Wired Freedom Range Test - Tannus Tire Armour VS Flat Out Sealant
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
In this video I did a range test to compare results from having Tannus Tire Armour inserts, to using Flat Out tire sealant. In my previous test I achieved a range of 34.1 miles using limited throttle and PAS 3 only with the Tannus inserts. How will the Flat Out compare? YOU WONT BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENS!!

I took my headlight bracket apart and put two spider washers on either side of the light mounts on the inside it firmed right up. that same bag I used a few for the fender too

Fun video thanks for sharing the comparison between Tannus and flat out 😊
Another great vid! After a lot of research, I am leaning towards using Flatout over the Tannus as well. This video only helps support that decision.
Enjoying my Freedom bike immensely here in Arizona. I've put quality all-terrane tires on it, tire liners and flat-out on the inside. I ride on some rough ground in the desert and so far, so good. Range wise, I haven't run the battery completely down yet, but it seems like I have all the range I need and then some. No regrets!
I took my freedom out for its first long run to the test range. I used PAS 3, 70% of the time and the throttle 30% of the time.....Max top speed is set at 35mph.....My weight is 175#.....80% of the ride was very hilly and curvy trails through the woods. 20% of the ride was on Bike paths and side roads where i could get it up to 30 or 35mph......It was a 3 hr ride..... In the end i rode 30 miles and still had a half a tank (two bars) of electric left.....

Interesting to know. Great test. New camera seems to work good! 4:32 that sign is weird. lol We have signs on back roads here and there that say "No dumping. $500 fine". So I always dump on the other side of the road to avoid the fine. lmao
Nice video. Thanks

Not pedaling while more than slight cornering is actually a common safety practice, even for riders on bikes with plenty of pedal clearance. Just an overall good riding habit.
I can't speak about e-bikes, since I ride a commuter bike with 26 x 1.25" tires in a city. For me, miles, time, and effort is critical so I pay special attention to rolling resistance. I found the best combo by buying economy street tread skins and triple thick tubes. Then, instead 60 psi I inflate to 90 psi. Rolling resistance is minimal and I stopped getting flats (3 years now). In my opinion, the tire pressure for fat tires is ridiculously low. Hard tires also tend to resist punctures. I am suggesting a review test on increasing the tire pressure, but you will absolutely need new skins and the thickest tubes you can find. My only draw back I have discovered is that my skins get stress cracks after about a year and a half. I've had to replace skins three times now over the years but my system works for me. The bike rolls effortlessly at 80-90 psi and if it drops below that I can really feel the difference. Try doubling your rated tire pressure, they can handle it for one run no problem.
Drone footage was cool!!
Thanks for the chitty information.
Bro, the next time you hit that little retention wall you should play that song from Scarface, take it to the limit! 😂😂
For the little mileage gained on your range test I rather have both flat out and Tannus armour in tires, I have both, double protection is more piece of mind for me when going on long rides. But I’m older and not hopefully want to fix a tire or walk a heavy bike back miles from home. Everyone has their own preferences.

I hear what youre saying. Getting a flat potentially 10-15 miles away from home is not a scenario anyone wants to be in with one of these big heavy bikes.

Hey man. Interesting your in Antioch area. I lived in Concord from 1973 to 2006! Thats when we woke (no pun intended) up and moved to SE Tennessee. We don't count homeless motorhomes here, was impressed buy all the riding trails though. You Cali people need to quit sniveling about the rain! Y'all use to snivel about the drought! Never happy... Lol. No regrets escaping California. Good video. What road was that homeless rv park on?

Digging your Wired stuff. FWIW our iguanas give squirrels a run for the stupid money 😆
Tannus tire armor flattens out after a year , ive heard. I Think FlatOut is better, i've had big construction nails and screws go through my tire and tube. It will keep going even with multiple punctures. I have a hole in my tire right now from a razorblade, and its between 1/4" and 1/2" slice, that is sealed and not a problem. For the price of tannus it shouldnt flatten out after a year. And i dont think tannus is going to stop a 4" nail or screw. The tannus probably increases the rolling resistance. If you get crappy tires and go fast, Flat out can feel wobbly though. Need good tires to go fast
@shootthechit
5 ай бұрын
I heard that, and I've also heard they changed the formula on the foam so that isn't as much of an issue anymore. You're right about the 4" nail, I had one penetrate the inserts and go all the way through the tube. Tannus works well for goat heads and thorns. So far I like the Flat Out, haven't had any punctures or wobbling yet. How long is it supposed to last do you know?
@EBikeBuilder_

flat out is supposed to stay liquid for the life of the tire, is what they say. It shouldn’t dry up like slime. Of course as you get punctures and the goop shoots out, you may need to “top it off” after a while. But I’ve kept the same flatout in a tube and used it for probably over a year. I use it in a tube cuz its easier to change tires and stuff, I’m not a fan of tubeless. But yeah its good stuff. It will save you money on tubes and patch kits etc, and save you from flats. There’s really no need to replace the tube with flat out unless you get a huge puncture. and even then, i run it with multiple holes and punctures and it just keeps going its amazing. The only time i get a new tube is if there’s a hole 1/2” or bigger that is on the edge of what flat out can handle. Those ones will keep squirting juice and its time to get a new tube then.
We need a Bay Area ride meetup.
Thanks ( just for the algorithm)😉

@shootthechit I didn't mention I live on the edge of 140 miles of desert wilderness in NW Arizona. My first ebike I rode for miles on desert trails. I hit a pothole going 18mph on my first ebike at 64. Flats are a pain on fat tire folders, and always on the rear tire. I'm not running liners or sealant currently, I'm staying on the bike path, and sidewalks from now on. I could of been seriously injured, now I wear a helmet ⛑️.
Hey Mr Chit I'm 5"8 with a 30 inch inseam I was wondering if a 26 inch e-bike may be too large for me?

I would try one in person before making a decision. It is probably doable but would also comedown to personal preference. Its more the frame than the 26 inch tires that are the issue

I'm not sure if the wheel will fit 3 or 3.5 inch tire. Haven't heard of anyone doing that one yet. I know they do make tires with road tread patterns which have less rolling resistance that come in 26x4
I can't believe what happened.
I don't put anything in my tires other that a tube a rim liner, and a little baby powder, It's all in the set up, I've gotten one Fat tire flat since 2017, it was summer 2021, last year I had to replace a tube that was six years old. 15 lb is the most you I should ever inflate to, and that is still a little too much.
