    I noticed a pretty common tactic used by NPCs playing gwent: They pass the first turn after playing one or even 0 cards so that you could have wasted some cards on it, making you win the first turn. They then destroy you by using brute Force of their deck but keeping 1 card in the hand so at the end of the long turn (which you might have lost) you might have run out of cards and they destroy you with the last card which is a simple 2 attack. My tactic is to destroy my opponent in the second turn, this is why my deck is a Northern Realms with non special cards other then a dummy and a clean wheater, 2 spies and a dummy (to reuse a spy that the opponent may use) and heroes and ballista attack that Gest double attack from the power of Foltest. With spies and two doctors that can reanimate 2 cards in the best case scenario (where the opponent uses 2 spies and reuses one of yours) you can play 20 cards in a game.

    Alessandro Marostica if you’re playing against a nilfgaardian deck you would be pretty much good to go, but the monster deck doesn’t use spy nor medic and they pretty much become desperate in the second round. Suggestion? Let them waste all their cards in the second round and then pass, naturally you’d have more cards since you have spies and medics. Easy counter

    @@arathelmcarthur8573 Monster, Skellige and Scoiatel deck are pretty much impossible to lose against as Northern realms. (Monster - Villentretenmerth + Bitting frost can win against their 170-200 point melee line 😂; Skellige - scorch is devastating against them since they have almost all cards multiples of 6 [6,12] => they cannot put any cards on the table or they will have only 6s or 12s and 2x scorch destroys the whole table; Scoiatel is similar - so many 555 666 and the cards are outright trash) I think Nilfgaard and Northern realms are really the only competitors for the best beck. The other 3 are instalosses if the AI knew what they are doing. You dont need any special strategy, you can just play whatever and win.

  • @Jboychoy

    Whooops! I meant at 2:32! The reason why scorch would work with Biting frost is because due to the commanders horn, all of major domo's close combat units would be at 2, while all of you units would be at 1, meaning that his whole close combat units would be destroyed. (this is excluding all of the hero cards on that field because they are unaffected)

    So many mistakes were made. It’s amazing that you won at the end. You should have just played all your hero cards to bait out the Musters then use your Biting Frost and Scorch combo on them. You blocked yourself by playing Vesemir and the Blue Stripes Conmando. That stopped you from playing the combo. You had enough cards to play, baiting with Torrential Rain was effective, and you had a Decoy so you could have play one unit card but that’s all. It’s unfortunate there’s so many negative comments. You won at the end and a win is a win.

    What else can you have? I have triss in my northern realms deck as well. True, she’s the worst hero card, but it’s still a great card. To be able to play, you have to have at least 22 cards in your deck, and to have that many cards, you would still have to use at least one 7 rated card like Triss, because there aren’t enough 7+ rated cards to make up 22, even if we counted lower rated spies and medics, so what you say is absolutely stupid, a deck northern realms deck without Triss is simply not complete.

  • @xvaldez3284

    @xvaldez3284

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@LPVince94 northern realms and nilfgaurdian decks are simple and straightforward decks. Basically boils down to whoever has more cards wins but you need actual strategy for some decks. Skellige can be pretty nasty not only does the leader card prevent your opponent from reviving spies or other cards with useful abilities it can reshuffle cards with the muster ability back into your own deck which can be used again. For example using the 3 shield maidens (basically a blue stripe commando clone) for one round then reusing them in the final round with the Ceres card. Not to mention a lot of skellige cards have the tightbond ability. A particularly nasty one to have is the young berserker cards. Safe from scorch before transforming but as soon as a mardroeme is played its damage goes from 4 to 8 and it has tightbond once it transforms so with 3 of them you're getting a card with a whopping 24 points each making it the strongest possible unit in the game without glitches, exploits or a commanders horn. It's a pretty versatile deck with lots of unique cards and abilities you just need to know how to play them.The barber from the tourney grounds in blood and whine is especially good with this deck. I ended up having to make a meta buster deck to be able to beat him reliably. Scoia tel doesn't really seem to have anything going for it though. Maybe I just haven't found a decent strategy with it but I've never encountered a strong opponent who uses the deck so maybe I just haven't seen what kinds of strategies are possible or maybe I haven't found a strong opponent cause there are none who use that deck. Honestly it just seems pretty gimmicky and not at all useful. Basically a bunch of weak cards that can switch between close combat and ranged with a number of healers which is really only useful if the other person uses lots of spies. And even then the healers suck cause they don't add to your point total like most others do and they don't have any strong cards worth reviving like nilfgaurd has.

    @@LPVince94 Scoiatel and Skellige, while being weak, are both vastly superior to Monsters. Scoiatel has three medics, like Nilfgaard, plus its faction ability is one of the three strongest abilities in the game (worse than Nilfgaard's but slightly better that that of NR). And their leader is surprisingly good, with the ability that makes you draw one extra card being one of the strongest hero traits in the game. What it lacks is spies and heroes with good abilities. Skellige has s pretty good synergy between its faction ability and its second hero trait and, unlike Monsters, good units across all three rows. It also has a medic (which Monsters doesn't have). The problem with Skellige is that it lacks spies and is probably the deck that requires the most planning and strategizing in order to win a match. Monster is just bad, having the weakest faction ability, and an incredibly inflexible deck centered around the weakest skill in the game (muster). Its only saving grace is that it has pretty decent hero traits.

    Not my name use spies and decoys and rig your deck so your piss weak cards are not in it. That way you draw your stronger cards. For northern realms I put close combat normal cards and the rest spies and heroes. That way when normal cards come they are for the same row so i commander's horn. Also on the second round, play a shit card and pass and then on the third round the opponent eases up

    Does anyone gain 800 exp (or 900 - 1000, depending on the difficulty you're playing) after beating Majordomo in gwent for the first time? I got it while playing my first walkthrough of the BaW DLC (I played him right after lifting the whight's curse when Geralt brings the woman home to Corvo Bianco). I told him to choose any deck he wants, he chose Nothern Realms. As I remember I was using Nilfguaard. I won and gained 800 exp (playing on Deathmarch). But during all my other playthroughs (currently three besides the first one) I don't gain any experience after beating him. Not for the first time, not for any other times. I even try to play him at different moments: right after finishing the Hunger Game, immediately after the tour around Corvo Bianco (when I get there for the first time) and nothing seems to work.

    I would argue that the monster deck is the only deck that could have that as a good strategy. Due to the many mushers you can have more than 22 cards to minimize getting multiple mushers on hand. If you also play the Kayran card and a horn, you can get quite a nice power boost. One ghoul on hand could be equal to a level five card, if it is played right: 5+morale+horn=12 and (1+morale+horn)*3=12.
