I first saw this movie in summer camp in 1968! (Camp Youth Development Inc, Lake Champion, Glens Spey NY) It was run by Southern Baptists as part of a youth outreach for kids living in Harlem, and this was REQUIRED viewing! I spent three summers there and we saw the movie each summer I was there. The man who ran the camp was the man featured in this movie as the Wiretapper (we knew him as Jim Vaus) and he would come in quietly during the showing to stock the vending machines in the rec hall. He never talked to us and pretty much kept to himself. He seemed like a really nice man. I think that he wanted to see our reaction to the movie. I became a "Born Again" at that time because the counselors were instructed to evangelize to the campers as part of the summer program. I was 13 years old when I became a born-again! 👼

Dear PizzaFlix, Thank you SO much for showing this movie. I am so glad this man came to the Lord Jesus and became a "new creature in Christ" and left his old life for a brand new one. I did the same thing all by myself in my living room in 1978 and I've never been the same!

The Lord brought His Word to pass and sent His Messenger: Due to men down the last 2,000 years misunderstanding the Word of God, (often due to ignorance) the pure understanding of the Word of God as the Apostles knew it had to be “RESTORED”. The Lord Jesus Christ must REMAIN in Heaven until the times of RESTITUTION OF ALL THINGS: Acts 3:20 + 21. 20. And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: 21. Whom the heaven must receive until the times of RESTITUTION OF ALL THINGS, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. The word “RESTITUTION” means “RESTORE.” The Lord stated that He would send HIS END TIME PROPHET to “RESTORE” the Word of God, as the Apostles knew it. Matthew 17:11. And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elijah truly shall first come, and RESTORE ALL THINGS. The Lord stated that He would send His End Time Prophet in THIS DAY. Malachi 4:5. Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet BEFORE the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. This Elijah prophet comes BEFORE, “The coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord,” which happens in THIS DAY. To recieve the Lord we MUST receive the MESSENGER who the Lord sends as the messenger is given the necessary understanding of the Word of God: John 13:20. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth WHOMSOEVER I SEND receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. We are now living in the last days, God has kept His word and sent His prophet, thereby “RESTORING” His word to His Bride. God has raised the dead on FIVE occasions through HIS CHOSEN VESSEL. God was photographed SIX times, (Veiled in the form of the Pillar of Fire) with HIS CHOSEN VESSEL. www.williambranhamstorehouse.com/pdf_downloads/the%20supernatural%20halo%20photograph.pdf The, “Elijah anointing,” (Concerning the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ) is used “TWICE” at each “Coming of the Lord.” The Lord kept His Word and sent His Messenger to THIS seventh and final Laodicean Church Age………. Revelation 3:14. And unto the ANGEL (MESSENGER) of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God. Revelation 10:7. But in the days of the voice of the SEVENTH ANGEL, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets. John the Baptist`s ministry fulfilled Isaiah`s prophecy: Matthew 3:3. For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, PREPARE YE THE WAY OF THE LORD, make his paths straight. John, “Prepared the way for the Lord,” John did NOT “Restore anything,” as that which would need to be restored, (The full understanding of the whole Bible,) had not yet been given. To have your sins forgiven, you MUST “Walk in the Light” (1 John 1:7) which is the manifested Word of God for YOUR DAY. The Bridegroom who is the “WORD” (John 1:1 + 14) will marry a “WORD” Bride, NOT a denominational bride. I didn't know this had Billy Graham in it when I selected it. I haven't watched it yet but I will say when Mr. Graham was in Reno decades ago and I was invited to the event I said I'd think about it, I thought "In a pig's eye!", and when I heard the Lord say "It's now or never." I picked now. I went. I didn't really want to go but I went. Miracles took place. I was rescued and will soon be redeemed.

A surprisingly well acted true drama. I don't remember seeing Georgia Lee before and see nothing of her in Wikipedia; a pity because she seems to have an allure in her acting, a pathos. Bill Williams never fails in the film to make you uneasy, unsure of what he'll do next - that's a gift ina film such as this.

My issue with this film is that the wife, with her constant badgering of him, could have gotten him killed. She was extremely immature to the point of actually being stupid, talking in public the way she did about his occupation. Hopefully the real life wife was nothing like that. Other than that, it's a pretty good low budget film noir with a religious twist at the end.

From Wikipedia article on Phil Tead (the postman in the opening scene of Wiretapper): Born in Somerville, Massachusetts, in 1893, among his many roles, Tead might be best remembered as the semi-recurring character "Professor Pepperwinkle," an eccentric inventor, in several of the color episodes of the 1950s TV series Adventures of Superman. His appearances included the final episode, "All That Glitters." His first appearance had been as a shopkeeper named Mr. Willy, a similarly eccentric character.

I was wondering if the taxi driver was the actor who played Abner Kravitz on Bewitched. He sounded a bit and looked a bit like him.

Howard Kerr I don't recognize the actor that portrayed the cabbie, but it wasn't George Tobias (Kravitz from Bewitched), already a well known veteran actor by 1955.

My dad used to do something very similar to this at Golden Gate Fields he would sit in the bleachers hold up a big number of which horse won and then his cousin would call in the bet to the bookies they made a few bucks until the race track caught them his cousin used binoculars from a phone booth it was all timing and small bets,Nothing fancy like the set up.

A weak woman stands by and gives years of her life to a louse. Then adds two kids to be disappointed by him too. Ask any person with a crook as a parent. Nice to see him wake up. But people dont need Jesus to do so. Perfect ending would have been him walking into police station and she walking into mother’s home.

Not very realistic-- those hoods would have never let him walk away alive knowing he could turn them all into the cops- at the very least they would have knocked him out and taken him somewhere else to kill him.
