I just remembered! I wrote a song about Wisteria! Wisteria Oh you dark green rose I love the way you let your hair hang down everytime the wind blows You make me cry in a silent way For every time I ever dreamed that I could ever live this way You've been living on the other side WIth no one to sing your tune A lonesome land in a lonesome wind Beneath a lonesome moon

I lived on Wisteria for a year in 1977. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. Myself and a woman named Nancy once cleaned up the entire island of trash. A group of us formed a little tribe for a while. We had a sweat lodge. There was Shelter, Dreaming Eagle and Cynthia and Moriah, Black Elk, Prairie Rose and Honey Bunny and Becca. There were some really burned out Viet Nam vets with PTSD and a few crazy people that came and went. I called myself Morningstar then and had a little styrofoam 'Kool" sail boat as well as a 17 foot Thompson mahogany that I turned into a gaff rigged sail boat using side boards for a keel. It sailed great! I am so happy to learn a Hilton Hotel doesn't exist on Christmas Tree island as I'd heard one had been built. I wonder if any of my old friends will read this. Ahoy!

Beorn Bear - What are you still living on Christmas Tree? I lived there in ''77 - '78 -Right now I'm in Oregon and camping out my car while taking a camping tour of Eastern Oregon. Been a VERY wet winter here - two months with no sun at one point.

This is a man of character and the rarity of such traits is what makes this appealing and why I seek such an interesting experience. Live long morningstar or long live.

Had nothing to do with the island being a "hell" or "paradise", just with it being clean up day.

I hate to inform you all, but this Island is now owned by Ocean Properties Hotels Resorts, which is a hotel development firm. I hope you enjoy the Island as much as you can now before it is destroyed.

No development that I saw, just seemed like a bunch of people living the Conch Republic life most of us mainlanders daydream of from our cubicles. (Alas, I didn't have the opportunity to go shoreside, so accept or disregard my opionion knowing that.) I wish nothing but the best for the folks that call that island home. Between Irma, covid and life. They've managed to keep their priorities straighter than most of the folks that can afford to vacation in Key West.

Why don't they leave that island alone?! Let those who have no place to go live there and enjoy life, for God's sake.

Maybe because they are polluting the ocean that people swim in with their garbage and feces.
