you can just blame the situation and team, therefore you never have to be wrong. It’s lame…

No way. QB is the hardest position to predict for NFL success. When you're talking about a "sky is the limit" guy, we're talking a Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes, Allen type. Situation is big, but it won't make a Josh Rosen or Blake Bortles "elite."

Vikings are the spot for JJ: sit for a year behind Darnold. I'vs watched every one of JJ's games at Michigan. His performance on 3rd and long is special. Has a knack for making the right play at the right time. Universally loved by his teammates and coaches (except for Cade 'McNamara). High character dude who loves football. He's Kirk Cousins with a better arm and better athleticism.

Apart from the fact that that’s a lie (every offense has progressions and now the NFL runs so much college stuff that the lines are blurred), the fact of running a “pro style offense” in college doesn’t mean much. Every Iowa QB runs a pro style offense (Under centre, progressions, checks etc). How many of them worked out? Most of the top QB’s in the NFL ran a spread or an air raid in college and still learned NFL offenses.

clearly, the higher a player is drafted, the worse the team he's going to - unless some team trades up big time. and there are some teams who draft high over a number of years and their players just don't pan out and everyone concludes that the player was a bust. but herbstreit also made a point that most fans just don't get about leadership - which can't be quantified - but does matter. mccarthy has that "it" factor in that regard.

Talking about dual threat QBs, how many can be that way for more than a few years? NONE! Age sets in, they get slower, they take too many hits and they’re forced to be pocket passers which many can’t handle. What? How is that possible? What' your proof? Even if what you're saying is true, we know for sure that Michigan didn't know what Michigan State, Purdue, Penn State, Maryland, Ohio State, Iowa, Alabama, and Washington were doing don't we. Every one of them bit the dust. Defenses can hide coverages. For example, against Illinois in 2022 the fighting Illini gave Michigan problems all game due to disguising their scheme until just before the snap. Still Blake Corum had just over 100 yards in the first half before going down with a season ending knee injury. It took a last-minute drive with the J.J. THE FRAUD making plays to lead the Michigan Wolverines to the win 19-17 on a field goal with 12 seconds left. So, please explain.

@@glennpelton4887 Proof? It’s fact and so many levels. Regarding the second half of 2023.. true they didn’t have all the info. However what they had was a winning culture (players buy in, coaches staying, recruits, money) all built on a false narrative. They were able to put this is motion for over 2 years by cheating. Had they followed the rules they would’ve had the same ups and downs and not had some of those desired outcomes. You can’t cheat for 2 + years , say you’re stopping and then get accolades for success by a group built fraudulently.

@@bv7441 what explanation do you want? The fact that your program cut your coaches salary in half in 2020? The fact that your school accepted suspension because they knew fighting this was not winnable? The fact that Stallions was on the sideline of others teams games and then immediately let go, along with the LB coach when all this started to come out? The fact that your qb admitted to this after the bama game? The fact that the ncaa has served up a ton of info to the school to prepare them for what’s coming? The fact that they openly purchased the tickets and kept records so thoroughly… I get it, you finally got what you want but none of it was earned by following the rules everyone else does. It’ll take a couple years but at some point all the fraudulent achievements will be erased.
